January transfer rumour thread Part 1

As long as Poveda and Patino stay I don't care, I also think there's a decent player in Williams too nut not sure Liverpool will want him staying with us if he's stuck on the bench. Fiorini looked good so if he is close to full fitness I would be hoping we keep him, but if not then that is a shame.

Fiorini won't be fully fit until the end of Feb. Not to mention him being lightweight and being bang average when he did play. We need seasoned professionals who can get us out of this mess. I'd like to see us tempt Cardiff with the Brannagan money being offered for Wintle. In my view he's exactly what we need alongside Patino.

Fiorini didn't get enough time on the pitch to say he was bang average, Can't see Cardiff letting anyone go unless they get the transfer embargo lifted.

I saw enough to see he's light weight, the fact he's been injured for months is enough to show we can't rely on him. We are in a dog fight for survival, we can't afford any passengers. In other circumstances I'd be happy to have him with us but waiting on player who won't be fully fit until March would be crazy, we have 20 Cup finals.

You mean we can’t afford any MORE passengers, Stewart, Bridcutt, Anderson, Gabriel, who gets a 5 month injury sitting on a stool. They are enough for now.😉

I thought he looked decent, but irrespective of that if he's out till the end of Feb then he hs to go back.

Indeed, it is a sorry state. Some injuries are expected but when you rely on Stewart and Bridcutt to add the quality we need in midfield, it was never going to work.

Agree. If we can’t get Brannagan (I know, but I’d still like to see him here) Wintle would be welcome back (although a slightly different player).

We won't get drawn into CamBran again. His time has passed and he's made his bed (or pond)
Lorientz Rosier I think will be the one we go for.
Good, don't want Brannagan anywhere near the club after the stunt he pulled in the summer. The lad will regret not stepping out of his comfort zone and taking the step up to the championship come the end of his career.

Reece James staying at the Massive. Doing well by all accounts.

"Great news! Consistently one of our top 3 performers this season in my view.

"Apart from the rash challenge at Peterbro, I've not seen him have a bad game yet. Mr Consistent

"A solid, seasoned pro who can slot in and perform in a variety of roles.

"He's the type of player every squad needs. Just a solid 7/8 out of 10 every week. Surprisingly good in the air. I hope we sign a couple of central defenders in January so he can have a pop at the LWB role. He looks decent going forward.

Rumours filtering through about Nico Tine Trinidad & Tobacco international defender. Keep tabs on this one....

Are we still sniffing at him? He looked like a gem, and an absolute unit too. Sort of exactly what we need in the middle.

I see we're in talks with extending Grant Ward's deal. Why?
I thought the comment was we would not look at extending his deal until the last week as we have other priorities. Personally, I would not bother extending his contract as he has hardly played for us. I would sooner see Tayt Trusty or Jack Moore on the bench if needed.

The fact its even an option is worrying.

Don't get how he's not been getting a sniff there at all... language barrier?

Olympiacos have a very "international" squad and everybody in Athens speaks English anyway, it's normal

They changed their coach a few weeks after Bowler arrived and he didn't rate him for some reason

He didn’t say that.

You need to keep up 😉

“The Man City man is likely to arrive on loan, as is Bowler, which would take the number of loan players on the books up to six with Lewis Fiorini, Charlie Patino, Ian Poveda and Rhys Williams still part of the squad.”

is he out of contract soon, why are they selling?
Contract up in summer. However Newcastle have a 50pc sell-on clause so their incentive to cash in is reduced. But they’ve been struggling lately, new manager, may want to switch things around etc

you would of thought they wouldn't want him coming to us a relegation rival
