Yes the mods deleted it, Seems nobody wants to discuss problems on our streets. Sadly we don’t have anyone who wants to have a big boy discussion, it all too often gets ignored.

Amazing really as I always thought this side of the board was for discussion other than football yet comments often get deleted or threads closed down without explanation.

You think a link to someone advocating compulsory repatriation is acceptable?

Especially when those to be repatriated are born in this country?

Fair enough, but explain how you compulsorily repatriate people to the hospital down the road.

I think it’s terrible - I just believe in free speech.

Therefore I cannot explain how you would do it.

I didn’t see/read it so that’s exactly what I’am on about if a thread gets removed a little explanation would help those that didn’t see/read it otherwise it just looks like a moderator empire waving the big stick.

It’s clear in the tweet from racist Jolene Bunting that appears again in post 1 on this thread.
 
The racists who've commented on this thread need to get a DNA test sometime.

I found I'm a mixture of English ( Yorkshire,
Derbyshire, Cheshire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire) as well as Scottish, French, Scandinavian, Portugese, German, Middle Eastern and a soupcon of Genghis Khan.

If I was "sent back", it would be in lots of little pieces.

And there's an important truth in that. Eventually, those who say 'send them back' don't have a 'where' to send them to. What they really mean is 'get them away from me and mine.' The creed of the insular and insecure.

A very good point One. With freedom of speech comes the responsibility not to insult. It's a difficult tightrope to walk - I'd be more than happy to insult Nazis - but if Sinclair has a right to say what he did then he also has the right to be understood, the right to be criticised and the responsibility to explain himself.

But if the consequences of exercising your right are so severe then it’s ridiculous to argue someone has free speech.

The Saudi government could say “Of course you have free speech to post what you want on social media. But we also have the right to send you to prison for 45 years if we’re not happy with your posts”.

Not really free speech is it?

I don’t think I am arguing the Saudis have it right 👍

Mex - I believe in free speech, if you don’t that’s fine - but we will have to agree to disagree.

…or we could have you imprisoned for your views 😉

The whole point of rights is that they have corresponding duties associated with them. Your right to freedom of speech is only a realisable right if I have a duty to observe it, otherwise that freedom does not exist.

I do believe in free speech. I also believe that people have the right to challenge a person’s views and that isn’t an infringement of the first person’s rights. I also accept that unpopular or unconventional views may have consequences.

What I’m suggesting is that the consequences have to be proportionate otherwise it’s nonsensical to claim there is free speech.

So for instance if someone posts a hateful, insulting or racist post on here then I’m not especially exercised if the post is deleted. No matter how much the poster bleats that his free speech has been infringed.

If someone posts a controversial post and others call for them to be sacked; or make death threats or threats of violence; then I think the “consequences”’are going to be disproportionate to the “offence”.

I’d leave all responses up so we can see what people really think 👍

Moderators are only there to protect the wrong people for me.

Indeed - but to some degree pushing boundaries moves us on, which people forget.

The reality is the moderators on here stop free speech as they delete posts and threads.

Some of those threads are in their own interests to delete as it could cause them issues - which I get - but that’s another argument.

Someone on here had a right go at me and my family not so long ago which they deleted and I asked them no to as it showed the bell end for what they where.

…but it didn’t come back.
