I voted no and I’m 100 per cent sure about that.

However I would like to see an experienced no 2 for NC to have as a sounding board at the very least .

McCall as assistant manager seemed to work well last time and he’s currently out of work.
Not sure McCall was here long enough to draw that conclusion

I think a few are overestimating how good our squad is, this isn’t a group of players who could walk this league.

We definitely should be doing better than we are and the manager is responsible for getting the best out of what we have.

Not if you read what Eternaloptimist has to say on the matter, it isn't. In his wisdom, and for anyone prepared prepared to hear him out, responsibility for 'everything' that occurs out on the pitch rests squarely at the feet of the players - and don't even dare to tell him otherwise

I would pick the best players at the club in their correct positions. As regards a manager, I would have to see the list of applicants before I could make a judgement. Easy, ask me something difficult, but nothing about nuclear physics please.
So who are the best players in the correct positions then? simple question Einstein hope it isn't to difficult for you but if you want help i am more than willing to help. i don't get why people make comments and they can't back it up.

So the players didn’t step up to the plate and it’s Critch’s fault.
When the starting XI was announced there were no complaints as it was a strong side, although I’ve no doubt there will be the usual suspects on here who will slag off the selection (after the event of course) because they have loads of experience at management.
The players, and the players alone, were to blame for this defeat against a team who haven’t won a home game since 21st October
Connelly cb? Happy with that was you?

This is bang on. There seems to be a worryingly large percentage that believe the squad is much better than it is. Perhaps they are overcompensating due to the dislike towards Critchley.

Of course we do. It’s beyond obvious we have the players. We are consistent in our inconsistent performances as the manager consistently pisses about and is incapable of coming up with anything that can turn a game around if we concede first.
What makes you think ‘we have the players’ - every other team around us smahes teams half way and below and we lose to ever6 one of 5hem

There is something not right in the mentality of the players and they do not have that winners ethos

Exactly .. players to blame because the tactics used clearly win games … players have no bottle away from home.

Yeh he is too loyal to certain players and too wedded to a system that isn't working for these players he is loyal too. A possession based style of play but then trampoline touch CJ always plays as a prime example of it.
Sometimes you can't see the woods for the trees and we are certainly in that territory I think with NC.
Don’t know how Chris is always the first name on the team sheet he couldn’t trap a bag of cement but he’ll drop Carey/casey the mind boggles

I don't think we've necessarily got the squad to walk the league, but actually we've seen periods of games and whole performances where we look like a team that should be right up there. We have played several teams, above and below us, off the park and quite literally thrashed them. And don't forget our home form is probably automatic promotion worthy.
So do we have a team that's pathetic, way off the pace, not trying, incapable of playing well, completely lacking in attacking threat? No. Do we have a team that has a problem with away form and general consistency that needs solving? Yes, and if we can solve that problem, the potential is very very exciting.
What I'm very clear on is that this isn't a problem that requires a change in manager. I think we are much much closer than some people think to being very very good

CJ will be never a wing-back and should not play in a 3-5-2 ever.

Anyone ahead of his love child Connolly in any position so that's WB, FB, and MF as he is simply nowhere near good enough.
We had the delight of the above pair at FB and WB 2nd half yesterday which was tragic to watch.

Dom Thompsom MOTM in the FA Cup not in the next two squads(drafted in half an hour before KO yesterday) and showed what we are missing as bonafide WB.

Lyons a quality right wing-back being misused.

Albie Morgan after KD has been the best MF for a few weeks and only gets bit parts.

Marv & KD are on the naughty step or another it seems and factoring into all the above Critchley's system eliminates CJ for 90% of the time because he is in the wrong half.
Marv our best defender also eliminated.

For me, it's not the players fault in this particular case.
The whole season so far has been one of trying to perfect a system, a style of play that is aimed at denying the opposition of the ball.
The problem is, in the first instance it was a work in progress, a system that the players had to get used to.
Now it's a system that all our opponents know we're going to play and they adjust their tactics to nullify ours.
In short it ain't working and Critchley needs to either adjust the system to suit the players we have or abandon it all together and find a plan B although it's probably too late in the day for that.
Its all too slow and predictable at the moment and against well organised teams as Burton were, we will struggle to score goals.

Top post. 👍

Yet another mistake by Sadler in appointing Critchley. His 2.0 brand of football is painful to watch. As is seeing the like of Connolly, Norburn and Morgan shuffling sideways and backwards with no tempo or attacking intent. Set piece after, set piece hitting the front man. Our only plan is the give the ball to Dembele and hope, plan B is to hoof it and hope CJ can chase it down. Week after week we see players do something good and then follow it with something terrible. Joseph the culprit yesterday. We are all fart and no poo!

... Let alone create chances!

Mosser Sadler is the Problem as well he needs to think long and hard Pal about putting the club up for sale because he thinks he is a hero and a dream owner I got news for you he ant has made way to many mistakes from day 1 of owning the club and he does not learn from his mistakes and certainly does not like investing and spending the money on the right players that could propel us quite easily out of the league that we are in had he provided the funds last season to buy a midfield General and a big mobile unit up top we would not have gone down I rest my case.

And who in their right mind would buy the club from Sadler?

What mistakes has Sadler other than you possibly believing Critchley was one?, and if you think we only needed a so called Midfield general and a big mobile unit last season to stay up you need to have a reality check

Just for a start Lyons would be on the right, not the left. Casey would be at CB, not on the bench. Connolly would be nowhere near anything. Etc, etc, by the way you appear to be having trouble reading, among other things. My name is Ross not Einstein . If it was I wouldn’t have avoided questions on nuclear physics.

Fair enough Albert, i like the Etc, etc, because you cant think of anything else, by the way i don't have trouble reading and with regards the comment other things please stipulate.

The ‘other things’ are also associated with, what appears to be, your poor eyesight. Which you must have if you can’t see whats wrong and need to keep asking me.

Sorry Kev but I can’t agree with that. He’s pumped millions in during the last 5 years that nobody else would have

I don't think we should be walking the league but I don't think we've got a bad side either and we should be in a better position than we are. However, I also don't think we should be changing manager but the away form is putting him under pressure because the expectation is that we'd be in the mix and we're 7 points off the playoffs and 13 points off top.

I agree we're not miles off but there are a few glaring issues that need addressing. I don't mind 3 at the back per se and it looks good when it works but there's too many times when it doesn't and we look easy to play against. It seems that if a team sets up to frustrate us it's easy to execute that gameplan and we don't have the answers. I also think we're lacking some characters and our mentality seems to be an issue, we've been outfought a couple of times which just isn't good enough.

Overall, I'm not at the end of my tether yet but the manager is under pressure because there have been too many off days. I can understand people's frustrations especially when they've travelled to see us underperform away from home.

Do you have a theory as to why the problems you mention don't seem to have an effect at home? (we are actually the best team in the league at home)
I see a lot that the formation is the problem, team selection is the problem, lack of quality is the problem, mentality is the problem, but they're not a problem at all at home given our automatic promotion worthy record there

I think this "possession based football" can be easy to play against when we're put under pressure and we're more likely to be put under pressure away from home.

There have been a few times at home where teams have played with a high press and we've really struggled to assert the possession game. A couple of examples would be the Peterborough game where they were all over us first have and Northampton were also excellent at pressing us which seemed to disrupt our flow. Our defenders aren't good enough with the ball at their feet to play around the back under pressure.

Most teams won't come and play like that at Bloomfield Road because they'll want to come and keep it tight and nick a result, or they might not have the personnel to play that way and it plays into our hands because we can dictate the game.

I think our style of play either works or it doesn't and there's no plan B for if a team tries to stop us playing how we want to.

Exactly .. players to blame because the tactics used clearly win games … players have no bottle away from home.
Portsmouth result suggests they have the bottle and can do it .
Is it the coaching and the system they are not confident about ? If so something needs to change imo an experienced no 2 to bring a different perspective before and during games . NC has shown he can get us promoted but he needs a bit of constructive input and be open to suggestions which may deter slightly from his footballing philosophy but can get a result when one isn’t on the cards.
Major surgery is not required here . Just a few tweaks .
We are not winning any games from a losing position and this needs sorting asap.

Too slow play
Too many touches
Not picking our strongest team
Rotating far too much
Favourite players
Trying to keep everyone happy

He’s not strong enough to be a manager. He needs to go. Very disappointing season so far. Massively underachieving.
Nail on the head my friend, straight forward facts summing him up perfectly

I have no issues at all with SS. I'm grateful for everything he's doing for BFC and hate to think where the Club would be (if it still existed at all) without him.
But I do have big issues with Critchley. I think he's stubborn and arrogant, with a 'This is my team and I'll do it my way' attitude. I'm convinced he reads these comments and deliberately chooses to ignore sensible (and often obvious) suggestions from fans about what changes might benefit the team. Personally I'm not a fan of squad rotation. If you've a winning team in this league then stick to it while it's winning, unless you have to make changes because of injuries or suspensions. He seems to think that his is the greatest squad going but I disagree. We've a few very good players, some good, most are average and there's one or two that make up the numbers IMHO. But they can play very well as a team, with the right motivation and tactics. I don't think Critchley has the former skills and frankly I think he guesses the latter - occasionally they work out but mostly they don't.
I hope I'm wrong but mid table obscurity is the best I think we can hope for this season, without serious changes. And the fans deserve better than that.

From reading this thread you'd think we play horrendously every week and are incapable of a good performance. Which is so far from the truth. I still genuinely think some things need ironing out rather than changing the manager. We are a bit of consistency away from being one of the best teams in the league by a mile. Sacking the manager isn't always the answer, and I don't think it is here
Agree with final sentence. Youre just rolling the dice if there’s no compelling candidate. But NC has shown no signs of identifying the issues and we are halfway through the season with play off positions further away. SS will surely be asking NC and the recruitment team how they plan to address the issues so we can make a realistic push next year. BUT if he’s not going convincing answers then get rid and push the reset button.

Big player problems and issues with players contract as ip to 13 or more players who have there contracts coming to a end.So where does Sadler go next as there is a lot of sorting out to do as possibly the majority of players could opt out not renew and find another club with more money on the table.as we all know unfortunately Football is buisness related sport and as we know Sadler will not have a gun held to his i head in regards to offering players over the going rate and the same as transfer fees as well Sadler prefers to operate in the loan market as well as free transfers if he can.well we all know that he has the dream Manager in. Regards to saving money on transfer fees as well as wages with the fist puncher being a yes sir No sir 3 bags full member enough said on that note wishing the box of toys you know who you are a very prosperous new year in Lk trust
