Jerry Yates

Fair response. I just think we look a shadow of the team with Madine as a lone striker. It limits our attacking threat and it must be so easy to defend against. If we want to be a long ball/direct team, then Madine is perfect. With the likes of Bowler and Poveda, my thinking is that we want to play football.
I don’t deny it would be great to play through midfield to an active front three like Liverpool but sadly we don’t have the personnel at the moment to do that.

Yates scores. He gets on the end of things and more importantly can create openings himself. With Madine, he can help us defend corners and win flick ons. With the addition of Bowler, surely we are better having a striker who can interchange and drag defenders out of position.

Yates scored three yesterday? What parallel universe were you living in? I think you’ll find he only got one.

Having watched him closely we still don’t seem to be able to get the best out of him and he does disappear in games when played through the middle.

Assuming that Bowler will be in at the start next week then Jerry has got to be the main striker ahead of Madine.
As 20’s allures to he is far more astute in his technical ability and all round awareness and Bowler will provide lots of ammunition for him.
Will be interesting now to see how Appleton responds to yesterday’s performance.
All the players will be buzzing but will be gutted if they get dropped to make way for the incomers.
This, in my opinion, is where good managers show their true worth.
One issue for concern which I have posted a couple of times is the apparent interest shown by Sunderland.
IF, Ross Stuart is sold (and apparently there is a lot of interest) then Jerry is on their radar as a replacement.
Obviously their scouts know talent when they see it.
If that happened, would Jerry go? An absolute no brainer, of course he would.
I hope it doesn’t happen but if so then I would wish Jerry all the very best.

Jerry is our most gifted and technically able striker. He has pace, flair and work rate.
Wilbur does have a point though. When Critch played him as CF in a 3 he struggled. We struggled too
Then with either Simms or Gaz alongside him he shone in a front two.

Same again at the start of this season.

So in theory with such flair around him he should shine with Bowler, Darth etc but maybe being on his own up the centre shackles him? (Aside from the last 30 mins yesterday but Forest were already leaving gaps and going for it)

I just don’t know. On paper it should be perfect but his history shows he prefers in general to be alongside a big lad
