Lavery for Dembele bizarre

If he'd have took him off at half time and replaced him with Weir, I'd not have complained. Dembele grew into the game in the 2nd half and was our most creative player so why take him off? I think it's one of these reasons or both. Critch had it in his plan and wasn't going to deviate from it no matter what or Dembele was knackered and lacking match fitness and didn't want to risk him for 90 mins.
Personally, I'd have took Carey off, moved Demebele into his position and put Laver/ Kouassi up with Rhodes.
I don't think we played that bad tbh. We were caught out when pushing forward. It's shit losing at home but we move on to Appleton on Saturday.

And yet we waited until he was influencing the game before we pulled him, truely bizarre.
I think influencing the game is a bit much. He had a couple of nice touches, but seemed lazy to me and the game largely passed him by. Everyone is slating Carey but 2nd half he went looking for the ball and tried to be a bit more adventurous and up the tempo.

Starting Carey was the problem not Dembele. Careys place should have gone to another forward. Hopefully lessons have been learned after last night's game. This should be the team for Charlton.
Grimshaw
Pennington Casey Husband
Lyons Norburn Dougall Hamilton
Dembele
Kouassi Rhodes

The added bonus with this lineup is it easily transforms into a 4 4 2 if needed without making a sub.
A good side that I think most would be happy with. I can almost guarantee Mr C will think differently.

So, if we can just help him with addressing this recurring problem he has of falling 'over the ball', there is time yet for him to become, albeit somewhat belatedly, the finished article as an attacking wing-back!

I simply can't wait for that moment to arrive. Do keep me posted, Wiz. The sense of anticipation is killin' me!
He was man of the match and in my eyes deservedly so. If you take in the failures of other players ,but look at who was the most productive even though his ball control is poor , he was our best player like it or not. I admit he will never be Messi
