I have always thought of Jerry as more of a ‘Sheringham’ than a‘Shearer’ if you are old enough to get the reference.

yep plenty old enough and can go back way before those two. An interesting comparison. For me both Shearer and Sheringham were great players and had many similar qualities to each other as well as a few different ones. They were two top top players so it's hard to compare to Jerry who is nowhere near their level. Shearer was a bulldozer type of player with a fair amount of skill to do the job asked of him. Sheringham was more about finesse. Jerry yep was probably nearer to Sheringham in style but nearer to Shearer in workrate.I have always thought of Jerry as more of a ‘Sheringham’ than a‘Shearer’ if you are old enough to get the reference.
