Just back from an eight mile walk down the river Lune from the Stork at Condor Green and back along the Lancaster Canal to Glasson Dock. Canal part of the walk was very quiet. Only passed about a dozen people in about the five mile stretch but then the riverside walk was a lot busier especially with cyclists.

I've just been on a call with someone who has described a scenario remarkably similar to yours with her neighbours. You're not in Manchester are you??

I've seen quite a bit more relaxation, starting with the VE Day celebrations, and I think it's inevitable we will see infections increasing over the next couple of weeks, probably followed by a strengthening of the lockdown rules.

I reckon you might have passed me! I was walking up the top stretch in Lancaster today (I live near it) - it's been busy throughout lockdown tbh.

Not sure. We parked up by the Canal bend at Aldcliffe and headed south. Sat down for a sandwich and forgot to pick up the dogs lead. My fault of course or so the missus said. Didn't realise til about two miles later. Missus had to use her belt as a lead for the couple of road stretches and to get past a couple of nesting swans.

It was the cycle track (Riverside walk) I was on. Canal has been quiet apart from the immediate town part. The cycle track has resembled the prom in summer! Not so bad further down, but the immediate stretch from town to marsh point and where the road goes up to aldcliffe has been mental.

Tbh, its been a great place to have on my doorstep and I've appreciated it like never before.

Bet you were popular after that!

Nice walk that. Love the old Railway Station (Lancaster Uni Rowing clubhouse).

What do you mean “where are the plod” - the lack of clarity by the Government about what the rules are - none - and to use good old British Common Sense means the Police are pretty much powerless to enforce anything.

Any intervention will just result in a load of leery people arguing the toss about each one of them visiting someone different but all just happen to be at the same address at the same time etc.

The Police have already said that without explicit instructions then their hands are tied over Social Distancing.

I guess all you can do is - if you are a reasonable person - is to protect yourself and your own by following your own guidelines as best you can - like they say, you can be the best driver in the world but its the driver of the other car that will get you!
