Lavery

great to see him on the score sheet last night.
whether scoring for us or his country it is the mindset and confidence when a striker is scoring he himself takes the pressure off himself and plays without fear some of the pundits said he missed a couple of sitters well Harry missed 3 sitters too but hes rated as one of te best in the world.
Shayne was playing on plastic and which isnt ideal but look at the positions he got himself in the lad is a NATURAL goalscorer and in my opinion could be one of the legends of tomorrow.
Just my opinion

As Bill Shankly said about Roger Hunt when he missed a couple of sitters"at least he gets in the right place to miss them"

Shaynes movement (especially to the near post as many have noticed) is excellent. I said on a separate thread that we could get offers for him in January if he carries on playing as well as he's started the season. No reason to think he won't either.

He reminds me a bit of Brett when he first arrived to us. He kept blazing them over, until he settled down or was coached. At least Lavery is scoring & with a little more composure/coaching he will be able to add scoring from distance to to his repertoire. It looks like we have unearthed a gem. 👍

From the BBC website...... "Livewire Lavery was at his instinctive best to restore Northern Ireland's two-goal margin with his first senior international goal on 67 minutes"

It was a massive vote of confidence for Lavery to be handed a start in an important world cup qualifier. I know it's only NI, but they've had some pretty good players over the years so it's a big sign of his quality.

Lavery, Yates, Bowler, Mitchell, Dale, Anderson, Carey and TJJ are our forwards, and I wouldn't really be disappointed seeing any starting for us. Possible exception of Dale purely because I haven't seen him play, but considering the success we've had identifying the others, you can't help but think he'll be a success too. The big problem for Critchley is keeping them all happy. I don't think we'll see us name an unchanged side much this season.

For me he reminds me of an old fashioned centre forward similar to Morty and others in there day 50/60s.
Not sure how many goals he'll get this season, but 10/15 would'nt surprise me.

Interesting Colin Murray was waxing lyrical about him on Quest and so clearly he was on the radar - we were either the bravest or where we are fitted his interests?
