If we are losing Kenny then I would hope a replacement is coming in?
DMIf we are losing Kenny then I would hope a replacement is coming in?
They are not exactly like for like. Within our current squad Virtue is probably the nearest we have to King Kenny!Albie is the obvious replacement for deposed King Kenny (Matty as back up).
so do i John Wayne might have something to say if it did.As long as this doesn't turn into the new Brannagan saga then I'd be happy with him as well.
wow. that is some stats. never realised all the data that is collectedReally hope this is a goer as Carlisle are destined for relegation, and Moxon still hasn't signed a contract despite being offered one in JULY and Carlisle won't want to lose him for nothing in the Summer.
Think it's very easy to look at their position and scoff at the potential of signing him, but the stats suggest he has been one of the best players in League 1 this season.
His performance so far by the numbers compared to other League 1 midfielders (per FotMob):
-91st percentile in chances created.
-96th percentile in successful crosses.
-97th percentile in successful dribbles.
-100th percentile in tackles won.
-100th percentile in duels won.
-98th percentile in aerial duels won.
-81st percentile in interceptions.
-92nd percentile in shot accuracy.
I will be fair and include the less desirable stats too..
-1st percentile in dispossessions.
-1st percentile in dribbled past.
-27th percentile in pass accuracy.
-53rd percentile in long ball accuracy.
WhoseScored Average Match Rating= 7.03 (35 out of 359 League 1 players, 97th percentile)
-The only players we have who are rated higher are Jordan Rhodes at 7.28, James Husband at 7.08 (Karamoko Dembele is at 6.95).
FotMob Average Match Rating= 7.36 (18 out of 359 League 1 players, 98th percentile)
-We do not have any players rated higher than that and the closest ones are James Husband at 7.32, Jordan Rhodes at 7.28, and Karamoko Dembele at 7.24.
The stats indicate to me that he is exactly what we need; a central midfielder who sits deeper than someone like Dembele who can progress the ball, create chances, and still work hard to carry the load defensively.
He certainly has his drawbacks as he is VERY wasteful with the ball, but in a better team I think he would do even better.
In fact, when you factor in that he has been playing on a putrid team, he becomes even more appealing to me. With teams paying close attention to Dembele, Rhodes, and Hamilton, adding Moxon into the mix would allow him to thrive.
There it is, argue with your mothers, because numbers (often) don't lie.
Possibly not the best time to buy, but loans with an option to buy in the summer might be worth doing. I don't think the players listed alone are good enough for promotion.DM
Norburn, Virtue, Morgan, Oakley Booth, Connolly.
January is not best time to buy players as few are available better than we already have

Apparently Clarke-Harris wants the same wages as he's on at Peterborough but Charlton aren't willing to pay that because his best years are behind him.I see the Clarke-Harris transfer to Charlton has stalled.
Although a fee has been agreed between the 2 clubs Posh manager Darren Ferguson has stated he believes personal terms are miles away from being agreed and it’s all gone quiet.
I’m not sure about that he’s still only 29 and the bulk of his goals have all come since 2019 while at Bristol Rovers where he averaged a goal a game and the same for Peterborough where he’s also averaged a goal a game.Apparently Clarke-Harris wants the same wages as he's on at Peterborough but Charlton aren't willing to pay that because his best years are behind him.
I agree with you. I still think he's one of the best strikers in this league and deserves every penny. I wanted us to go for him in the summer. Charlton think differently though and they have Alfie May who is the leagues top scorer right now so they're not exactly desperate. Wouldn't surprise me if he's still at Peterborough at the end of the month.I’m not sure about that he’s still only 29 and the bulk of his goals have all come since 2019 while at Bristol Rovers where he averaged a goal a game and the same for Peterborough where he’s also averaged a goal a game.
At 29 he’ll be looking for financial security that would make him comfortable now to his retirement so I can’t blame him to be honest holding out for more dosh.
Would be a deadly partnership with Rhodes.I agree with you. I still think he's one of the best strikers in this league and deserves every penny. I wanted us to go for him in the summer. With Tharme having departed we are short of a CH as back up. Josh Feeney the young lad at Aston Villa (formerly Fleetwood) was being touted on loan back in July last year given Critchley's Villa connections. At 18 yrs old, I'm not sure if he's ready for the rough and tumble of Lg1 but Villa might think it's exactly what he needs?Left footed centre back cover / replacement for Husband still needed
He’s never ever coming this far north. Not a chanceWould be a deadly partnership with Rhodes.
So are theirs.Apparently Clarke-Harris wants the same wages as he's on at Peterborough but Charlton aren't willing to pay that because his best years are behind him.
He seems keen if what he has told his hairdresser is anything to go by.No it’s an incoming one
As usual the ones where it’s a list of half a dozen clubs tend to be easily ignored
A lot of our players we sign come from non league. a few hidden gems have been found along the way. nothing wrong with giving young players from non league a chance to shine! not saying all work out for us but yanno. A lot dont even get a reasonable amount of playing time to shine like Ben Garrity, Scott Quigley. Nick Anderton and Douglas Tharme. Would have liked to see Raul Correia play a few games for us too..Another link for us. Not exactly an exiting one though.
I think at least one more. Probably midfield.I think we’re done this window.
Striker for sure is nailed on imo.I think at least one more. Probably midfield.
No. We’re notI think we’re done this window.
If Dougal goes as expected I think we will be straight in for Moxon at CarlisleI can see us bringing in a MF before the end of the window. Not too sure about anywhere else.
Are you going to be subjecting us to your Fantasy Cryptic ITK bollocks for the rest of January? Can you not go and play with your model train set in the attic instead until the end of the transfer window? No. We’re not
Not too sure about that. With his contract running out at the end of the season and no one putting offers in for him right now, I can see us waiting for summer. Especially if Carlisle are still wanting stupid money for him.If Dougal goes as expected I think we will be straight in for Moxon at Carlisle
You might well be right - I would imagine if we can get him at the right price we will but as you say we might wait till the summer and get him for nothingNot too sure about that. I was hoping one or two others had resigned.I hoped they would announce one or two others had re-signed
I read that move was only because they could guarantee more game time.I see us bringing in at least one more player. I think a midfielder to replace Dougall would make sense.
I see Dan Gore who we were linked with earlier this month has joined Port Vale on loan.
We currently have:Striker for sure is nailed on imo.
This is my worry, Norburn doesn't have the best injury record and we need cover for him. Critchley seems ot see Virtue as cover, but he's also not the best when it comes to injuries. I would really like another midfielder inWe need an experienced centre mid to replace Kenny. Virtue is more of a box-to-box player and I'm not convinced Norburn will stay fit all season.
Good post and I don't see anyone coming in at this stage.Free agent list for central midfielders is dire... Josh Onomah or Matty Longstaff anyone...?
Didn't think so...
It'll have to be a loan then.
Doubt we'd go for an academy player this late on in the year. Brighton recalled Weir as soon as it was apparent he was surplus and players like Dan Gore are going to go to clubs who guarantee playing time.
Perhaps an out of favor Championship midfielder on loan then?
Ebou Adams from Cardiff? Andy King from Bristol City? Jay Matete from Sunderland? Dominic Ball from Ipswich?
Most of those are unlikely as I'm sure their clubs will want them at a minimum starting every game.
So the question is who would be willing to loan us a player that is almost assuredly going to be a squad depth piece?
Permanent deals are definitely off the table as whoever we're dealing with will charge a premium.
Carlisle are 10 points adrift and almost assuredly down, but doubt they'd let go of Moxon for less than 500k, which isn't a bad deal IMO, but wouldn't be good value when he'll be a free in 6 months.
Interested to see what rabbits the club pull out of their hat.
