Kenneth Dougall

Did really well tonight and glad we had him in there. Played some lovely one-twos, was integral to the first goal and battled really well with Trybull in the middle all night. I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea and he misplaced that pass to Bowler when we were breaking but I was glad to have him back tonight based on that performance!

He played some lovely one-twos, usually to the opposition, apart from that and his terrible corners he played really well.

he did indeed. Some of his passing was shocking. Especially that one when we were counter attacking in the second half and he played it pretty much straight to their full back. Thought he was ok but no better. First half, let's face it just bypassed the midfield with our hoof ball.

He's not perfect but he's a battler.

We just look better with him in the side and aren't cut through like a knife through butter.

He was involved in some good moments, a few not as good maybe, but he's solid.

He's not played regularly in while either.

Normally a supporter of Kenny, but tonight he was poor. Gave the ball away more then he normally does, ran into trouble and his passing was off. If we hadn’t lost Goode or Madine in the first half he would 100% have been dragged off.

Same here, I love Sir Kenneth and I also think if he'd been a mainstay this season we'd have picked up way more points, particularly during Appleton's 4-2-4 insanity - but I thought he was really poor tonight, maybe trying a bit too hard to throw himself at everything. Won the ball enough times but constantly just gave it straight back and then was on his arse and unable to recover in time.

I think we all know Kenny's limitations but with what we have available currently, like has already been said above, we are better with him than without him.

Exactly that, Trybull was excellent though. I'd like to see Trybull with Dougall and Patino or Poveda as the number 10 on Saturday with Yates p top and Rogers and Bowler out wide.

Thought he was great. True professional. It doesn't reflect well on Appleton the way he ignored KD, especially when you see some of the midfielders he did sent out.

It was said to me by a prolific and controversial poster in here “who in their right mind would pick Dougall over Patino” in my call to rest Charlie and unleash the Trybull / Dougall partnership.

For me it’s the midfield pairing that we need right now. Pragmatic in as much as we need their energy and aggression until a time comes where we have more space in midfield for flair places to express.

Thought both Trybull and Dougall had similar games, did the dirty, defensive stuff quite well, broke up play and were commited and energetic.

That being said, once the play was broken up they couldn't pick a pass to save their lives unless it was back to Maxwell, I'd play them again against Rotherham hopefully with Bowler/Rogers/Poveda in front of them to give them half a chance to do the second part of their job (move the ball forward to a more creative player).

Dougall isn't there to spray the passes around. He's there to protect the defence and be defensively disciplined so that we don't have massive gaping holes in the centre of the pitch (like we've had for 90% of this season when he hasn't played). Consequently, Hudders still struggled to get at our defence properly even with ten men. If we'd played Carey and Patino in midfield yesterday we'd have been absolutely torn apart, mainly because though they're both better than Dougall on the ball, they get dragged all over the place on the pitch and hardly ever in position.

I can’t say I’ve heard him getting shit from the crowd, very good player in general but he shouldn’t be anywhere near a corner or free kick in my opinion

Clipped an excellent free kick to the back post which Nelson fluffed.

Corners, well, people generally expect far too much from them on general. They have about a 1 in 30 conversion rate.

Dougall is another scapegoat like Maxwell. I can understand the Maxwell one but not Dougall.
I can't understand why either of them get the stick they do. Maxwell played well last night. The only thing he did "wrong " was he didn't throw the ball forward quick enough to our lone striker who was marked by two or three big defenders. How disgusting!!🤔

Yes he is alright. Anything where you need to stretch, you are never confident with him. No Championship keeper should be getting beaten by that Boro strike.

Certainly doesn't deserve the abuse he got last night. It was very uncomfortable. I joined in the boos at half time as it was a disgrace of a performance but you don't single out individual players.

We're a better team with Kenny in. He's always there for us and not lying on the treatment table like some of our other esteemed midfielders.

He'll do for me will Kenny (and his ball across to Lyons for the start of the first goal was a peach).

Dougall played okay but i would not say he was best player on the night.
I can give you one flaw in Douglas armoury.
He does have a tendency to pull out of tackles. Happened a couple of times last night.
Maybe concerned about getting injured but a lot of ex pros and pundits always say that you are more likely to get injured if you don’t challenge wholeheartedly for the ball.
Just my opinion😊
