Kouassi

I don't often comment but some peoples knowledge of football/players and the way the game is played on this site is beyond belief. I can't make my mind up if people put things on to wind people up or they are serious.

He is a genuine prospect.
Think he has a good head on his shoulders and dedicated.
What’s not to love in such a young player?

He’s 5” 9” I’d say that’s on the small side for those that are taking the piss but he puts himself about and wins things in the air I wasn’t being negative
He's 6'1" according to Kylian Kouassi, so that's probably more accurate, unlike post after post from yourself.

100% this.

Too many think that real football is like playing FIFA - every player must win every ball, every pass must is perfect, and all that matters is beating a man and shooting. They don't understand anything about space or shape or dragging defender around to make room for others in the team.

There's a whiner who sits behind me somewhere in the south who only ever shouts "take him on", regardless of where we are on the pitch, or whether it's a 1v1 or a 1v10. Does my head in.

Shocking really because if you're going to matches you'd assume they were actually interested in how the game works!

He’s handy to have on the bench if we want to waste time with 5 to go but playing from the start it’s a definite no.

He did very little apart from scoring a tap in
Not often I disagree with you TAM but I thought Lavery was a constant thorn in Cheltenhams side until he was wrongly subbed. He outpaced his man a number of times and scored ...the reward is to dropped(Again)...|Critchley ruined his confidence last time he was here and I fear he will do the same again

Can someone explain to me what Kouassi provides to the team? I’ve only been able to make it to a few games that he’s played in and every time he’s been ** useless. He’s got no pace and makes no runs in behind. He’s a huge unit of a man but gets muscled off the ball easily and has no aggression. He applies no pressure when they have the ball.

He scored a hattrick against a team of kids in the week but whenever I’ve seen him play he just jogs around like a headless chicken and provides nothing.

I don’t get it
I see your point cos I've thought the same. However, I do think there's a good player in there. Is he worth a start? Not at the moment.

Just an off game today for him but there is talent in there if only some fckwit manager would get some rapid winger on the books who could get down the line and get some crosses into the box that he could get on the end of.

Kouasi, like Oakley-Booth, is a promising youngster that shouldn't have been in the starting line-up, today, unless we had no other options! Both players have shown that they have ability but that ability needs to be nurtured, protected and developed rather than thrown in to the bear pit of a top of the table L1 clash!

Missed 2 really good pivotal chances that could have seen us going in at halftime ahead. But he is a promising youngster who us going to cause problems for defences for years to come.
Ironically JR had his most ineffective game for us yesterday.

I would start Kouassi on Wednesday, Henegham always seemed to struggle against the stronger centre forwards.

You’re so wrong it’s untrue. Immobile lumps like Heneghan like playing against other immobile lumps like Kouassi what they don’t like is playing against pace and players running in behind, Lavery must start. Don’t think I could cope with another 90 minutes of Kouassi jogging along the opposition back line at snails pace as if he’s waiting for an appropriate time to scale the ropes in a Wrestling bout.

“The stronger centre forwards”

This is the most confusing thing about Kouassi to me. For such a big lad he gets muscled off the ball and pushed about very easily every time I’ve seen him play. If he was good at winning the ball and hold up play I’d be more forgiving of the fact he has no pace and makes no runs in behind but he’s not

Muscled off the ball?

His strength and ability to hold onto the ball are absolutely incredible.

Stand up when you post, you might get more volume

Just watched the extended highlights, for his first chance he really should have done a lot better. At the match I thought he had a good opportunity to score from both.

The fact he is only 20 does make me think there are some strange lines that Critch invents for his players.
Some are match fit and some aren’t, some are too young but other the same age aren’t and some get dropped immediately after a poor game but others dob’t.

Maybe you could explain what’s driving your logic here?

We have 20 year old players in the team as things stand…Kouassi and Dembele.

There are some obvious differences in terms of the position and one is a loan player, the other our own player, but both of them have been treated largely the same in terms of game time.

My goodness the replies to this post have aged like a fine wine over the past 2 weeks 🤌🏻
I’ll accept apologies in the form of pints

Sorry but nowhere near good enough. The fact Critchley can't see it is worrying and unfair on the lad to be thrown in. Let him develop

not having it, probably not his best game today, but hes a genuine player. The problem with a flat three in midfield we dont get the runners up to the strikers from midfield hes winning header bit no one picking up, second half we played with two advanced properly attacking midfielders, we won the ball back much more often in the middle third as well. after the second round of subs we reverted to the flat three in midfield an lacked the kind of intensity and werent winning the ball back in their half.

He makes Joe Nuttall look good.

Watch the game against Reading. He scored 1 and had a hand in the other 3 goals. It was his flick on at Barnsley to CJ that led to the penalty.
To say he gets easily muscled off the ball is laughable , did you see the last 5 minutes against Cheltenham?

He's been a passenger last few games, although we're often playing crap when he's been on.

If he was on in the 2nd half he'd probably look a lot better.

The fact he was hoisted off so early on makes the need to watch TTV necessary!
I like Kouassi but you must confess @Wizaard he had a stinker last night!
Never in the game, true enough, but partially because of the appalling service in the first half, with Carey and Oakley Booth worse than anonymous.

Carey was lucky to stay on but improved massively in the second half. After my recent criticism of him, he answered that second half by doing what he should have done in the previous few games.

Having said that, it was his careless pass that led to their equaliser.
