Jordan Rhodes goal drought?

We have Kouassi about to come back too, sure to start against Bolton in the cup so getting more options. Team have a week without a game so they all need a breather and that should help Rhodes a lot. Leave him out at your peril.
We need Kouassi and Beesley nowhere near the first team if we are to have any chance of sneaking into the play offs they’re just not good enough. Rhodes Joseph and Lavery are more than enough. Critchley doesn need additional options it only confuses him and tempts him to play silly buggers.

He was explosive at first but now hasn't scored in seven games. I thought that he looked tired today. Brilliant player but I think we need to give him a bit of a rest, maybe start with Lavery Up top for a game or two and give him a rest
Think he is still worth his place, bring Lavery on after 60 mins if it is not working

Agree, Beesley and Kouassi won’t get us promoted

He looks knackered at the moment which isn't surprising, he's played alot of football. Hopefully not having a midweek game will do him the world of good and he can have a rest.

Thought he played well first half tbh, in a front 3 he might not be as prolific but if it allows others either side to get the goals then it doesn’t matter.

Chizzmeister kept making a point that it wasn’t Rhodes’ or Dembele’s best game, he was right about Dembele but not Rhodes.
Rhodes worked his socks off yesterday and that ball he played through to KJ leading to the 1st goal was typical of his experience. On the other hand Dembele as excellent and exciting as he is keeps giving the ball away in dangerous positions but he will learn from it, but if it was any other player doing this e.g. Carey he’d get hammered on here!

I agree that he looks a bit tired. Maybe we should start with Lavery and Joseph up front and bring Rhodes on for the second half of games.

Another player who looks even more tired than Rhodes at the moment is Hubby. The amount of misplaced passes in the last couple of matches is not generally like him.

I might be alone in hoping Dembele has off games, but I have not given up on him signing permanently. The off games can be when other scouts are watching him

Worth spending big to get him if we can. He's only 20 and there's a lot more to come. Could take us a long way and be sold for a possible big profit further down the line.

Rhodes plays every game. I'd be tempted to tell him to do less chasing and closing, just concentrate on position. He came back in his own half looking for the ball yesterday.

On Dembele, yes he does get away with it because of what he can do. Others can't do those things, so giving the ball away is a huge part of what they do.

Well each can still score goals and contribute.

Also it can be about wearing sides down and then putting Lavery, Joseph and Rhodes on for e.g. all fresh and all causing havoc.

So it's helpful to have players back.

All strikers go through it, remember the clamour to drop Shearer before Euro 96? As an aside, Shearer is the best CF I think I've ever seen (tin hat on), watching all his career goals on YouTube the bloke was an animal, faster and stronger than every defender he came up against. When he did his knee, the pace went but he just played the width of the 18 yard box and carried on like normal.

Anyway, loved the header away at Forest that led to Morgan scoring and that ball yesterday. Good player Rhodes, which let's face it surprised loads of us as he seemed to have had his day at Wednesday etc.

Jordan has that look about him from minute one. It works a treat because defenders think he can't be bothered, then before you know it he's set another attack in motion or bagged a sniffer's goal 👍
A bit like John Murphy who didn’t do much running but was always there to score whenever possible.

The post wasnt a dig or to put Rhodes does in any matter, he's a brilliant player. Just want to see him scoring again.

A rest, when he‘s the top scorer and on £7k aweigh !

Remember reading this post at the time and so have just dug it out again - if ever a player needs a goal it's Mr Rhodes - his offside shot which didn't hit the target and the one in to the side netting last night just feels he's snatching a bit at balls to get that goal.

Hows about playing Rhodes for one half? Start with Lavery/Jacobs and bring Rhodes on for the second half

I thought he was poor last night albeit with not too much service and it probably didnt help that Beesley and Dembele werent great either. I do think Rhodes benefits more from Joseph playing up there with him as he can do some of his running and technically he is a better player to combine with too rather than Beesley. Thing with Rhodes though is that he can be poor but then just grab a goal. Im sure he will come good and get one.

He needs match fitness after his long lay off, not just his goals but with his link up play we deffo look better with him in the team, getting ready for his play off final hatrick 🤞👌

The 17 goals he’s scored so far in the campaign suggest otherwise
How many from open play, away from home? No issues with Rhodes, at home we get the ball in the box more and he thrives. I just wouldn't partner him away with Beesley. Obviously, we're also a bit limited in options also

Yeah no concerns with Rhodes, he was a whisker away from scoring against Portsmouth before being sent off.

Think his last goal was at home to Bristol Rovers just before xmas. During that time he’s missed a lot of games due to injury and two were against Forest.

Hope he can get the monkey off his back this weekend at Wigan.
