Well not quite, I stopped off for a celebratory Chinese takeaway on the way back to Wirral, but that has now gone south.
First half we were pretty dire apart from some great defending from Marv and Dembele absolutely threading a needle with that strike for the goal. Way too much backwards and sideways again and fans around me not too happy.
Shrewsbury offered very little. I think had they tried to overload us down the wings it could have been a different result. CJ in particular was nowhere in the game. How can Gabriel not be starting?
Second half started not much different and Critchley was attracting a bit of flak. We slowly got a grip in midfield though, with Byers, Coulson and the little magician outstanding. His work for the second happened right in front of me as he collected the ball, sent two of their defenders for a pie and stuck to ball bang on the excellent Coulson's head. After that we could have pushed on for a third, the Shrews were done.
Real celebrations and passion from some of the team at the end, particularly Byers, he is a serious find. Critchley was off down the tunnel pretty sharpish.
Looking back, 9 points from those four games is a good haul but now it's on to next Saturday, a big crowd hopefully and another must win vs Pompey.
It's the hope that kills you!
