When a child is born the Christmas classic and former No1 hit has had it words changed as some people have complained saying it’s racist.
In line that refers to a child as black white yellow no one knows radio stations Heart FM and Magic radio have dropped the word yellow as they received complaints from listeners.
What with this hot on the heals of the Binary Gingerbread person going on sale has this world finally cracked and gone into obvilion? 🤷‍♂️

Now I enjoy a good moan as much as the next person but these constant attempts to stoke up the culture wars in the Daily Mail and on GB News are getting pretty tedious.

If you hadn’t noticed the country is facing a cost of living crisis, rampant inflation and a recession. Those are the things that are concerning most people, not a single word being changed in what is, let’s face it, is a fairly crap song.

Why it’s almost as if the RW media are trying to create the news to divert us from the real problems.

They’ve also changed Fairytale of New York lyrics to remove the word ‘faggot’.

They’ve changed the lyric to ‘you’re cheap and you’re haggard’.

So yeah replace the so called offensive word with something else offensive. Why is it ok to call people haggard? Surely this is discriminatory against older folk and against anyone who is self-conscious of their ageing looks?

You gotta appreciate the ones now making these decisions are the previous generations of Uni graduates who have been brainwashed by their non-binary communist professor. So that’s what you get for funding weirdo lecturers who can’t actually do anything other than warp young easy-influenced minds.

I’m shocked it’s still called ‘fairytale of new York’. Surely fairy is offensive in the context of a song which included faggot in the lyric.

I watch GB News simply because I find the BBC nauseating. Middle class twits talking about middle class nonexistent problems mostly. Left/Right doesn't come into it. Obviously, I've got to switch off when they're banging on about Harry and Meghan, but no channel will be 100% to each individual's tastes.

I'd say the war on racism is won, as much as a war on bigotry can be fought and won. Your racist bigots are now  just snobs and now just closed minded. Maybe the woke stuff gets more kickback up north because it's like being taught to suck eggs. We're already tolerant and respectful and won't have for a second that we're privileged by virtue of being born.
 
This thread is typical of how, through interfering with and misrepresenting words and phrases to suit an agenda causes more angst than just getting on with it and accepting your fellow man/woman/this/ them/ or whatever he/she/it/them is. The whole scenario of how some people take advantage of what they now consider is aimed against them has reached a level where it is beginning to become intolerable itself by the vast majority of people of all casts and religions.

Fair point. I think there is a range of views on the channel and in any case, it's the way news is going. Very few people actually watch it live, but GB News post snippets online. It's how news is mostly consumed now.

The BBC's bias is a more insidious. Whenever they talk, there are various topics which are taken as granted. An article of faith everyone is on the same page.

Just one example... in my life, not a single person gives a shiny shit about climate change. More interested in getting by and having a good time whenever the opportunity arises. If you watched the BBC you'd think everyone was watching their CO2 footprint. Simply not happening. Rinse and repeat for the royal wedding, Covid, insertion of racism discussion or social problems into what is meant to be light entertainment (eg Gary Neville ranting during football).

It's just my preference.
