It's Appleton :(

Keep us up and that’s all that matters. Not sure why people on here are expecting us to be climbing up the table, the board have already said on numerous occasions the aim is to establish ourselves in this division.. NOT GET PROMOTED. Back the new manager until he gives us a reason not to. Embarrassing comments on here.

Sadlers comments
I can not guarantee success , but he is the man for pool at this moment , so Simon Sadler is in trouble financially for me
he wants pool to go forward but something has happened to stop this , this season is finishing 4th from bottom , avoid relegation at all costs or do the best you can , maybe ne t season pool push forward , i reckon liam was coming , but pool can’t afford comp 300.000 rumours and give Liam the budget we need
it will be loans , loans and frees , but sell at least 4 players to balance the books maybe , Neil knew something was up , maybe 🤷
You may well be correct with most of that I fear.
An exodus of players looming I fear now we’ve got someone in the hot seat.
Anderson first who next? Marv? Bowler? Grimshaw?

Don’t forget SS witnessed him as a manager for Blackpool so maybe he liked what he saw the first time around.
I’m underwhelmed but he has experience at this level and hopefully he doesn’t treat us as a stepping stone.
Judge him at Xmas.

It’s going to be a backs against the wall season as we have one of the smallest playing budgets in the league. We enjoy being the underdog. With this backdrop Appleton May turn out to better than some predict. Whilst he is in post I will support him.

You can't argue with the quote from SS who is much better placed, with his entire team of paid professionals, than any of us like-to-think-we-know-it-alls!

“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Michael back to Blackpool. I am very much looking forward to seeing what he can achieve during his second stint with us. Whilst success cannot be guaranteed, Ben, Brett, John and I are convinced that, after a thorough recruitment process, he’s the right man for us at this point in our journey.

“All of the prospective head coaches were strong candidates and we spent several hours with each to get to know them better. After debating their individual pros and cons, we were unanimous in our decision to choose Michael Appleton.”
If you translate that into plain English it means he was out of work, so just needed a job and from the clubs point of view and most importantly, he was cheap.

The biggest problem with this is people are already against him, and most of those people won’t change their mind on that.

Every time we have a bad result it will be the same people popping up overreacting and getting on his back.

Yes, he’s got to win a lot of people over, including me, but I’ll at least start neutral.

People will be wanting him to fail so they can prove themselves right, as is what happened with Grayson and Critchley.

We’re starting from scratch.
Disagree
Keogh was universally written off on here but soon won people round.
At least he is now in place to sort out pre season, help pick signings etc
Suspect Thorniley and Yates will be happy as they possibly have a future here now

Of course we can afford the compo for LR. Getting 1.5 million plus for NC.

Well the board clearly don’t listen to fans, I know they don’t have to but ST sales will be hurt, he’ll have to get off to a good start as 90% of fans didn’t want him. Then if we’re struggling before Xmas they’ll have to replace him anyway.

Very, very strange appointment.

Like he did last time !!!

Not my choice but give him the chance to prove himself. We are better off than when we had the previous owner who s name I have forgotten for ever.

4 year contract??

Sadler must be out of his mind.

So what happens when we lose a few games and chants of "you don't know what you're doing" echo around the ground. Apeton will lose the supporters and any money Sadler has saved elsewhere will be blown on Appletons compensation payments when he's sacked.

I should have changed my nom de plume to Ollyback. He would have been a less uninspiring choice

So much for the ‘strategy’ then…

The clear perception of a conflict of interest is massively damaging to trust between the fans and the board.

Something that’s particularly galling is that this is a guy who walked out on a previous club just to go and work as an assistant in the Premier League. Exactly like Critchley did.

Both sides need to sit down and realise they’ve made a mistake. Better now than in November when we’re 23rd and no one wants to come.

Good point.

But I think it’s different with players.

Keogh could have a good game even if we lost, and fans would recognise that.

It’s different for a manager.

Every loss or poor performance it will be Appleton that gets the stick, because people have already made their minds up before pre-season has kicked off.

My view is that he's not the kind of appointment we needed to get momentum going again. He'll have a job keeping us up this season. Good luck to him.

I'm not devastated, I'm definitely not excited. We'll see.
