James McLean off to Wrexham

Bet he’s devastated not to be coming back to Bloomfield Road!

Wonder whether this has any impact on Wrexham’s supposed interest in Matty Virtue?

Great news, really.

It was only a risk of more issues him coming back.

Lets watch him have way more issues with other fans from afar.

He’d only have wound the fans up here n no doubt the chants would have been heard all the way to the FA n we,d have probs had a 70K plus fine n been an FA marked club. Good riddance to him!

Don't mention his name on here, according to some we'll be docked points 🙄

There'll be a BST statement soon saying how delighted they are that the threat of a points deduction has been averted 🙄

For the posters who brand him is a bigoted view. He's Irish and anyone one here born there would feel the same. Historically we were the aggressors, educate yourself our actions were shameful and yet he's the ****?
The UK has been a brilliant PR machine I'll give it that.

There are many Irish over here and probably do feel the same.
The difference is that they don't go round like an angry wasp trying to stir up confrontation all the time 🙄

But yeh, boo hoo let's feel sorry for little Jimmy 😪

James McClean doesn't want to wear a ** poppy so what, he grew up in Derry where 26 unarmed civilians were shot by the British army with 14 of those losing their life, everyone supports Ukraine right, England invaded Ireland and the Irish fought back, Ukraine is hitting Moscow with drones the Russian are calling Ukraine terrorists, ring any ** bells, The anti Irish sentiment on here is all to evident, but the anti English sentiment in many places in the world is very real and justified due to the many atrocities committed by England, you don't get an empire by being nice. You all ignore the facts, concentration camps in the Boer war, yep world leaders in inflicting misery and terror on smaller nations throughout history.

Rubbish. We've had loads of Irish (north and south) play for us, and against us. None have to my knowledge spouted so much vitriol and been the direct cause of so much division.

He's a knob, if he hates us so much, why work here. Hypocrite.

You make some valid points but also make the mistake that many do about the British Empire; it was not just the English empire, many of the participants in the empire's repression were Scots, Welsh and, yes, Irish.

As for the English invading Ireland in the 13th century, there was no nation of Ireland at the time, nor had there ever been, just a bunch of warring regions as England had been prior to the Roman invasion. Opinions of historians vary as to whether the besieged tribe around the Pale (the Liffey valley running into Dublin) seeking help from the English King was the catalyst for the invasion, or the pope's decree that the English crown had suzerainty over Ireland (who practiced the 'wrong' type of Catholicism, including getting Easter wrong), and the English king should go and sort out the unrest between the warlords in the island and bring about the correct forms of worship.

Of course the English subsequently overstepped the mark, of that there is no question, but as part of the UK many Irish men fought and died in WW1 and they are remembered in equal measure through the poppy appeal and acts of remembrance.
