Just back or 5 things we've learned or positives and negatives.

If we put in just as good a performance next week (forgetting the first 15 minutes) as we did yesterday and win 2 or 3 nil as such a performance would merit all this negativity will be forgotten and we will be well on course to win the title 😄

I'm not gonna quote all your post TD53 it just fills up the page too quickly.

I agree with what you say in fact there's some excellent points, but as a fan we feel frustrated that sometimes the basics or simplest things go wrong. I think as fans we should be allowed to express that. It's all done simply because we want to be the best we can be.

Aye, I agree m8. I'm not up for happy clappy anything goes and universal adoration no matter what but I think we have to give players and indeed managers a crack of the whip before decreeing them fatally flawed (not that you were)

I think it's also true that there's a ceiling on how good a league 1 side or player can be, especially in an era where it's virtually impossible to keep a player that a higher up club wants.

I sometimes wonder if I'm more easily pleased by Pool as I only really watch league 1 football 95% of the time so I tend essentially think "if they can do *something* and they try then they'll do for me" as I'm not watching Messi and so on for comparison.

It's clearly not quite worked yet but I think that's probably a combination of confidence, maybe a little bit of formation and probably the lack of one or two players as opposed to the fundamental unsuitably of the players we have.

If Hamilton 'lacks' attributes then that's why he's with us as if he possessed them he'd be in the Premier League. He was excellent again today, he hit the target twice, put maybe 5 decent balls into the box and had his marker on toast 3 or 4 times as well as generally linking up well with other players

If we're now criticising Hamilton, I'm baffled as the lad is just about the most exciting player I've seen for us for years. He terrifies defences. I tried to think of a player as exciting and granted I've got a big black Oyston shaped hole of a few years when I didn't go at all or even bother with highlights much, but I can't think of anyone since Matty Phillips and Ince who got me as excited when he gets the ball.
This exactly. He goes past people like they're not there and created two great chances for himself, the like of which he scored pre season. Their keeper was motm by a street.

Yeah, agree. As I said on the matchday thread they looked more dangerous than us. At least a couple of times in that second half they got to to the by line and close to our goal and we had to scramble it away.
EFL on Quest said we had plenty of firepower and won't have many nils. They also mentioned the number of chances we created and highlighted their keeper. Neutral observers without TTS.

Was there a chance where we opened them up and should have scored? One, when the keeper made a good save. Our "chances" were half chances from shots outside the box or from free kicks. We looked very good getting up to and in and around the area but from there we looked poor and didn't have the guile to break them down. I simply don't think we got enough men into the box as I've previously mentioned.
Hope it was a one off but yesterday it was a concern.

We have a young team. We needed to get off to a flyer. The longer we go without scoring and therefore without winning the harder it will be for them to perform well and we could be seen to be lightweight cannon fodder for other teams. The potential is there for us to fail when really these young lads are great. We need a legend, a talisman, a midfield captain, someone who has been there and done it.

CJ clean through and keeper lucky to deflect it wide with the keepers armpit.
CJ and Keshi combining down the middle before the keeper saved well.
Kaikai forcing two good saves from the keeper.
Keshi shooting through a crowd to have the keeper tip wide.
Plus more build ups that resulted in shots wide or over.

One shot? Different game than I watched.

Read my post properly. I'm talking about opening them up inside their box. There was only ONE chance with just the keeper to beat. Our shots were from outside the box. The keeper is there to save them. Those you describe apart from the first one were not where we opened them up. You even know it yourself by saying a shot "though a crowd". Kaikai forcing two good saves. From free-kicks not open play!

I say it again, read my post properly.

And I'll say again that CJ was one on one with the keeper twice just in the area and Keshi was also in the area when shooting.

Keshi's chance was not through opening them up though which was the point I made. I can recall one CJ chance as one on one in the first half. Can't recall the other.

Fotmob shots show 9 shots in the box and 10 outside. They also say we had 2 "big chances". I'm guessing one of those will be Yates header and the other CJ which was on his weaker right foot. If only it had fallen to two footed Nathan Shaw, oh I forgot Critch doesn't rate him so he wasn't in the squad. 😉

We're like spoilt kids with new toys who are bored of them by boxing day ffs

"But why haven't we got more presents"

lol.
To be fair we’ve had an element of the fanbase who have always been like that.

The Keshi and CJ interpassing straight through the middle of their defence. At least you've admitted CJs chance😉

What went against Shaw yesterday was.....
Left full back isn’t his preferred position.....
So it’s asking a lot for one so young to play out of position in a league match......
He’s a left winger

Yates should have buried his header....
CJ had 2 golden opportunities......
Keshi had a great opportunity.....
Some other dude hit row Z with a great chance

Winkey is frequently asked to play out of position and like the good pro he is always does his best.

No it wasnt. CJ picked up the ball near the half way line and ran into the area on the right hand side forcing the keeper into a save.
That wasn't the chance I was referring to. I'm talking about when the keeper came out and closed him down and put his arm up to push it out for a corner.

Exactly. You said we had one good chance, I've named 4 or 5 and now you're picking into detail to deflect and not admit you were wrong 🤣

They weren't good chances. Kaikai strikes a free kick and the keeper makes a decent save. Is it a "good" chance, No, it's an opportunity. Good chances are the ones where you say we should have scored. That wasn't the case. The keeper made some good saves but that's his job. If Maxwell had let any of those in we'd be saying he should have done better.

CJ had 2 easy chances....
Yates had an easy chance with his head...
Anderson had a decent chance...good save by keeper....
Some dude blazed over 2nd half....decent chance
