Man City - cheats or not?

Hmm how can City claim to have done nothing wrong yet still receive a fine. You either cheated or did nothing wrong.

This is coming across as giving Uefa a back hander to keep quiet.

The simple answer is that you don't piss off the people who pay the Piper. The rules don't matter in commerce, just the power of the wallet.

It's funny how City were picked on when Real Madrid and Barcelona have been doing it for years! There again they are an English club, or is that just me being paranoid?

No they didn't cheat.

FFP serves only the cartel of Madrid, Barca, Juventus and worst culprits of all...Bayern Munich.. The biggest twats in European football.
No surprise too that FFP itself was the brainchild of Platini, who himself is bent as a nine bob note.

As Larryknows mentioned, Gary Neville raises some interesting points about FFP.

It has the potential to monopolise football, you would never again see clubs outside of the already established elite be able to challenge in their respective leagues. That's why the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich would be happy to see it enforced as it basically keeps the status quo at the top.

(That's not to say there isn't a monetary issue within football with overspending and billionaire owners, but perhaps FFP is a flawed model)

They've probably been a bit shady with their finances. Cheats? Who knows but this hasn't done their reputation much good. And neither has it done UEFA's reputation much good either. As Gary Neville rightly says, they're a hopeless organisation.
Some of the charges they threw at City were actually over the time limit stated by their own rules. You couldn't make it up.
And as a few have said, the likes of PSG, Madrid and Barcelona have been at this for years. So why just pick on City? Probably
because they're English.
Anyway, it's given them the green light to go out and buy the Prem title back next season. I'm sure Pep will now go on a huge spending spree as losing the title will have hurt them.

Why are Bayern the biggest twats in European football?

@TangerinePeel Leicester did challenge and won. Besides I'm not going to take lectures form the plug after what he's spent on Salford.

Now, to say City did nothing is bollocks. They HAVE been fined.

Everyone knows they've bought their way to success and made a mockery of FFP.
They had £389 injected couple of seasons back out of nowhere. Dodgy stadium naming rights. Vast expenditure on players...

There is a news story today about Pep given the all clear to spend big this Summer. Let's face it they now have free reign to do so.

Cities owners aren't a pleasant bunch. Unfortunately it gives the green light for other unsavoury regimes to "sports wash" their misdemeanours. Saudi Arabian Royal family were sniffing around Newcastle. How about Assad buying Arsenal, China might as buy spurs. Putin can chip in for Villa.
Pity Mugabe isn't around perhaps he could have chipped in for Bolton or Wigan.

Yeah he mentions at the beginning of the first video that they wouldn't be able to do what they're doing at Salford if FFP was in place so his opinion will definitely be biased. I think the point he's trying to make is that the big clubs would be happy to have something in place that would stop a smaller club spending lots of money and being able to challenge them and FFP in the form it is now could prevent that.

It is true as you said, if they've breached the rules then surely the ban should be in place? If they have been cleared then why do they get fined? Doesn't make sense and Neville points that out that he knew City would beat UEFA as they're useless (seems to be a recurring theme with footballing bodies)

I'm a bit past caring now. Football lost the competition factor at the top level years ago. So much now is pre-determined off the pitch even before the season starts and a ball is kicked that it doesn't really matter anymore. Sick of foregone conclusions which is why I no longer follow anything Premier League or Champions League related.

Spoke to many a City fan and everyone has been telling me for months they would piss it and the case would be dropped.
Everyone is at it throwing money at clubs and trying to get around the rules just drop FFP and if an owner want's to waste trillions then so be it as long he doesn't but it down as a debt owed from the club just a gift.

I think this is exactly what Gary Neville was alluding to. If the owner wants to spend all his money to make his team win the League much as Jack Walker did years ago then why cant he and we should let them. The rules should be around any debt or money owing by the contracts being on the owner and not shovelled onto the football club

Football needs a huge overhaul. There is now a huge divide with the bigger clubs buying trophies on a whim. Meanwhile smaller clubs are going to the wall without as much of a blink. There needs to be salary caps put in place across all leagues, transfer fees need to be capped with teams only allowed to spend up to a set maximum depending on the league they are in. All transfer fees should be decided by an independent tribunal taking the ridiculous pricing out of the control of clubs.
Clubs should only be allowed to have a squad of 30 players to cover all the competitions through a season with 10 of those players being aged 21 or under. Half the squad should also be players of the nationality that the club is playing in.
If we are not careful all the teams plying their trade below the Championship will go to the wall and with Amazon getting involved with the Premiership next season and Netflix at the next round of TV negotiations it is going to get worse. Football has been ruined by money with the game now becoming increasingly boring and fans turning away.

The fine was for 'not cooperating' in the Investigation, which City thought was unethical as it was based on stolen/hacked information that could not be corroberated

Who do you think arranged for a hacker to access City's emails and pass them to Der Spiegel???They are at the heart of the closed shop brigade
Is there any proof of that? I don't really have an opinion on Bayern by the way. I don't love them, don't hate them. So I'm not defending them. Just interested in what has allegedly gone on.
