MA departure.

if MA gets the sack who do we go for?
Are there any good managers out of a job?
Can we tempt one from another club?
At the moment we are in turmoil and only a very good manager will get us out of it.
Who is available?

I don’t think it’s for us to second guess who we may go for.

I actually don’t think it’s as important as some people think for us to get a ‘proven manager’..

IMO all we need is new ideas, the horrendous cloud that is Crappleton removing from the club and it’ll be a breath of fresh air.

Carrick is the prime example (albeit with a better squad) - Wilder was one of the most sought after managers at this level once he left Sheffield United and couldn’t get Boro going, a young hungry coach in Carrick has got them firing.

Whoever - it's all about the quality of the squad and our squad isn't and hasn't been good enough this season.

For those that disagree!

Take a look at the League table

I don’t think we’ll be able to get a current manager in what with the cost of agreeing a severance package with the club and paying Appleton his 4 year contract off it’ll just be too costly.

So it’s going to have to be someone currently out of work or someone looking to move into management and is that what we want when we’re staring relegation in the face?

?? No idea. I can’t think of any that would guarantee survival and that we would like
Here's an idea that might assist our survival. Stop playing Carey and Patino as the midfield base. Game after game they get bypassed. Tackling is not their game so if they do get the ball, and lose it, which happens far too often, we're goosed. We'd be harder to beat, and get more attacking chances, if we played Dougal and Trybull there. Then we could have a creative three of, say, Bowler, Poveda and CJ/Morgan, with Jerry up top. Plus, with that defensive base we could afford Lyons at RB for more attacking options, and have plenty of choices off the bench to freshen things up.

Thing is everyone is going for these new up and coming managers, and half of them are getting found out, thinking the older managers have outdated ideas, Tony Mowbray is doing well at Sunderland

The vast majority would probably do a better job

I think we all agree, problem is MA doesn’t.

This exactly. However, I see Appleton as too stubborn to change.

Posted this in another thread. Some names to at least think about...

Valerian Ismael
Mick McCarthy
Chris Wilder
Mark Warburton

Some experienced Championship managers that we might be able to get in. Whether they are the most exciting is debatable but they would probably give us a much better chance of staying in the division.

Or you could look longer term and get someone young in like Kieran McKenna who has started his management career well at Ipswich or some other coach that is currently with a Premier League team.

You would hope that the club has been working this all out during our ten game winless run.

Isn’t Thommo doing a job at Oldham now?
Thommo is head of recruitment at Oldham & also doing some work for Radio Lancs.
I think he'd return to us in a coaching role (his strength is coaching & player management) in a heartbeat.
The big question is - who would want to manage us? Rather than - who do we want?
Evvo is doing fantastically well at Bolton & I'd be shocked if he left there anytime soon.

Schumacher at Plymouth. Doing an amazing job there, clearly was a big cog in the wheel when Lowe was there as he’s took the mantle and improved them. Ordinarily given there’s a real chance we’ll be swapping leagues next season it’d be a none starter, but he’s a scouser and may be looking to move closer home.

It’d likely be a coach at another team (rather than manager) or someone unemployed. Duncan Ferguson? just to finally complete his rumoured move here that went on for about ten years (was to do with pigeon racing, if I remember)

We could, would and should have took something from the game yesterday if we had picked the right team and tactics.
You could say that about any game. Every stat over the 90mins shows that Watford deserved the 3 points. Would starting with Lyons, Dougall and Yates have changed that, is impossible to say.

Exactly my thoughts. Been saying for weeks we need a solid base in midfield to build on.

We can all see this is our weakness, why cant our inept management???

I think it would be a great appointment that... he would certainly get the best out of the players...
