Just a colourful thought.

I don't do "documentary spotting"

I just happen to have watched a documentary...

You really need to get some better banter sorted out...

Maybe if I'd said something like... "I was searching the internet to buy a set of hedge trimmers last Friday and I ended up counting 16 different documentaries on the Asian Footballer shortages" That might have been funny.

Just like someone "happened " to count the ethnicities of the England team.

Just like someone "happened" to count the ethnicities of the reading team.

It doesn't make it their hobby.

Although it seems to me like that would be your ideal Sunday afternoon 🤣

I think people are notic8ng things like this because of the media and the Lefts obsession with skin colour, and if you bothered to read my post you would see that’s what I was saying, but because you want an argument you have decided to try and twist it. Are you Mex in disguise.
No…

I just find it hard to grasp how you could describe a genuine and acknowledged diversity issue and the need to make football more inclusive and less about who can afford it and then use that as a reason to justify the rather odd reaction of literally ‘counting black people’ at a football game.

Why would they need to count the England team ?

Surely it’s just a recognised issue with diversity in the woman’s game.

Why would you not just acknowledge that problem and accept it needs to be dealt with, rather than trying to seek out to find something to try and invalidate the issue.

It’s just a typical response that comes from a place of fear.

Yet, it's actually a very valid point about the women's game though... Because it does, absolutely lack diversity (the same as certain other sports). So it is important that the sport does more to ensure that it becomes accessible to everyone so that we do genuinely end up with the best available players representing our national team, rather than those who can afford to participate.
Are you suggesting women's football is inherently racist and that diversity is not promoted?
The Football Association have bent over backwards to to make football accessible to all. There are gay leagues, disabled leagues, teams for dads who have lost children, over 50s leagues, walking football, you name it, the FA promote it.....and all, by the way with no bias towards or against any part of society. It is all inclusive.
There are and have been black players in the England ladies team the whole time. This current England manager has picked the same team almost, for every game.......nobody was calling out the Swedes for all being blonde...
If the England team was picked as a reflection of English society, statistically there would I believe, be one player of colour.
It's not, it's picked on ability, simple as that, and anyone who sees it differently is actually the cause of the problem.....

Probably the best post I've read on this subject

Bravo 👏

No, I'm not saying women's football is inherently racist - Not at all...I'm suggesting that there are inherent issues that exist or have existed within the women's game, which has resulted in a lack of diversity. Much of it comes down to accessibility and affordability ... It's also not just Black Kids who will be missing out..

You could also draw comparisons with Tennis and Cricket for example .... They tend to draw much of their talent from individuals who are better off financially.

This entire post is about the BBC counting the ethnicities within the England team... did you forget?

I have acknowledged that but I enjoy poking holes in your arguments too much 🤭

Basically you're saying he can't count the black people in the Reading team... but you are allowed to count the Asian people (or lack of) in the English game as whole? And the BBC are allowed to count the lack of ethnic minorities in the women's team? That's what you're saying.

I thought the thread was (at least partially) about a BBC presenter who had said that the Women's England Team was "Too White")? I'm not sure counting was mentioned, nor necessary was it?

The apparent 'counting' simply occurred yesterday at the Blackpool game, when Curryman's mate, decided to count the number of Black Players in the Reading Team, so that he could report his conclusions.

And I'm not counting anyone or anything ... It's not my concern...

I simply found the fact that someone chose to use their time at yesterdays game to Count Black folk.... It's possibly the single most random and strange things I've ever heard in all my born days.

As they say... There's nowt as queer as folk...

EDIT: Just to add.... I don't have any "arguments"... I'm making a humorous observation about a rather strange occurrence at a football game.🙄

There's a secondary cultural issue with the Asian section of society where girls aren't encouraged to play sport at an elite level.

That's not a racist comment, just reflecting cultural norms.

I notice that a black Canadian swimmer has reached a final in Commonwealth games.
Hope he does well.
Very rare you have a black swimmer in a major final

There has been many complaining of lack of black Premier League Managers.

On the contrary,it is not often you see a male white sprinter in an Olympic or World final.
They are not good enough!

Yep.... I'm not sure that also exists to a lesser extent in the mens game too....

TBH I just found the idea of someone counting Black Players at the opening game of the season, quite amusing and strange... (I could never imagine that thought ever crossing my mind).... Maybe it's not as funny or strange as I thought, but it's certainly tickled me.

Sorry Scara ... The conversations is getting too heavy for me... I found the O/P amusing and a few responses amusing...

I'm not interested in getting into a serious debate about racism and diversity... I've already been tricked into going too far as it is.

Apologies if any of my comments have caused you concern

Yeah you're right im sure the presenter looked at the team line up through squinted eyes and just did a rough guess that the team was "too white" 🤣 no counting involved at all, promise!

Also if you aren't concerned with counting... why have you commented so much on this thread thats all about counting? Appears you are more invested than you are leading us all to believe 🧐

Also, isn't it inherently racist to say "too white" in the first place? IMAGINE IF THEY HAD SAID "TOO BLACK"??? 😱😭

Why do you need to count if everyone is white.....?

If for example I look at the tiles on a roof, I don't need to count them all to know they are all the same colour do I?

You're boring me now...

BFC x 3, you sound like a very lonely individual who rather than make friends, would rather antagonise a whole board with your less than truthful reporting on a subject. I'm not here to explain myself to you or to any other like you, and your attempt at Yorkshire accent was crap, to say the least. Was it north, south, east, west, or central Yorkshire?

Any way enough said, and once again, for your information, if you didn't read my post at 11.02, It was a comment by someone who was sat near me. I admit, yes, I did count the bodies as they were leaving the field, it wasn't too hard to count to two, but you would no doubt struggle with that concept.

Now I'm off to get ready to watch our wonderful Lionesses beat their opponents in the final.

🤣

Don't start getting all shirty with me...

It's not my fault you've posted a daft thread about your mate counting Black People.

PS... I've no idea on the specific location of the Yorkshire Accent... They all sound the same to me.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Clutching at straws here a bit.

If 3 out of the entire roof of tiles were white and the rest were black did you count them? Or did you just have a look?

Jesus Christ.

At the last census the % of the UK population who are black was 6.2%. Therefore ( excusing my rough maths for not separating this by England, Wales etc ) there should by 0.68 of a player in a team of 11. Hardly a major issue, unless of course someone or some organisation has an agenda to make it one.

😂 I have to say this thread has given me a few laugh out loud moments so thanks for that.

I think far too many are too quick to dismiss the problem with a lack of diversity in the Englands womens team.

Surely you can sympathise with Alex Scott when she complains about this lack of diversity ?

She only got 140 caps in her career.

Yep and that Leanne Sanderson 50 caps and a job in the media

Thick as toast her

Probably best just leaving them - and x3 - to it but there are too many folk who appear to get a buzz out accusing others of non existent racism.

Somebody above - not x3 - is getting his Alan Whicker's in a twist because somebody said Asians were shit at football.

I think I'm probably done TBF... I'm not getting dragged into the whole racialist quagmire, when there's a football final to be watched.

I was just amused by Curryman and his mate Count Blackula 👍

Enjoy the game x3.

I shouldn't get involved either but if I am allowed the last word, I'd say it's fair to assume that Curryman's mate made an observation on the make up of the Reading team because of the recent nonsense on the make up of the lionesses and that he doesn't count the number of black players at the end of every game.

I think it's also fair to assume that you knew that.

Marginalising an entire race as "shit at football". Please tell me how that is not racist? You can argue against these kind of things and still not be a racist. You just have to say things that aren't racist. Simple.

He might have made you happier if he'd have gone to the bother of saying Asians are shit at football because they don't get encouraged by their own families etc, etc and explaining that there are not blocked from participating on grounds of race etc, etc.

Or he might just not have been as daft as me to get involved and just said that Asians are shit at football as you, me and every other fecker on here knows.

I've always thought Arsenal had too many French players as well but hey......smiles
Best Pool footy chant to an opposition player ever:
3rd Rnd FA Cup 1999 Highbury
As Emmanuel Petit stood waiting to take a corner in front of us the chant of "eat our beef" rang out.🤣🤣

Yes, if he'd have gone to the bother of explaining that then maybe I would be happier 🤪

Tbh this has gone too far now and I'm just gonna leave it and continue counting Black People in football teams, just like the BBC 😉

Nice work 2020, you could be in line for a Nobel peace prize if you keep this up 👍

Great to see our black players who ( according to some ill informed prick at the BBC ) don’t exist celebrating a fantastic victory for a truly diverse team. Come on England

Curryman is from Wales

I actually counted how many black players were in the Ladies England squad at the end when they were picking up the trophy

I only bothered to count after reading this somewhat bizarre thread

I counted 3

That's alright init
