Kylian Kouassi

I don’t want to rain on the parade but as the man who outed Beesley as not even league 2 standard and got pelters for it, proved right but I’m not one to say I told you so, I really wouldn’t hang your hat on the big guy. Yes he did well today but studying him I don’t think he has the technique or pace to trouble any half decent Defender, he was up against the worst defence I’ve seen for a while today. Hoping Joseph proves to be the answer otherwise I’d be on the blower to the goal machine. Had a dream the other night that we got to the play off final and he came off the bench and got a late winner in front of the Pool end, diving header.
I kind of agree with you but he doesn't look fully fit yet to me and he can only improve both physically & technically as the season goes on.

Had a dream home debut after impressing when he came on in the cup game and scored. He is a proper striker, strong, fast, good in the air and linked brilliantly with Rhodes, if he can keep that sort of performance up and improve he is going to be some player. Well played son.

As for the rest of the team, the big difference was Dale in for Connolly, it worked, he had a great game and boy can he put a cross in, he was awesome today as was CJ. They both tracked back too and got tackles in but the back 3 were really solid and covered a lot of ground and still managed to get forward. Hubby is essential in this, he played across the back 3 at times and his outlet balls were excellent, close to my MOM today.

I also thought, after the first 10 minutes the midfield 3 did their jobs really well, all 3 are experienced players and all slightly different, shame Kenny got injured, I hope he is okay and I also rate Virtue, he is a powerhouse and you can see his Liverpool pedigree, it's no coincidence that Lincoln desperately wanted him off us, we did the right thing keeping him.

I thought Weir did okay when he came on but I see Carey more as a number 10 than a number 8 so he was a little lost I thought. Connolly coming on for Dale showed how badly Critch has got it wrong as he just does not work in that position but he is a great player to have on the pitch.

Dembele barely had any time to shine but he put a great ball through to Weir who should have scored and he could have got a goal himself at the end but for the offside. He needs to be playing.

I hope Critchley sticks with Kouassi, I like Lav's but he huffs and puffs a lot and we still have Joseph to come too.

It is really pleasing to see a performance like that especially after the first 10 minutes when we looked like strangers. The pen settled us down and we took control after that, Tough game next Saturday but no better time than to get our first league away win.

All we want is to see the team enjoy it and play well and they certainly did today.
Have you ever thought of just calming down and taking a reasonable opinion after each game? You literally want critch sacking after every loss and love the team after every win? I'm embarrassed for you

Let's answer your message properly. I am emotional when it comes to the Pool, I just want us to do well, I want Critchley to do well and today we were great and it was without the elephant in the room. Reading were awful so we need to bare that in mind and the next few games will tell us more. I'm not going to apologise for having highs and lows, that's football, especially when you love a club, like we all do, I am not convinced Critchley is the right manager but he was clearly royally fucked off after last week and he was brave enough to make major changes, It's in all our interests that that he does well, faffing abut with new managers isn't a good thing but we have been pretty shit in a few games this season, particularly away so we need to get that monkey off my back.

As for Sadler, he is a great custodian of the club but his football decisions lead a lot to be desired, so I reserve judgement on that but again hope that experience will start to improve his decisions, it's not a job Id want.

To be fair you thought Yates was shit too. It's far too early to say but it was a great debut and he's scored 2 in 2 and let's hope he becomes a good player for us.

A fair few on here were saying Kouassi was a waste of space and a sign of zero ambition, that he’d never break out of the development squad and that Rhodes was way past it…

And those same lot slate we when I say fans often don’t really know what they’re talking about 🤷‍♂️
None of us really know what we are talking about to be fair, but I was delighted we signed Kouassi as he was a low risk signing and the sort of striker Posh sign regularly and turn them into really good players. As for Rhodes, he has dropped a division and it was pretty obvious it was a shrewd signing and he would score for fun in this league if he got the service, he should be on 6 goals already but for the terrible decision last week.

Early days.

I think we all saw something we've not had. Let's hope he can build on this.

Critchley too. Like people constantly say with CJ, it's a 1 in 10/15 good game, so the same with NC. Let's get some consistency.

To be honest, I thought Rhodes wouldn't be even half of what he is. What do I know?

Well it's the first time I've ever seen us put 4 past a team that won 9-0 in its previous match.

Was the perfect measured ball to CJ poor? What about the perfectly guided header into the top corner? how about the perfect knock down for CJ which he made the defender look absolutely shit.

You've watched closely and seen him lacking what?

In my eyes, he's absolutely got the attributes to improve us and give us a very different option to what we have and to be a direct part of 3 goals (and arguably a contributer to a fourth) is some feat, regardless of whether reading were shit or not.

I genuinely don't get what you've seen to make you certain this lad isn't worth a shirt, because for me, he created chaos that Rhodes exploited brilliantly and we looked miles better for his presence.

Great OP, today was 3-5-2 at its best; steely midfield, solidity at the back, creative wing backs, and a clinical strike partnership.

Love Kouassi getting the start and rewarding the faith instantly. Him, Lavery, and Joseph are going to benefit massively from playing with Rhodes.

Dale was infinitely more effective than Connolly. He’s a good stop gap until Lyons is back.

Reading are going to be a lower mid table team and doing that to them at home doesn’t say a lot, but it is promising nonetheless.
As I've said elsewhere, what Dale might lack defensively, he was a threat going forward, whereas its not in Connolly's gameplan to think about pushing on, but just sit there.

That change in intent was the massive difference from last week.

Yeah but Memphis was right about Beesley, he's not even league 2 sta... oh wait, he did quite well in league 2, that's why we signed him! 😂

As good as the measured pass was to win the penalty, I was also impressed by the way he spun the defender on the halfway line to get away and play the pass.

Good debut and something we've not had since Gaz got injured.

What I also liked was just because he's a big lad, the hoof to him was never the default ball. Good performance from all.

The hoof wasn't the default ball because we finally had a midfield!

I think you'll not be surprised to find I've expanded somewhat on the succinct description above elsewhere... 😉

They were very good.

A fit Virtue adds something. I think the problem we've had with Virtue is he's been basically injured or coming back from injury or not here for about 3 years. The three of them complimented each other well.
I also think that, like Keith Southern, Dougall makes the midfield work if he's left to play the way he knows best! Make him sit in front of the defence, as happened too often over the last two seasons, and he's wasted! Let him play and be where he needs to be and he'll break up play, show for the ball, create chances for others, get up in support of the strikes as well as back to support the defence. He's never going to be the world beater that people want but he's the type of player that every world beater wants beside him!

The width added a lot too. The midfield didn't have to do anything too crazy because there were options - the direct ball to Kouassi, the wide players bombing on. It just looks a lot easier then.

The balance of the team finally looked right today. It wasn't the finished product, I hope, there are improvement to be made if we're to have an impact on the top end of the table, but the signs today were encouraging!

No it's not the finished product and a better team will give us more to think about - but I think it's really important they get some confidence and belief because we'll need that against those better sides - which probably include some teams who'll play a lot less football than Reading.

We had a period where we absolutely bossed it. We were literally walking the ball around at the end of the first half cos they'd been so outplayed.

They need to enjoy it. Players like Dougall and Virtue in particular, they've had a really long run of shit with us.

I must confess when I saw his name on the team sheet, I did think 'which one is he' and when I saw he was the Sutton player who was supposedly heading for the Development Squad I did wonder if Critch had lost leave of his senses. Let's hope he has a few more days when he needs the smelling salts.

Akinfenwi or an unfair comparison?
UNFAIR COMPARISON:
Someone during the match made that comparison. I jokingly replied with "Never, his tits were always offside."
On Kylian Kouassi's first few runs, he allowed himself to be hustled off the ball far too easily, but grew into the match superbly, and what a brilliant headed goal. He totally deserved his standing ovation.
🧡UTMP🧡

Far better shape & movement all round & the timings of the substitutions NC got right until Connelly appeared & took up the LWB spot. One that never gets injured. Not wishing anything on him & it's Critchley's bizarre stance but I wish he'd be kept a good arms length away from the match day squad other than right of a back three when injuries & suspensions kick in.

How do you get away with behaving like that on hear?

Some of the stuff you come out with is outrageous but you never seem to get banned.

Isn't it odd how two people think you're a **? Spineless loser who tries to tell people he has mates on an internet forum. You don't need to prove to me you have friends pal? Sounds like a little lonely world you live in.

I think that you and hertfordseasider have got plenty in common not least resorting to the use of shocking language when called out.

You still haven't told us who you are

That's the difference and why you have zero respect

I know Kurt and Hertfordshire as well as a shed load of others in the real world

So I will ask again

Who are you?

I pm’d him too last night Phil, not sure why considering he had made libellous comments about me which were removed by the mods immediately thankfully but he hasn’t the decency or the courage to reply. He clearly has an agenda and I wouldn’t be surprised if we know him from the past. Oh, and my PM was not rude or insulting it was actually the opposite.

The mods should remove your profile post where you advertise an illegal stream that gets you all of our matches for 50 quid then.

Thank you for sharing that, I never put that on my profile so someone has clearly gained access to my account, it is removed now and I will take it up with the AVFTT admin.
