Kouassi

Can someone explain to me what Kouassi provides to the team? I’ve only been able to make it to a few games that he’s played in and every time he’s been ** useless. He’s got no pace and makes no runs in behind. He’s a huge unit of a man but gets muscled off the ball easily and has no aggression. He applies no pressure when they have the ball.

He scored a hattrick against a team of kids in the week but whenever I’ve seen him play he just jogs around like a headless chicken and provides nothing.

I don’t get it

Look again. The full 90 minutes are on TTV

The lads just turned 20 - never played at this level and yet is looking quite comfortable playing against some experienced and physical teams. If he’d come through our academy people would be creaming themselves over him. Give him 6 months working with Critchley, learning from the likes of Jordan Rhodes and playing against players at this level and he’ll be some talent.

That has to be one of the most stupid posts I’ve ever read on here. It’s the same sort of nonsense written about Jerry.

Suggest you look at the results when he’s started to see what he brings. The mere fact he is there, is what he brings and how it benefits us offensively. He holds the ball up brilliantly, he’s powerful and can turn quickly and get away from players. He can find a nice pass and link well. He wins headers and directs them. He takes the defensive focus off Rhodes and it’s obvious that our wide players benefit too. Without him we don’t keep the ball well and are unable to sustain pressure.

yep, nonsense o/p. Sure it wasn't his best game yesterday but as a target man I'm sure he'd have been pretty frustrated that most of the long balls played forward were of the diagonal variety out to the wings. In fact I'd suggest there were more balls hit towards Rhodes than him.

Some are born thick, some achieve thickness and some have thickness thrust upon them.

Yep I noticed that. The long balls to him he controlled well, headers & hold up play. Lavery does none of these.
He was also decent defending set pieces, many times clearance headers. Also can clearly improve with fitness & game time.
Hes started 3 games, won all 3.
Came on at ht on Tuesday scored a hat trick!
Need a target man alongside Rhodes.
Crazy op!

In minutes played in league games he’s featured for less than two and a half games and scored one goal. His run towards the Stevenage goal and trip led to Dougall‘s free kick which hit the top of the bar. In the EFL trophy he has played in two games, a total of 78 minutes and scored four goals. He can hold onto long balls and link and bring others in. A very promising start, I’m sure there is a lot more to come.

The o/p is absolute bollocks, I'm afraid, he may be far from the finished article, raw and inexperienced but he brings something different to the team, a bustling, physical presence that gives defenders something to think about.
He's young, strong and learning the game, he's making goals and scoring goals, what more could you ask of him at the moment? And with any luck he can only get better.

Can someone explain to me what Jordan Rhodes provides to the team? Apart from scoring loads of goals, assisting others, winning us games, linking up play and causing difficulties for the opposition, I can't see that he contributes anything.
** useless.

*joining in with the OPs sentiments

Some of those kids are older then him and they play for a possibility of playing in the prem . What I will say is you have a point about the lack of pace and he did get knocked off the ball by Stevenage ,who are a physical team. Yet because of his size he frightens defences , we know he can score goals , Rhodes and him were excellent against Reading and he will get stronger as the season goes on.

And the roads, and sanitation......

People getting far too over excited. He wasn't great yesterday but he does add presence to the team. He is making progress but expectations need to be real.
If he becomes nothing more than a half decent league 1 centre forward then that will be fine. Like you say keep the expectation realistic but the fact is he looks a better partner for Rhodes than Lavery or Beesley so that probably makes him a regular starter.

I think he has the potential to easily make it in the championship

Maybe, it's early days, but for him and us making it as a top half league 1 centre forward is pretty good. He can earn a few grand a week for 10 years and we could probably sell him for at least £500,000.
He just needs to make the most of his ability and talent, if you do that you find your level and everything takes care of itself.

For a small lad he puts himself about and wins a fair amount in the air he put rhodes in, in the first half he’s a handful brings a lot more to the team than Gary Madine and possibly more than Yates too

Not a single reply on this post has answered my question or convinced me otherwise. 'What a bad take from the op' with no argument is less than convincing.
Perhaps it's the fact that we had a convincing 3-0 home win and you chose to post slagging one of our new 20 year old players off. People can't be arsed explaining why this is stupid.

Not the brightest are you...

Not to mention when he's made 3 starts we've won all 3 games, his only other 2 appearances have been as a sub in the last ten minutes of games, 93rd minute of one.
It's amazing the OP has the footballing knowledge to accurately judge a player's ability in that time.

Not to mention that he stated in his initial post how he’s only been to a handful of games this season, yet he expects what he says to be taken as gospel.

I imagine it’s someone taking the piss trying to get a rise out of fans more than anything. See it all too often on here. Some posts are funny to be fair, but this one isn’t a “knock for the ages” I’m afraid.

jeez, the last part of your post is as bad as the o/p. Not one single player in our team worked harder than what Yates did and for a struggling team he contributed plenty of goals as he always did in his time here.

He's nowhere near as good as that giant Dembele.

He’s 5” 9” I’d say that’s on the small side for those that are taking the piss but he puts himself about and wins things in the air I wasn’t being negative
