Kai Kai and Turton on the move

Both KaiKai and Turton were signings before the current ownership. Both did really well last season and will not be short of offers.
Unfortunately, we need better if we are to get into the premier league in the next three years, which I think will be Simon Sadler's goal.

Kaikai definitely superb on a good day. But big expense to carry if the good days can’t be guaranteed, ever.
Hope he does find his form wherever he goes and we see more of his flashes of excellence whoever he plays for 👏 ( unless it’s against us of course 😏).

Seems a bit odd with them being at times 2 of the best players but we don't have the full picture.

Kaikai could be class on his day, bit surprised about that and Turton mr consistent, very solid without much flair.

Maybe with the offer and what we might have coming in he wouldn't get as much time.

Either way let's see who comes in and what we put together this season.

We have the nucleus of a good squad. 4 or 5, maybe 6 quality additions and well be looking very strong.

I'd want a decent striker, good talent, this is where to splash a bit of cash for me, add to what we have.

LB, RB, fast and tricky left winger, Defender, Goalkeeper.

As well as keeping (or having back) ballard and simms, Gabriel.

Yes I appreciate the opinion bit, hope I’m not being a bit strong.
I get that as a sub. He certainly isn’t a starter.

SKK was an inconsistent luxury at times in League 1. He’s a player that needs to ball going through him a lot as his off the ball work isn’t good enough. The return on that trust from a coach has never been worth the risk. Look at his stats in terms of goals and assists. There were better performers in League 1 and I don’t see how that would improve in a higher league.

For Turton it was always going to be about whether he’d accept a bit-part role, potentially on a reduced wage or with no increase despite the promotion.

Shame for both, but I totally understand the thinking from the club.

Re Madine, I think he’s a good Ben Burgess type option IF the deal and likely squad role suits all parties.

Tend to agree with this, and I think the club are being pretty clear-headed about what needs to be done.

I wonder if Turton is going to Fleetwood or maybe even back to Crewe? He probably wants to be a starter at whichever club he goes to but deserves a lot of credit for the role(s) he played this season and the professional way he went about it. KaiKai again is a frustrating player at times, loads of ability but he did appear to have lost a bit of pace. If the goal at Sunderland is his legacy then it's not a bad one to bow out with. The one I am most surprised about is Madine being offered a contract. It doesn't mean he will sign it but I got the feeling that he and Critch didn't always get a long. It's going to be an interesting and exciting summer.

Huddersfield just been announced

He's 29 in December so last chance of a big contract. As pre-contracts can be signed months in advance, bearing in mind we were mid-table at the time, I reckon it is one of the lower Championship Northern clubs like Stoke, Huddersfield or if he's been unlucky one of the relegated pair Rotherham or Sheff Wed.
Good spot. Huddersfield.

Offered a new contract... doesn't mean it on better terms. I'd like him at the club as an option. But he'd have to be the same cost as last season
Agree. And he's also substantial experience of the division. To say "he isn't good enough" is totally untrue. And Critch clearly thinks he is.

you can't sign pre contracts with english clubs so if agreed a while ago it'll be Scotland or abroad.
Wrong it would appear. Huddersfield. I said earlier on today they'd be some surprises going out and some surprises coming in. Very surprised and a bit sad that Turts jumped

You can negotiate with English clubs in the last month, but only foreign clubs at 6-1 month remaining.

edit to add. Just seen he’s gone to Huddersfield so must have had a good offer in the last month!

Huddersfield seem to think he ll be ok

Harsh, he did an excellent job for us this season. Huddesfield seem to think he'll be ok
Good luck to him, just because I don’t rate as a player doesn’t mean I bear him any malice. I had nothing against him personally, don’t know the fella, just didn’t rate him. Anyway he’s gone now, suppose I’ll have to find a new whipping boy.😂😂

You, Memphis, 62, et Al 😊 Might be hard to find yourself one if recruitment is good

Ollie offered no.2 role to a new full back wants first team football, Sullays injury list a major point against him but thanks for some great goals and memories KK

Thank you to both Turton and Kaikai for their efforts and we wouldn’t be where we are are without both of them - though the palpitations after 50 seconds or so on Sunday could have been saved thanks Ollie! - but Turton has been here 4 years and Kaikai two and tbh the latter is a luxury player.

We are going to need grafters - and guile - this next season, whilst KaikI has the guile I’m not so sure he has the graft, unlike Turton who is all graft.

Cheers anyway boys and all the best fir the future, I’m sure you will both get a good reception at Bloomfield Rd whenever you turn up.

Mostly what we expected. Surprised by the Garrity option being taken up.

I’m glad Madine’s come back into the fold by the looks of it. A short term contract for him in the Championship is clever. He could get some crucial goals for us.

Would have kept Turton as a back up but if he’s getting offer what is probably the last decent contract he’ll get it’s a no brainer for him. Just means we need to recruit two right backs now.

KK, just didn’t turn it on often enough, injury didn’t help but there were times where he just didn’t look interested. Some cracking goals when he did turn it on. Both good players for the club, and go with my thanks.

I really hope Shaw signs, and there’s a clear path to the first team for him.

OT and Gabriel were almost taking it in turns to play at one point, and if Ollie foresaw more of the same coming next year then it's sad but not really surprising. Everyone wants to play as much as possible.

Quite surprised by Turton going, but he was actually out of contract. Kaikai we only had to take up his option didn't we? And he was pretty much a fixture when fit. Very surprised he's going. Not worried about us replacing either though.

Interesting Kaikai has won the Goal of the Season two seasons running - wonder how many other clubs would let a player go with that accolade!

The part that hurts most is

Loan players returning to parent clubs:

Daniel Ballard (Arsenal)
Elliot Embleton (Sunderland)
Jordan Gabriel (Nottingham Forest)
Ellis Simms (Everton)

But we always knew that would be the case. It’s not like we were going to sign them within five days of the end of the season.
Yep. And one of the few 'positives' of the previous era was knowing that there's a lot of options within the loan system. Obviously continuity is good and on that basis you'd think getting Ballard and Simms back would be something we'd want to do, but if that doesn't come about there's a lot of other options from the PL clubs.

Unfortunately some players miss out, some a lot of people are surprised at being let go.
However, we have to have great faith in Critchleys' decisions.
He's the one who has to pick the players and the team.
His decisions haven't been bad so far. 👍
