Positives

Apter when he came on looked quite lively.
Thommo had a decent game .

Negatives

The overall set up of the team .
Beesley dreadful again although was very isolated.
We won’t win many football matches with both Sonny and Virtue starting and surely they won’t come Saturday.

Why didn’t Holmes get a run out ? I don’t think he was even on the bench? Wolves didn’t get out of second gear.

Unlucky with Dougall shot that hit the post and Connelly free kick but apart from that nothing much else of note.

Oh well onto Saturday and a win over Wigan will do nicely 🤷‍♂️
 
How apter hasn’t played 1 minute in the league this season is beyond a joke.

Last game of last season away at Norwich he was our best player and caused Norwich loads of problems, pre season against hibs and barrow again looked good and caused the opposition to go backwards.

He’s the only player we have who actually gets at players and get them turned and running towards their own goal yet he doesn’t see a minute not even named in the squad I don’t get it.

Play the lads that have the bollocks and personality to actually try and cause problems for the other team or keep playing all our crab players who get the ball and only go sidewards.
 
Too many players not good enough. I disagree about Thompson SK, I thought he was dreadful. Two of the three second half goals came down his side, he just can’t defend. Pennington needs to be given a run, Virtue should be a regular and as Northstandsinge says, how Apter hasn’t been picked before is baffling. If we are to salvage anything from this season it needs to be a busy last three days - both outgoing and incoming.

Only watched the highlights & plenty of deflections going against us. Agree about Thompson, bad positioning for at least two goals, one of which, the header, very half hearted effort to get near the eventually scorer.

And yet on radio Lancs, Micky Mellon was praising Beesley to the skies. He was winning everything in the air for our forwards to latch on to....we were informed.

Why can’t we play a normal system with Apter and CJ on the wings? I am sure we could bring in another winger too.

This 5-3-2 is becoming a little embarrassing now.
 
How you managed to single Beesley out from that performance is incredible. He and Thompson were the only 2 who ran their socks off. Poor yes, but at least they tried. The midfield 3 were awful, Carey yet again anonymous, Lyons a disaster, Pennington beyond poor. Unbelievable.

Apters FIRST ** touch of the ball, in between the midfield lines. Receives ball. Nice control. Turns and drives at the defence.

CJs first touch, I wouldn't know. I left but I can imagine it was dogshit.

Beesleys effort was brill against a very good Wolves back 3. But he just doesn't have the quality unfortunately.

If you watched Jordan Rhodes on Saturday, you'd see the difference. Beesley is miles off it unfortunately for him.

We need 4/5 players between today and tomorrow if we want to challenge. A change of formation and plan is also required.

If you've watched the last 3 seasons and you actually want to see CJ Hamilton start for Blackpool FC. You want mediocrity. CJ needs to be sold so we can get away from atrocious players and perennial losers. CJ has a losers mentality. Along with a few others and they need got rid of.

Thompson was ** fantastic last night. What are you talking about? I genuinely wonder what the fuck people are watching.

He was the only one wearing Tangerine (white) who looked like he belonged at that level. The rest were absolutely appalling.

I wasn't trying to suggest Beesley is good enough but at least he did the minimum and put a shift in. Unlike the non-league ghost we have playing in the no.10 shirt.

CJ on the wing with an overlapping full back is still better than what we current deploy - e.g. Connolly and CJ as wing backs.

I agree, Carey has been anonymous for ages. Weir is an attacking 10. He should be playing off of Jordan Rhodes. Simple as that.

I don't think I have ever seen a Blackpool player play consistently 4 or 5 out of 10 and get support. He offers literally nothing. He's lost that extra bit of pace. He can't cross. He can't pass. He can't shoot. He can't head. He can't tackle. He has no skill.

Can ANYONE actually tell me what he does? Can anyone tell me where he's come off of the bench and impacted a game? No one can tell me. I've been asking this question for 2 years.

"Oh yea, but he scored an open goal against Preston" good one.

I didn’t watch last night but I got shot down for saying Lyons is over rated. Hopefully Critchley was playing him out of position as usual.

The player he was supposed to be marking scored two goals in the second half. He allowed them far too much space. How is that f*****g fantastic? He ran all over the shop, I’ll give you that, but as a defender he’s woeful.

Nope, can't agree. He was left isolated massively. He was brill. By far our best player on the park. Goals came from everywhere I don't really care where they came from.

You've got an agenda against the BEST left wing back at our club. So does Critch. It's weird. Yet I'm sure you'd prefer to a see a right footed Callum Connolly there.

fair enough mate i just thought first half he was hungary and got on the ball but yes defensively needs work. Agree on Pennington but disagree re Virtue lol. It’s a game of opinions mate 👍.
 
Carey was in invisible last night, didn’t actually see him do anything.

Agree with both points towards Thompson, he looked good and seemed to have a bit of purpose about him.

He dropped off in the second half but the players were getting done and they looked demoralised as fuck.

I thought Weir looked good in parts, finding pockets of space and really should have had a crack at goal not too long before Dougall hit the post.

Apter looks the real deal, he looks class and needs to be involved more and more going forward, should start for me on Saturday.

Despite conceding 5 goals, thought Marv looked solid and didn’t give the ball away much.

Been saying this regularly & some say hes not good enough.
He could be the new Wes but we wont find out unless he starts or at least gets on from the bench!
I fear he will get loaned out again, & Holmes will as he cant even make the bench when we have no strikers! Ridiculous!
Critchley is clueless & wonder if hes worse than the 2 numpties last season?

No I wouldn’t. But maybe I’m a bit old fashioned- I like my defenders to be able to defend and we don’t have a left full back or wing back who can do that. One for the shopping list.

We play a back three as insurance so that the wing backs can attack. In theory. CJ is not a defender of any description. So we arent expecting the wing backs to be key defenders.

2 good games great record that. 4 goals in 18 months. A striker.

Why’s he only had a handful of starts? He’s spent half the time injured.
 
I can see why Critchley would struggle with Dom Thompson… His lack of discipline (positional and temperament) pretty much sums up the kind of chaotic football we played under Appleton for me.

Despite the criticism, I think CJ is still a more solid option as things stand.

Don't agree with that. CJ is not a wing back and creates problems for us.
 
CJ flatters to deceive, he's quick and should be able to take players on but often his first touch is woeful. One things for sure, he is in no way on Gods green earth, a defender, he should not be given any defensive duties at all.
So, either play him as an out and out winger on his strongest side and let defences worry about him rather than us worrying about his defending. If we aren't going to play a system/formation that allows him to play there, stick him on the bench or ultimately get rid.
Critchley needs to learn to put square pegs in square holes, these aren't Premier league quality players, they just can't adapt to a new system/tactic just like that, play them to their strengths! For Gods sake it's not rocket science, just common sense.

He may well be starting to lose you (and goodness knows how many other Blackpool fans), but, of even greater concern, is the fact that evidence would seem to suggest he has somehow TOTALLY lost himself as well ...
