It's got to be on Banks that Maxwell plays...

As frustrating as it is to see one of Pools most prize-assets sat on the bench week in week out, this is now the 3rd Manager this season that's opted for Maxwell.
I really can't see why Grimmy can't get a game, what other Goalkeeper would remain in the side given the amount of goals conceded in a small space of time.
It can only be that Banks is in the Managers ear (for whatever reason) to play Maxwell. He has been the only constant throughout all this..... Poor.

Nothing funnier to emerge over the last few weeks than the fact that even a goalkeeping coach has become the target of fan frustration.

People have absolutely no idea what role he has in team selection yet he has become public enemy number 2 (after Maxwell) for some.

It’s so hilariously thick

Maybe if someone from the club would explain the logic, we'd have no more of this speculation. The fact is Maxwell has been dire all season yet still retains his place. That's bound to get people second guessing.

Except the board specifically mentioned that Dobbie would pick the team aided by Banks and Blinkhorn, so he does have input.

Unbelievable now we're blaming the goalkeeping coach after now four head coaches have all preferred Maxwell over Grimshaw.

It wouldn't matter if we had Gordon Banks in goal with our shite defence and little protection from midfield we'd still be letting goals in.
3 head coaches.

Critchley had given Grimshaw the shirt up to his brush with Archer's foot.

The main issue is the useless defence to be fair to Maxwell. Maxwell has made some great saves this season other wise the margin of defeats would be much higher, He can’t be blamed for at least the 1st 2 goals on Saturday. I doubt Grimshaw would do much better with our current defence line up. The only decent defender for me currently is Thorniley.

If we had Gordon Banks in goal, we’d let loads in. He wouldn’t move far if the opposition got a penalty.😁

That is irrelevant if the games have ended in defeat and I would also argue the bar is now set so low that people are including regulation saves in great saves.

His blunders have mostly cost points....

How is it making him enemy number 2?? It's pointing out a clear fact.
If you have a player who has continuously made errors throughout the season for multiple managers, yet there is one common factor throughout that (that obviously has an influence (otherwise he wouldn't now be supporting Dobbie now)), why shouldn't he face some criticism?
Or, justify (with communication to the fans) why Maxwell has been kept in week in week out? All other players seem to be taken out of the team at the drop of a hat.

I can only think it’s contractual that when fit he plays.
He looked to be off to Everton last summer and maybe used that to his advantage. If he’s got a choice between being a reserve at us or Everton he may aswell go Everton. Unless we promised him first team football.

Would they bollocks Grimshaw has made plenty of howlers but as ever Avftt looks for a scapegoat Maxwell is the man.👎
Nowhere near as many and not as bad as people claim. People cite the Rotherham game but watch it back, it's one parry into danger from a well hit shot from distance.

There's been no balls going straight through him from open play and corners.

It's pretty simple, get the mistakes from the highlights that he's made that led to goals and lets see them, I'll find you many more times that and worse mistakes from Maxwell.

Tell me, poolseasider, with your apparent need to denigrate Grimshaw and shamelessly defend Flapswell, you wouldn't, by any chance, be in cahoots with BFCX3, would you? Sounds like a cosy little coven the pair of you have got going there...

No.👍

Have you actually read the stats theads?
No I can see with my own eyes we're shite and it wouldn't matter who we had in goal.
Our defence changes every week our midfield is awful offers no protection and opposition sides get way to many chances against us.

Also I don't get into name calling of one of ours is he good enough for the Championship no that could be said about 99% of our squad but something ain't right with Grimshaw now four coaches have snubbed him he's already falling out with Appleton maybe he wants to leave?

Maybe Banks, Appleton, McCarthy and now Dobs see much more of the reality than we do. Maybe they think with our team being bereft of confidence, that a young and quiet goalkeeper, even the hugely talented one Grimmy clearly is, is not the right choice right now. That's certainly my opinion of why he's not been picked despite us leaking goals. Maxwell appears to be a fairly confident, vocal keeper, with loads of experience and proven quality keeper in the past, and yes, he looks jittery and second guessing himself and his defence atm. That happens when a team has been as bad as us, for as long as us.

That being said, if nothing changes in the next game or two, wouldn't be surprised to see Grimshaw get games when it's all done and dusted and the pressure is off.

I'd rather not that just throws the poor lad to the wolves and because the team is already down he could ship in a shed load.

Thick, just about sums it up tbh…

Last season Griimy had the shirt and was praised endlessly on here for his performances.

This season Maxwell has the shirt and is criticised endlessly on here for his performances.

If that doesn't tell you something guys I really cannot help you. 🤔

It tells me that when the going gets tough that our fans usually dig out a victim or two.

If things were going well, people would no doubt be focusing on some of the fantastic saves that Maxwell has made since returning.

Bollocks, I think the groundsman had got his grass lengths all wrong causing maxi to have an unsecured footing which also means he can't come out fast enough for crosses.

Yeah perhaps you’re right, but that’ll be down to the coaches to work out I guess. weird things can happen once the pressure is off a team though, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a couple of results at the end of the season when it’s too late!

The last three managers have all preferred Maxwell to Grimmy and they have the last say,Steve Banks can recommend who he feels is the better choice , but he is only the goal keeping coach and can be over ruled . How is it that football fans know better then the people who run the team . Who knows how well the training goes for each of them ,and I think we will lose Grimmy not only because of the lack of playing time ,but the way some people build him up to be the best goalie ever and should be in the Prem.

I really don't hold with the oft-repeated line of how the situation can only really be down to how the respective parties (Grimmy and Maxwell) have been performing in training during the week. I can only think the backroom staff, in making their selection, are basically choosing to completely ignore the wretched matchday performances Maxwell has been treating us to this season, and that Grimshaw has spent the week leading up to games trying to emulate the performance given by Billy Casper (aka actor Dai Bradley) in the classic British film 'Kes'...
