Lewis Hamilton

I can't stand him. The words of the o/p just about sum him up. Self entitled.

Just seen a picture of him wearing a chain with a padlock around his neck in protest at slavery.......whilst also sporting a top sponsoring Mercedes and Hugo Boss who have both within a generations history profited from human slaves.

Absolute rank hypocrisy from a odious little xxxx

I think it up to individuals how they express themselves. I am totally sgainst racism, and indeed any discrimination, but I would not do this through the BLM movement, which has much wider connotations which I would not support. 'Bullying' people into supporting the movemnt or 'taking the knee' does not feel right to me. And I don't think rich and privileged sports people and celebrities are the best role models on many issues they campagn on. For example, has Hamilton used some of his vast wealth to create any opportunities for disadvantaged ethnic individuals? I do remember he has campaigned for a more environmentally friendy F1, and yet he travelled around in his private jet.

Brilliantly talented, yet thoroughly unlikeable.

A couple of months ago, one of his race suits was auctioned off for an NHS Charities appeal.
The NHS would benefit a damn sight more if he wasn't a long term tax exile.
Or actually donated his own money rather than getting the public to pay for one of his race suits that cost him nothing.

Slave trade ended two hundred years ago.
Plus, he’s picking and choosing what symbols to use whilst ignoring the hypocrisy.
Maybe stick to earning a fortune for driving a car. 🤨

The cars talented he’s just lucky to drive it!

It was reported that he treated his girlfriend at the time Nicole Sherzinger* appallingly so seems a bit of a misogynist too, treating women like something you'd scrape off your shoe.

*If anyone knows her she can organise a date with me at the 'Stute. Dave the barman will sort a table and make sure they've got scratchings and Scampi Fries in.

Disgustingly wealthy Monaco resident preaching about social justice. He was never vocal about such issues until now which leaves me to believe he's nothing but an attention seeking bandwagon jumper.

And am I right I thinking there’s an Abu Dhabi Grand Prix? Which he’s happy to drive in? A place where there are literally black people in slavery.

I am not a fan but I think people are going in on him very hard on this thread.

I'd go with what MAC says re jumping on the bandwagon but I have no problem with him - Hamilton not MAC - residing in Monaco and if I had any dough, I'd be looking to pay as little tax as possible.

There's this thing called Google, although I realise the answer wasn't what you wanted for your 'point'.

'He is a major contributor to Great Ormond Street hospital, Unicef, The Honeypot Children's Charity and Children of Africa. Many times after a race, instead of leaving the country immediately, he will stay and visit children in poor villages (India) and slums on behalf of UNICEF.

He has unified all of his giving under the Lewis Hamilton Foundation. The goal of the foundation is to provide grants and donations to help with disabilities, Education/training, the advancement of health or saving of lives, prevention or relief of poverty, and general charitable purposes throughout England'

Soz!

Oh and self entitled? He grew up in a ** council flat and has earned everything he has.

Lytham he had a Black Lives Matter T-Shirt on today as he took a knee, why is he ok competing in Abu Dhabi? Where black people are in slavery?

Wow...... let's stick the boot into one of our own multi times World champions!!. Now I can't stand F1, not my thing at all, but it is not an easy sport is it? You have to be as fit as fuck, nerves of steel and any slight mistake could cost you your life. I find it staggering the abuse he has received on here, which is a sad indication of where people's real thoughts on race really are. You should re=-ead this thread and give your heads a wobble, you don't make yourselves sound like very nice people.

Nothing suggesting this on his Wiki page. He was raised in leafy Hertfordshire, was pals with Nico Rosberg aged 5 and had his own racing go-kart at 6. Doesn't sound like the life of abject poverty to me.

Stevenage is in leafy Hertfordshire and it's a leafy shithole. Why castigate his upbringing because his parents put everything they had into their son so he could have the chance to be where he is now. That's a wonderful thing to do, and he took that opportunity and stayed focused. That is something to be proud of. I'm actually disgusted at the "knock 'em down when they're on top" attitude. It's petty jealousy and frankly sad and pathetic.

So cant be criticised because he’s black? Absolutely ridiculous and also a reflection on the continued attack on dialogue within the country.

He doesn’t even pay his taxes

Exactly we’ll said my friend he is a xxxx

The Company he works for allegedly made the ovens that cremated the gassed the Jews after gassing but it’s all about him and his tattoos. I respect those who stood up

I never said anything about his skin colour, but some on here clearly have an issue with it. There are plenty of people who earn staggering amounts of money and try to keep as much of it as possible, legally. It's up to him where he lives, or should he stay in Stevenage because that would make some of you feel better?

This is about an attack on someone because they are successful and you don't like it for some reason. Also a lot of assumptions made. You don't know what money he does or doesn't give away to charities and quite frankly it has nothing to do with you. If you just don't like him because he rubs you up the wrong way then fine, I mean I feel the same way about Lorraine Kelly, I want to kick the TV in when she comes on, there is no logic to it, I don't know her, I just can't watch or listen to her. What she says or does or how she uses her money and success is of no relevance, but some of you are trying to give reasons for your dislike of him and frankly, they are ridiculous.

Some people can't stand Keith lemon, I find him amusing, others love Ricky Gervais, I can stick him, but it's really based on nothing, it's just personal choice, I wouldn't start a thread on anyone so that people can jump in and stick the boot in and cast all sorts of aspersions that aren't true.

I defer to you that you didn’t mention his skin colour however “is a sad indication of where people's real thoughts on race really are” is the first time I can see that anyone really brought race in to it.
I’ve never mentioned once about finances, I’m still awaiting an answer on his rank hypocrisy. Adorning companies that have profited from slavery in recent history and never wearing a black lives matter t shirt and ‘taking the knee’ on the grid in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, again where there are literally black slaves.

Left wing crust? Is that like socialist croutons?

I'm not sure what he is supposed to do. He is doing what he thinks is right. He's hardly alone is he? I personally think the BLM is a dangerous concept as it is divisive, which is exactly what it shouldn't be. All lives matter is a far stronger message. However this thread seems to have been an attack on a top of his game World motor racing champion because people just don't like him. The usual, want Britain to do well but knock anyone who actually does good if they don't like something about them. Andy Murray gets pelters and he is a fantastic champion.

If you dig deep enough you can probably find something on all the racing teams in the past and you can't stop going somewhere if you are contracted to do it. It is surely better to go to somewhere like Abu Dhabi and win and stick 2 fingers up than not turn up.

This has been a character assassination in the best AVFTT tradition!

But what he’s doing is steeped in hypocrisy is my point. Maybe don’t do anything and concentrate on what you do best?

Iv never once mentioned anything to do with his racing, his money or his personal life as I’m really not bothered what he does in a car or his tax affairs. But I think he needs to be called out on his virtue signalling hypocrisy.

your point about the Abu Dhabi thing is accurate, but he has never done anything remotely close to that?

To be honest with you, my finger pointing wasn't aimed at you, but it's an interesting debate. I see your point but hypocrisy is a difficult thing to judge and we are all guilty of it at times without even knowing it.

It's not abuse. Your post is over emotive faux outrage at a bit of criticism at his hypocrisy. Nothing more.

Yes I imagine we all practice hypocrisy at times.
It all just reeks of virtue signalling hypocrisy at the moment especially from celebrities and I’m not getting at you per se it’s more the fact conversation around BLM is shut down as you’re either with us or against us or you’re a racist. But to be fair you’ve commented on and I agree with the banner of BLM being not all together with out issue.
