Not sure if this was mentioned after Saturdays game.

I noticed as soon as the players were off the pitch there were three grounds staff on cutting the grass.

Just more visible evidence of how much we’ve progressed professionally since Simon took over.

Never saw that once under the Stains, unless you count pitch forking and stamping the turf down!

Must admit that conjures up an image I'd like to forget. Probably taking our fantastic playing surface for granted a bit.

Wondered about that and why they do it immediately after. Was reading that it cleans up a lot of debris. Some clubs also cut their pitch up to 5 times a day in summer and they can't cut on the day of a game prior to a match, presumably due to having just painted the lines.

I think Stan the milkman was too busy refilling his milk float to worry about about divots on the pitch post match back then, not that the Stains would give a flying f@ck in any case.

It seems to be the thing now...they are usually whirring away in the background while the post match interviews are taking place!

I must say I stopped and marvelled for a moment at the pitch as I came into the ground on Saturday. It was so perfect it didnt look like real grass!

I think post match, Stan was told by brown pants, that he had no budget for lawnmowers and petrol, and that he had to bring his pigs from Garstang to chew the grass. Hence the mess caused by their trotters is evident on Lythams excellent picture 🐖🤣

To me, they didn’t look like mowers. The machines they were using were a lot small than the mowers I see in the week when on volunteer duties.
