Josh Miles

For such a young lad I was very impressed with him. Obviously he's not a big ladder he got bullied off tha ball a bit, but he chased and hatched all game and showed some good skill including one double spin which left two players for dead. Overall he l9oks a great prospect.

He's the first ladder that's ever hatched at Bloomfield Rd, apparently.

And he seems to look like Albert Steptoe. Unfortunate, at the age of 16. Hopefully the camera lied.

He struggled in the 1st 45 and his first touch wasn't great. That said he never stopped running and showing for the ball. I thought he was much better in the 2nd half. His confidence seemed to improve and with that his 1st touch. Played a key part in the 2nd goal making a clever run, holding the ball well and feeding Lyons for the cross from which Beesley got his 2nd. Then cramp set in.

All in all a good first appearance and one he'll hopefully learn a lot from.

He didn't give defenders anytime on the ball and showed a few nice touches. If Lavs is going to be out a while could do worse than give him a run off the bench.

He got put in the dirt by the Morecambe No.6 in the first half and to his credit didn't let it affect his game. Showed some nice touches and played a great through ball in the second half.

To be honest I thought he wasn't that great ,but as he is so young I believe there is time for plenty of improvement . I would look at lending him out before playing for us.

Whilst a loan might be appropriate in the future my personal view is that Josh should stay at BFC at least until the end of this season.
Josh is still part of the u18 squad but has been getting plenty of game time with the Development Squad as well.
The Academy players, particularly those that featured last night, will all also have had opportunities to train with the 1st team.
So all in all I think someone like Josh will probably get more benefit from the opportunities that are available to him at BFC.
He did of course make about 15 appearances for Southport 1st team before joining us.

Sat next to his friends and family who travelled over to support him. Went through Everton’s academy and played for Southport. Thought he gave a good account of himself. Still only 17.
His mates had a chant for him but I think bottled out of singing it due to the crowd being generally quiet 😆
