Just look at that passion

Love the passion and also the attacking intent even if it didn’t fully deliver (hard to go from shit to great in one game)

Just one minor area for improvement was I thought he got the substitution wrong when he took Rodgers off. Poveda had gone down with cramp and looked disinterested for the following 5 mins and had given up. We left him on the pitch only for him to later go off injured.
I thought both could have come off sooner.

Also I would have liked him at some stage to swap the wingers as neither were getting any joy against their full backs. So either swap them and see if it made any difference or when we were getting over run second half, make the obvious substitution quicker that he made with Patino coming on (leave 3 up front and additional player into midfield)

I don’t think we will see Poveda again. He limped off and doesn’t seem to have the fire in his belly when it’s not working for him.
He's young and needs a mentor on the pitch to shake him up from time to time.

And Nobbers away and Watford away
We at least passed the ball ok and had chances to score.

This was complete panic stations for most the game, wrong choices, bad passes etc.

It was definitely one of the most incompetent displays on the ball we've seen. Defensively it was alright but Wigan weren't very good so have to factor that in.

The early goal led to it, but it was not an impressive performance, infact we've seen similar from this group in the past once ahead, it's been at times attack vs defence and us in complete panic hanging on.

I agree with your criticisms but, as others have said, we may be turning the corner. Of course, it may be five games too late to turn the corner and then the great shame will be that the Board didn't turn to Dobs earlier. But then, everyone wins games in hindsight. Stick with it and we'll see if we're good enough tomorrow night. I doubt it but we'll see.

Was really impressed with Dobbie. He was out early for 2nd half all smiles signing autographs for kids. Can’t remember other managers doing that. Obviously didn’t need to say much to players at half time!

I'm hoping we improve and it was just a case of early goal and panicking.

I said we should have appointed Dobbie after Appleton went, so I'm all on board and was more than anyone really.

I've just judged the performance as I saw it, despite the positive messages, selection and being told to play through the thirds etc, a lot went out the window and it ended up panic stations.

As I've said, we'll have to be far better with the ball to beat WBA.

The players need to believe more in themselves in those situations and stick with what they were told, it's not something Dobbie can just solve overnight, we've seen it before from them, it's the first time he's seen it.

I'm sure he'll be working on trying to improve us in those situations.

Even having a moment of pointless possession at the back, until spaces open up, taking the sting out the game a bit.

What a relief to see us beat Wigan, and I was glad to see Brad Holmes on the bench. I know it was league one, but two years ago when he came on as sub the odd match, he got himself into some good goalscoring positions but the final pass never came to him.
Come on Stephen, we shouldn't be scared of West Brom Let's beat them tomorrow.
🧡UTMP🧡

Agree with that. Poveda was done after about 65 mins and should definitely have come off then. Talented lad but staying power and commitment is questionable.
Would sooner have an engaged, motivated and fit Poveda for 60 minutes than someone like a Carey who tries his best but doesn't really make any impact in a game.
