M6 closed

FFS. Google maps saying an extra 28 mins at the moment but it is isnt recognising a closure / being diverted off.

Edit, it is now, route is 61 then 62 west.

8.23 AM tweet by National Highways North West reports delays of over 1 hour on the M6 southbound between J26 and J24.
This is due to the ongoing closure between J24 and J23 to recover a lorry which overturned this morning.
Diversion from J24 via A58 / A580, but the diversion route is "heavily congested" 😱

Hopefully changing to the M61 at the start will be clear. Not leaving til 10.
 
Avoid coming off near Ashton in Makerfield at all costs. Looks gridlocked.

Another option could be M58 west across to thr Rainford Bypass, down through St Helens and back on to the M62 east to the M6. Mostly dual carriageways through St Helens and motorway the rest.
 
Back on m6 now. Diversion put about 30 mins on. Traffic on m6 not too bad . Eta West Brom 11.30
