Joseph v Yates

I think Yates is more skilful and is more likely to score a goal out of nothing - he scored some unbelievable goals for us (which it seems is quickly forgotten!). But Joseph has better vision - he'll get a lot of assists in his career. He set up Rhodes for a goal recently with a great pass, he also played a brilliant through ball for a goal a few weeks ago. And two good assists today. He's perfect to play in a front three I think. But until he's had a 20 goal season, it's hard to justify him being called a better striker. Huge potential though.

Two totally different type of players silly thread.
It`s not silly thread. We swapped one for the other ,both play up front and we got £3 million into the bargain.

The way Joseph is now shaping up it is looking very promising but early days,
.Clearly Swansea fans have already made their minds up that we have won this one hands down.

Joseph is like an Alsatian and Yates is more of a whippet.

They both do different jobs but do them well.

Two totally different type of players silly thread.
For whatever individual differences they (Joseph and Yates) may possess as players, given that they are both employed as strikers, describing the comparison of the two of them as "silly" seems, to me, to be utterly nonsensical.

The couplet 'completely logical' would've fitted the bill perfectly, I believe.

Early days I know....
Have we now realised we may have got a better deal, swapping Yates for Joseph + cash?
Joseph now fully fit & improving every game.
Mom today. Yates on bench again!
I've been thinking about this myself following Joseph's recent impressive performances, and I think the answer is yes. Simply because, given how things are going for both players, there is no way Swansea would offer us the same deal now! Joseph was my m-o-m today with his around performance and his two assists. I also thought Coulson had a really impressive game and looks to be a real asset 👍

No he wasn't, not last time Critchley was here, he was in and out.
Some say he had fallen out with Critchley.
I don't think Jerry trying to live up to his "go on the piss with Jerry Yates" song went down too well with Critchley. Kyle Joseph has huge potential and hopefully we can play a big part in his career progression.

Very different players for me and both worthy of their merits and I do wonder if we'd had a fully fit Joseph and Rhodes at the start of the season what difference that could have made.

They are of course different types of players but I took the op to mean deal wise who got the best out of it. We got 2 or 3 million plus Joseph which at the moment with Jerry warming the bench and KJ improving each game does look like we have come off best. I loved Jerry playing for us but let's see next season how the transfer market values the pair of them. Hopefully Joseph will be playing championship football with the mighty.

Too early to compare as I'd say they are different types of player. From what I have seen Joseph is ahead physically and technically but Jerry is more of a poacher and a better finisher. If Swansea don't want Jerry, send him back.

No comparison for me - however if Joseph starts scoring and plays a significant role in the next 19 games and gets us promoted then I might change my mind,

His cameo against Forest was brilliant, and his first half performance against Bristol Rovers was immense - we've definitely seen what he's capable of now.

Have to remember Yates had an incredibly slow start before hitting his stride. Hopefully this is the beginning of Joseph's purple patch. If his last two games are an indicator of his quality then he'll turn out to be a brilliant signing.

Would this not maybe end the same way bowler did? Was quality before we sold him, came back on loan and didn't have perform half as good.
Did you ever think why that might be? You know, things like McCarthy picking him in central midfield and telling him he's got to keep performing defensive duties. Bowler ain't ever gonna offer anything defensive wise so you have to play to his strengths. McCarthy never gave him a chance to do that because he only wanted to play defensive football. Same with Yates. Ask him to play wide left and keep tracking back, then he is never gonna be as effective as a striker. And that's what Appleton asked him to do.
