Well he's a striker but not a target man and quite often plays wide. What can you ell us about him @Insider - position, strengths etc?
Its all down to managers giving them a chance I guess. I remember Brad Holmes getting a chance but didn't look ready and Sinclair's lad who did ok. I'd like to see Rob Apter get a chance because he could be a decent prospect from what I've heard and also Jake. I remember Nathen Shaw making a few first team appearance's and looked promising. Wonder how he's been getting on at Fylde.Hmmm...its about time one of these talents kicked on and actually made our first 11...they all seem to fall before they even reach the final hurdle...surely one day one will make the leap
Nathan has played when fit but unfortunately he's had a season plagued by injury. Rob Apter has had a good season at Chester with plenty of plaudits plus of course some international recognition. Its all down to managers giving them a chance I guess. It's all to do with them being good enoughIts all down to managers giving them a chance I guess. I remember Brad Holmes getting a chance but didn't look ready and Sinclair's lad who did ok. Yep but you certainly have more of a chanceIt's all to do with them being good enough.
Correct, and if they are they'll make the step up. You don't have to play at a Cat1 academy to guarantee football success in the same light that you'll never make it if you're at a Cat3 academy.
I know the standard of our Academy is your specialist subject and there's no disputing the fact that we are a Category 3 Academy.Yep but you certainly have more of a chance
You only have to look at the loans of where our best prospects go to see the standard
Not even conference standard
Saying all that i do like the look of Holmes , Abter and Daniels just think they need some proper football league experience before they are ready for a Championship first team
You miss my point againI know the standard of our Academy is your specialist subject and there's no disputing the fact that we are a Category 3 Academy.
That being the case most of the games are against other Cat 3 players.
A couple of things to say about this:
This season, to address the "standard" issue Trusty, Mariette, Moore, Daniels, Strawn, McLachlan and Fitzgerald have all been sent out on loan to play "grown-up" football.
On the occasions when the u/18s have played against Cat 1 academies there wasn't a huge gulf.
Of course the the fact that we are Cat 3 academy has nothing to do with the standard of the players, it's all to do with the standard of the facilities. That is being adddressed.
Looking specifically at Jake he turned down a move to Cat 1 academy and by choice is staying a Blackpool. Whilst I know that for a fact with Jake it may also be the case with others.
So try and see a positive for once.

I don't miss your point at all, you've made it often enough. I think you are missing mine tbh.You miss my point again
I think it's because regulations in those leagues are less tight in terms of player commitment. It lets the club send and recall them. And play in youth or county cups (I think). You only have to look at the loans of where our best prospects go to see the standard
Not even conference standard
Didn't we beat Newcastle 3-0 and lose narrowly 2-3 at Stamford bridge to a late penalty though? It feels like we have brought in better youth players since Critch arrived. Anticipating good coaching and improving facilities. Possibly. You miss my point again
Looks decent .. Hope a first team appearance next season doesn’t become a circus show for the lad.
No I didn't.I hope the OP had no 'inside' information given the thread title.
ps shame the lad needed to say it.
I think that was Luke Mariette who is also a cracking prospect. Was it Jake who attempted the weighted through ball to Yates against Peterborough that Jerry didnt anticipate? I found that mental a youth player came on and tried something we've been crying out for all season
Hopefully we'll see some appearances for him in the first team next year. Be great to have a lad come through the academy!

Jake will only be a 2nd year scholar this coming season. The danger with sending him out to a League 2 club is that its a 6 month loan and we'll lose a bit of control. Not sure if that applies to National League, it certainly doesn't below that. I be inclined to keep him in the Youth set up at BFC until at least Christmas. Let all the off-field stuff die down and reassess the situation in January.I think a spell in the National League and perhaps a loan to a L2 club in January would be of more benefit to him at this stage in his career.
Yes that came out at the "dialogue" meeting. I must admit it surprised me because Critch said he was against it at a Q&A I was at with him only a couple of months back.I read that we're going to be joining the reserve league again. So he could get more experienced playing in that league with/agaist senor players who are coming back from injury and fringe players.

I'm sure however the wise people in the Academy will know what is best.
Said similar to me, I actually asked him again off the back of you mentioning that on here and he said he preferred hand-picking development games so I'd imagine there's been some sort of assurance we can move fixtures around at times to fit in bounce games.Yes that came out at the "dialogue" meeting. As our "development" squad increases in size it make more sense. Another concern is where these games will be played? Judging by the size of the league we are likely to be in that's probably no more than half dozen home games so the Club might be able to persuade the groundsman to let them use Bloomfield Rd.Said similar to me, I actually asked him again off the back of you mentioning that on here and he said he preferred hand-picking development games so I'd imagine there's been some sort of assurance we can move fixtures around at times to fit in bounce games.
I get what you're saying but Tony Weston came through our academy and seems to be doing alright. It's all to do with them being good enough
The standard these lads are playing in is poor its Cat 3 Academy against other Cat 3 teams like Rochdale, Morecambe and Accrington
The youth lads at better Academy teams play a higher standard
Even Crewe play at a higher Academy standard hence why so many of their youth make the first team at Crewe
Until our Academy improves and the Category increases I very much doubt many will make the first team as Championship football is miles away from Academy Cat 3
