Lincoln next Saturday

I think we'd beat them if they had a full squad out returning from a couple weeks off with COVID. If they have players out and are having to field a weakened side we should be putting them to the sword.

If they have their kids out anything less than an absolute drubbing would be poor.

I don’t get the worry beads keep getting jangled about whether other teams are at full strength, Covid affected, kids playing or key players out, we’ve just proven today yet again that we can beat the best!

I’m sure that a few on here were there on Grand National Saturday in 1991 (Seagram 12-1) when we beat Lincoln 1-0 (with a Dave Bamber goal on 5 minutes if memory serves)

Mind you, DavePick was there in 1896 for our first league match and that ended less well.

Imps chairman says will go ahead come what may
Chizzy confirmed that Nick Horne had said the game will definitely go ahead - It's an interesting one because Lincoln are on the same games played and only a point behind, however it just feels the club are on very different trajectories at the moment, they are in awful form and I think the realisation that the early season form has now gone and probably their chance in the Play Offs.

Had it in the work sweep too.

Clearly watched too many Carry On films as a lad.
The finest films in British cinematic history. Sad to report I nodded off during the classic Carry on Cowboy last night though and missed the Rumpo Kid getting his comeuppance. Sacrilege, must be another age thing 😳

According to Lincolnshire Live, the training ground has reopened today and Saturday's game at Sincil Bank is set to go ahead.
Lincoln's players and staff will also be tested today.
According to reports, it is hoped Michael Appleton's side will resume training "later this week" ahead of the weekend's game.

So they're only just opening their training ground today, doesn't bode well for them that. Haven't played a game since the 26th March and will be starting training a handful of days before the Saturday - doesn't look good for 'em!

Lincoln on a poor run prior to their COVID problems, near the bottom of the form tables. Pool playing well against teams at the top and bottom of the tables and cannot see them getting complacent now. Every game now feels big. I feel confident that however Lincoln play, whatever shape they are in after their temporary shutdown pool will impose their own style and find a way. Another team where it feels like we owe them after the first match giving away two penalties, the second of which Husband got red carded. We need to play on Saturday so good news.

At this stage of the season the players who have played regularly will be as fit as they're ever going to be. If anything yesterday's result will focus their minds and as we have seen when our squad has been depleted in can sometimes work in your favour.

The main detriment though is the fact their training ground has been shut due to COVID. Normally they'd have spent all this week preparing as a team to play us based on our threats and its looking like they're not gonna be in training until a couple of days before the fixture if Appleton's comment of "later this week" is to be believed.

I imagine you're right, it won't hinder their match fitness too greatly considering we're so far along with the season but I can't see a way of any of this helping them. If it was Blackpool in their boat I'd be extremely worried.

Lincoln have had the same scale of injury problems as we have. They have four long term first choice players missing, plus the usual few that have something wrong at any one time. They do not have as big a squad as Pool, so have not been able to cope as well as we have. This has really hurt them over the last couple of months, where at one point they were four points clear at the top, and with games in hand. Their back-up hasn’t been good enough. Nevertheless, they are still in a play off place, and will fight tooth and nail to stay there. Pool will have to battle for the win.

We haven't won at Sincil Bank since 1991. It won't be easy to win.
I read stats like that and always think that, except for recent times, there’s not one person from our team, playing or managing, who was around during that winless run; we’re always a different proposition to last time. Therefore it’s irrelevant and if this season’s showing us anything, records are there to be broken 👍

I was there last year for a stultifying 1-0 defeat. An awful game, bereft of quality and settled by a rebound from a clearance to a Lincoln player who rolled it in. Nobody on the pitch was capable of creating even a half chance. Madine came on late in the game, and seriously change the dynamic, giving Nuttall the opportunity to scuff a shot goalwards, only for it to be cleared off the line. A long way to go to watch a monotonous midfield scuffle. This Saturday has to be better. It’s impossible to even be as bad.

The longer since we last won there, the sooner it will end.

Conversely, bad runs don't last for ever from their pov.

Draw then😄

Apart from Portman Rd. We've never won there in our history.

Any idea who’s out injured for Lincoln? Hear they were missing a few players before covid hit their camp

Really enjoyed last years trip to Lincoln. The match was terrible but the City and the bars were a great night out.
i stayed over in Lincoln last year, a great break, many years ago on a previous forum (seasiders.net i think) i was Lincoln Pool.
having lived there for a few years, i really loved the place.

Do I detect the first whiff of complacency in the air ? They will put 11 professionals onto the pitch to start, and will have a full bench.
It starts at 0-0, and if we go behind, it will then be a battle.
Yes absolutely right - it’s another fixture - don’t disrespect the opposition even if they and you have to play in masks - his is a banana skin fixture given their ordinary home form if there ever was one and we are only 7th in the away points table (half of ours coming in the last few fixtures !

I wish everyone success - no injuries, certainly no daft cards and most of all no illness

Let’s face it, it’s a nice part of the U.K. and would normally make a great away match.
I’m hoping we can extend our amazing away form and you can guarantee NC won’t underestimate them.
