The Equalities Minister has announced the latest policies will fix the system not the outcomes. A new focus will be on freedom, choice and opportunity rather than allowing “self selecting activists to control the equality debate”. The government are moving the Equality office to the North and they will look at an individuals character not their group characteristics. She said the government will listen to data, not those who shout the loudest.

Interesting times, yesterday the civil service scrapped unconscious bias training after the 1000th study concluded it has zero impact and in some cases reinforced stereotypes.
 
You know you can always rely on Truss to have her finger on the pulse.

Her European cheese rant, was a wonder to behold!

The woman is totally incompetent!
 
If you're talking incoherent nonsense then, phew! Lis Truss is certainly a contender, as is Hancock, Johnson, the prat at Education, the corrupt one at Housing....most of them, apart from Gove and Sunak. Gove is very clever but a self-serving, devious bastard. Sunak is too rich to care.
 
Not a fan of the tories or Liz Truss but at least some common sense. This unconcious bias training and all of this woke business is nonsense. It achieves nothing except causing friction and division in society. It is dangerous nonsense, there are some nasty barmy lefties for sure.

Have you actually been on one of these courses?

I haven’t and I’m not saying you’re wrong. But I’m also not convinced you’re openminded and receptive to the message that might be delivered.

By definition, if it’s unconscious bias then you aren’t aware of it.
 
Unconscious bias training was shite, Truss not great politician but she is actually making a good point

There are self selecting activists controlling the debate - Owen Jones being prime example
I know there are bigots but the whining Jones type do not help and imo play right into the hands of the ugly right

I instruct a range of non technical, behavioural, leadership courses, I wrote an unconscious bias course as well. The content is sound, and there’s no doubt a range of biases exist. The problem is there are few, if any, people on the planet who possess the skills required to actually do anything about it, without making everything worse. The measurements for UB testing are garbage as well.
 
Nearly 170,000 staff across the civil service have taken part in sessions in the past five years, at an estimated cost of £3,700,000. What a waste of money. Fortunately, people are seeing through this woke bollox and realising that not only is there no scientific basis to it but it compounds the problems it seeks to put right.

Oops. I seem to have missed some zeros off that figure. Otherwise it's 20 quid per trainee.
 
No i have not be on one of these courses but have heard a lot about them, all of it like the above comments. Not by a long way is everybody biased and to assume they are is nonsense. Also, knowing about bias does not automatically result in changes in behaviour, this has been known for a long time. This is dangerous marxist mumbojumbo. If it smells like shit it must be shit.

I’m chilled, I thought all the woke courses had been cancelled, I don’t even know what a QAnon website is and I prefer a good book to expand my mind. Cheers 👍🏻

Haven’t read Despised but just finishing Selfish Whining Monkeys by Rod Liddle which sounds as if it covers similar territory.

Read a biography of Guy Burgess a while back but not that one.

Just finished In Extremis about Marie Colvin - brave lady but you wouldn’t want to be married to her.

Just started re-reading Ed Moloney’s Secret History of the IRA to see if I can work out who the super grass was. It’s not hard 😆
