Off to Cape Verde and booked through TUI.. Called in and expected them to say everything is cancelled but some holidays are still going ahead? Can't believe this under the circumstances and you can't get your money back unless Boris closes the airports. (My mother was also due to go but pushing 80 there's no chance I'm taking her).

Go for it. The world hasn't come to a full stop. It is just being made to look that way.

Happy holidays to you.

The UK government, bless them, advises against travel anywhere in the world. I gather this will void all travel insurance...............

This "advises" is a right old cop out - let's make sure we look after our banking and insurance chumps and f00k over all the plebs who could once afford a trip away. Dithering government with ulterior motives.😒

Don't do it. If you get stuck, or if anything at all happens, it will completely be your own fault.

"It is just being made to look that way" - by who? This is the kind of lazy, dangerous logic which is going to elongate this crisis unnecessarily. If we all take it seriously now, and change the way we live now, then the economy may have a chance of recovery and we might even have some kind of a tourism season this year.

Huge risk, you could be stuck over there, and bear in mind TUI are in dire straights, and could go under at any time.

When are due to go? This is on Tui's Website
"Due to the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19, the Foreign Commonwealth Office have advised against all but essential travel. We will therefore no longer be offering TUI Airways flights and holidays departing between 17 March and 16 April 2020.

We will proactively contact all customers due to travel up to and including 16 April 2020 to offer a range of flexible options, including moving their holiday to a later date. "

We are due to go to Jamaica on the 28th April but Jamaica aren't letting in any flights at the moment

According to Martin Lewis (money saving expert ) this ban on all but essential travel means you can claim a refund on your flight and accommodation even if the plane is still going and your room available . Which seems like some good news .

I think people need to get their heads round the facts.

The World is very different to what it was less than a week ago.

Forget what used to be normal. Holidays; trips to the pub, restaurants, gigs, concerts, festivals, a business, a job. Things are going to get worse. And the next few weeks/months are going to be very, very different to what we have known in the very recent past.

I mean, you're really going to have a ball when you get there. What comes first, worrying yourself shitless for 2 weeks or the pleasures of trying to find somewhere open.?

Answer one question do you want to be stuck in your room for two weeks or until they can fly home if they get cases there?

Has happened to my parents in Tenerife flew over last week and then total shutdown at the weekend only able to pop out to get groceries.
Prisioned the rest of the time in their room absolutely hating it.
Don't do it get on to Tui and rebook somewhere else later in the year if they won't reimburse your money.
