Gone sidewaysOne thing Im confused with is, has Lisa ( here in Wigan) Nandy been demoted or promoted?
Most of the Labour MP's are a shower, but I actually like Lisa
The key position of shadow chancellor is held by Analese Dodds (I think) - IMO she is not a big hitter (she 's more of a Phil Tuffnell) and should be replaced. John McDonnell in the Corbyn years was actually IMO a better communicator than Corbyn himself and was regularly in the media, Starmer needs the centerist equivalent. Ed Miliband looks like a bit of a wasted talent in his current role, why not bring him back centre stage?Looks like he is trying to replace the nonentities with competent people who can make a speech and argue their case. The Labour front bench has been very poor IMO, this move should make them look more like a credible government in waiting. Good move IMO.
I think it's indicative of where Labour see the major battleground (Levelling Up) in the run up to the next election and positioning, what is probably perceived to be, their most credible MP as shadow to Gove.Gone sideways

Leaving yourself aside, who else thinks Boris is their hero?Doesn't matter what Starmer does BORIS is the countries hero so Stamer won't get in
Who's 'Keith'?Statement of intent as to where his policies are for the next election lie. Some big anti Brexit anti borders pro immigration people. Has Keith made the right decision.
Starmer, i cant stand the name KierWho's 'Keith'?
Makes that third nipple stand on edge.Starmer, i cant stand the name Kier
I wonder if they're still celebrating their decision?4.5 million labour voters jumped ship when faced with voting for commie Corbyn as PM.
Starmer knows he has to woo these ex labour voters back for the next general election along with those Tories that have had enough of Boris.
I can't imagine why...Starmer, i cant stand the name Kier
Without a doubt like I said it stoped Commie Corbyn getting in.I wonder if they're still celebrating their decision?
And what benefits have the Red Wall seen in the past two years?Without a doubt like I said it stoped Commie Corbyn getting in.
Starmer has got another 2 years to win back the deserters.
Benefits. And what benefits have the Red Wall seen in the past two years?
A lot less of Corbyn for starters. And what benefits have the Red Wall seen in the past two years?
Seriously though, instead of the apparent horror of Corbyn, what has the old Etonian they voted for delivered for them?Benefits.
No jobs, just claims to benefit.
You're not answering the question.A lot less of Corbyn for starters.
They haven’t, I’ve never said they ever had have i?You're not answering the question.
How have those communities levelled up (c) under this government?
So they haven't gained anything by voting for this government? They haven’t, I’ve never said they ever had have i?
But stopping Corbyn getting in power was paramount that’s why 4.5m Labour voters voted against him.
HS2. Scrapped along with the thousands of jobs in construction it was bringing.Seriously though, instead of the apparent horror of Corbyn, what has the old Etonian they voted for delivered for them?
But Miliband was castigated by the right wing media and we ended up with a Cameron majority, how well that went...Ed Miliibamd always presents well with his passion and fire when I see him on TV. He’s also got a nice line in self deprecating humour
Agree or not with policies, he should be a front bencher - at least to get the challenges into the Government coherently and bring opposition which has been lacking last 2-3 years.
They’ve got about 5 or 6 known faces who can communicate well - put them front of centre and hope the party finds a few more hidden away. As Lytham says. Northern MPs would be interesting just to challenge the lack of levelling up
Levelling DownHS2. Scrapped along with the thousands of jobs in construction it was bringing.
Social care costs capped. At a level which means you lose your house in the North but not down South.
BEIS moving to a new Northern HQ. We've decided to stay in London.
They gained everything by not voting Corbyn in power, short term pain for long term gain.So they haven't gained anything by voting for this government?
If they have voted for a government which you admit does nothing for them, why was this preferable to voting for Labour?
Why, what would Corbyn have done that was worse than this government? They gained everything by not voting Corbyn in power, short term pain for long term gain.
I doubt very much any of these 4.5m voters will stick with Boris do you?
He’d have been much worse at trough delving. Why, what would Corbyn have done that was worse than this government?
Jesus Lytham where do you want to start? Why, what would Corbyn have done that was worse than this government?

A more visible figure but given that I am interested in politics but didn't know she had replaced Dodds suggests she is not doing enough.Rachel Reeves is now shadow chancellor since the last reshuffle in May this year.
Instead of the Northern powerhouse, Johnson has delivered 'Northerners we take your house'!HS2. Scrapped along with the thousands of jobs in construction it was bringing.

How does any of that effect the daily lives of red wall voters? Why would Putin be taking his holidays,at Chequers? That doesn't make any sense and is just silly hyperbole.Jesus Lytham where do you want to start?
Nuclear arms deterrent being phased out, armed forces being cut, Putin taking his holidays at chequers.
And for someone who has been in the arms industry for 35 years that alone is more than enough for me.
It’s about protecting our country no sacrificing it.
I don’t think to have a Nuclear deterrent is an ‘ego’ project at all far from it.How does any of that effect the daily lives of red wall voters? Why would Putin be taking his holidays,at Chequers? That doesn't make any sense and is just silly hyperbole.
As for protecting the country, most of its infrastructure has been sold off to foreign concerns anyway, that was one policy Corbyn was going to change if you want to get all patriotic, you know, UK utililities and transport actually being owned by the UK.
We're part of NATO, having a nuclear deterrent of our own is a wildly expensive ego project.
So what has been an actual tangible benefit of the Tories being in power for the North?
But if we're part of NATO why isn't it an ego project?I don’t think have a Nuclear deterrent is an ‘ego’ project at all far from it.
In answer to your other points none.
Surprised you didn’t mention the minor things like protecting 60 million people. But if we're part of NATO why isn't it an ego project?
£200+ billion for roughly 10k jobs.
But we're already protected to the same degree as part of NATO, did you skip past that point?Surprised you didn’t mention the minor things like protecting 60 million people.

Foreign Secretary is one of the top four positions in Govt and shadowing it is a statement of seniority in the Opposition. However, Starmer has chosen his team based on an election footing. Foreign affairs rarely feature highly in General Elections and Nandy's new role will be critical. A clever move by Starmer. The same is true of Ed Miliband's repositioning to the climate change portfolio.I think it's indicative of where Labour see the major battleground (Levelling Up) in the run up to the next election and positioning, what is probably perceived to be, their most credible MP as shadow to Gove.
