Sign of the times that we'll go from having Stan's and Harry's playing for us to a Keanu!!

Blackpool are keen on a move for St Mirren midfielder Keanu Baccus, according to the Daily Record

Blackpool have identified the Scottish Premiership man as a potential summer addition as Neil Critchley looks to bring in some reinforcements following the club’s relegation from the Championship.

Baccus, who is 24-years-old, sees his current contract expire at the end of next season meaning St Mirren are facing a battle to keep hold of him in the long run.
He joined them on a two-year deal back in April 2022 and he has since become a key player in the middle of the park.

When we hear of the player or potential deal before we sign the player ,
we rarely get the deal over the line
We offer some supposed big money but nothing happens
Recently the first we hear of a player is when they've signed .
Maybe it's the agents putting it out there
Or the club themselves trying to start a bidding war.

Sign him up !

I worked at the old Yates on Talbot Square in the early-mid 70s...what a place that was! Anyway, the tipical Friday and Saturday night demand was "Gimme a large Aussie white.. And make it snappy".
Ah, used to love the old Yates in the 70s.. Blue Train from the cocktails bar then back to Jenks..to watch Magic...stirs the memberberries...

Reports say Hapoel Jerusalem now want him. Israel seems quite a popular destination these days. Clark Robertson just signed for a club there. And of course Ben Mansford’s there too …

Keanu .. wo wo wo wo
Baccus wo wo wo wo
He comes from Down Under
He won't make a blunder
Keanu ......
Keane Baccus wo

He knew the place to go

Although he'd never.... etc etc

#keep the chant

Needs to become a club chant really not a player chant.

How self reliant are we on Yates being sold, this does come to mind !
Difficult to say, but I'm sure this has been discussed at board level, and the risks should have been weighed up. That said, the club already have money banked from the sale of Bowler and the compensation received from NC's departure to Aston Villa, so I'm not sure how much risk there actually is.

Only thing is, how much of the money ‘banked’ from the compensation they received from Villa has now been swallowed back up with securing Critchley again on a long term deal.?

Obviously there are ongoing bills. When people mention compensation for this and that not everything it put away for a rainy day is it.

Not a fan of things being in the papers before they are done. I think he’d be a decent signing. This transfer window is also a window into Sadler’s ambitions and confidence in his own abilities. He doesn’t like the finances of league one, so selling/not selling Yates and building a team around him or selling him and using funds to buy players make up for financial shortfall of league one will tells us who we really have for a chairman.

His biggest gamble is Critchley who showed his character when he quit on us the last time. If he backs Critchley again will he be off again at the next best for me opportunity that comes his way? Only time will tell.

Dreamer, that money has long gone and if Jerry get sold don't expect the money to go towards the team, it'll get eaten up paying for this season's losses, same old same old.

The bulk of our signings will be as per usual - the final week before the season starts and the players nobody else wants. Christmas Eve shopping.

As Koko used to say players get desperate the last week of the season so will sign on your terms not theirs. 😧

I doubt they've paid their 31.7 million debt off in 2 years
I thought it was under new ownership with no debt. Might be wrong.

Edit. They appear to have about 30m debt as you say but have structured loans that are being repaid. Penalties if not paid on time.

Bolton are in a financial mess and yet seem to have more chance of signing Baccas than us.
Who says they more chance of signing him than us? If some poster says so on AVFTT then obviously it must be 100% true😂😂😂😂 Baccas will be of interest to a number of clubs as will many many other players - he (unsurprisingly) may/will want to speak to some or all of these clubs to explore the options. I’m sure if it comes down to wages we will be as competitive as anyone.

Their last owner took over in 2019.
