I still want to see that official announcement and for that other guy too, surely soon...Just been reported its a 3 year contract
It's always positive and exciting when strikers are signed.

Beesley has looked decent when he's been on the pitch, he just had an injury which meant he hasn't actually been on the pitch very often (like a lot of the team last year).I'd still say very light - really hope Beesley comes good but just can't see it - have to hope the loans Gods are kind to us!
The question now is would he be the main striker or is someone else coming in to take than mantle? Don't think that would be Martin, he'd be one of 4/5 used as and when.Hopefully this one can all be put to bed imminently!
I have a slight throwaway theory/guess that Martin was lined up but went by the wayside when we got a sniff that we had a chance of Joseph. Makes me think that we go for another experienced option but for a different type of player … either a number 10 or someone who can be nippy and get in behind defences (Billy Sharp )The question now is would he be the main striker or is someone else coming in to take than mantle? From what Swansea and Oxford fans have said, he isn't an out and out striker. He plays much better on the right of a front 3. My suspicion is that we have somone else in the pipeline for the striker role, but that's just a guess on my part. The question now is would he be the main striker or is someone else coming in to take than mantle? He had one good game against a Birmingham side who weren't in the slightest bit interested in being there and shipped 6, otherwise he's been largely anonymous, I hope he comes good but I've seen nothing to suggest it yetBeesley has looked decent when he's been on the pitch, he just had an injury which meant he hasn't actually been on the pitch very often (like a lot of the team last year).
My guess is that Joseph replaces Yates and we will bring in a Gaz replacement. Of sorts. Experienced player, who can hold the ball up. Laverys best position is as a number 9 so we just need someone to play on the left probably Hamilton Critchley seems to like himFrom what Swansea and Oxford fans have said, he isn't an out and out striker. If we play three up front that'll bugger up the three five two plan.Laverys best position is as a number 9 so we just need someone to play on the left probably Hamilton Critchley seems to like him
Only a suggestion more that I feel lavery’s best position is at number 9 in and around the 6 yard boxIf we play three up front that'll bugger up the three five two plan.
I'm inclined to think we pulled out of the Mark Harris race when it became apparent Joseph fancied the move.I have a slight throwaway theory/guess that Martin was lined up but went by the wayside when we got a sniff that we had a chance of Joseph. Critch describes him as a centre forward, for what that's worth! Think a front 2 suits Lavery and probably Beesley. Sadly it gets the best out of Jez as wellFrom what Swansea and Oxford fans have said, he isn't an out and out striker. He plays much better on the right of a front 3. Possibly but who knows? Gone quiet, which could mean anything.Chris Martin?
Sounds very promising, I particularly liked the comment on his 'fantastic self-worked' goals. Many of Jerry's were too.Another Oxford fan opinion in response to those saying Joseph was nowt special....
"I'm gutted.
It's remarkable to me how easily people are writing off Joseph. The lad is 21 years old and carried our attack last season. His goals kept us up and each of them were (by and large) fantastic self-worked goals. He did all this as a young loanee at a club in disarray.
For context, Paul Moody didn't score a professional goal before his mid-20s.
I'm telling you now, Kyle Joseph will score a lot of goals at this level (and/or above). I can't for the life of me understand why people are so quick to write him off."
And...
I've made my feelings clear about Joseph previously, but in a nutshell - I voted for him as POTS and think he will get even better naturally but also with the benefit of a better team/environment around him. I think he would have got that here, this season. The system we are likely to use would have suited him and I always expected him to get 15+ in a top half side anyway.
And...
Could not fault his work rate think he will do well for them unfortunately. Probably destined for bigger things if he does well this year.
Very well done there, changing Keith to Kyle.Kyle Joseph smiles and a baby dies….
In a box on Beesley Street
