Manager for League One

Been trying to stay positive but unfortunately it's not looking good. The club need to plan for us being in League One and the Championship.

Who would you want to be our manager next year if we are in League One? Ideally someone who plays decent football and will give us a chance of promotion.

Liam Manning was one suggestion. Any others?

Has to be someone with experience!! Not some random coach from a Premier club, surely not worth a risk.

We make the wrong appointment this time we could be playing League 2 football the following season

I doubt Wellens would come he’s already looking good for life in league one with Orient and they’ll pay heaven and earth to keep hold of him.

I don't want an old or an ex manager. We need to find someone who has a good philosophy and wears his heart on his sleeve. We had a real chance when a Championship club to do just that, our options will be so much smaller in L1. All I do know is I don't want Mansford or Sadler anywhere near the decision. Get rid of Mansford and let football people make the decision.

Sadler will be paying the wage so he must have some input

The fella from Southampton, can’t think of his name, no one likes him but who give a f$_k we need to jump straight back up

I know but they are ‘Head Coaches’ now. Not splitting hairs, I just think that could be a good pairing with the ex-cov scouts and a good director of football
Donnolly is the Academy Director and has swapped his trackie for a suit and his boots for a pair of loafers 😃.

I’d be happy with Manning but Leam Richardson is a good shout.

My worry is we won’t be an attractive opposition in league one on the back of this truly shocking season so we will be scrapping the barrel again.

I wouldn’t be against Nathan Jones either, he’s a bit of a pillock but you can’t argue what he did at Luton.

Let’s go completely left field like we did with Critch.
Look at academy managers with a crap or no playing career. There’s so many examples of that left field approach working, probably more so than old experienced managers working.

Get them early before they learn bad habits - Warburton, Cowley bros, Critch, Rodgers, Mourinho, Wenger, Ted Lasso.

Genuinely a lot of academic minded managers with little or no playing experience do really well in their first or second appointments. It seems to be when they become experienced that the wheels start to fall off.

What’s Richie Kyle doing now?

This won’t be popular but Karl Robinson has taken Oxford as far has he can and either way , there is soon to be a parting of ways. He has attitude, experience and I personally would love an opinionated manager rather than the grey dross of late.

Player recruitments more important than who is at the helm, we need to get that right first.
Manning is a great example of how getting that wrong can lead to shite results. Replacing quality with hopeful punts led to him getting potted by MK.

Yeah & Mick but more times then not an experienced manager will do a far better job then a total rookie, especially when its vital more then ever for a right appointment
When Critchley joined us he was a management rookie and he did ok. He’s now an experienced manager and keeps getting pedalled?

Richie Kyle has been Rob Edwards' assistant at Forest Green, Watford and again now at Luton.

Joe Smith

Think Liam Manning and Leam Richardson are two interesting shouts. They have rather different footballing philosophies. Manning is very possession heavy and playing out from the back. Richardson is a bit more old school, relying less on tactics and more on effort, physicality and strength from set pieces.
