The Manx Missile living up to his moniker.Great sprint finish win from Cavendish to take Stage 4. After the recent injury plagued years this was a superb performance. He was very emotional in the post race interview. Well done lad.
That really was rolling back the years. Great work.Fantastic Cav!
You could see how much it meant to him. A magic moment.I had a bit of grit in my eye watching it. Just an incredible story and turnaround. His determination to prove the doubters wrong is utterly admirable. So pleased for him.
Lefevre magic. Its not so much the doubters as to be honest until this season he has really struggled, so they had good reason to doubt or not to pay him good money to ride for them. Its more just that inner understanding that given the chance, and the leadout man, you can still do it. I think that is what makes great champions and great moments in sport.
ITV4What channel is the Tour on, can’t seem to find it?

Eddy was an all-rounder, he's won sprints, mountain top finishes and time-trial. Mark has already beaten Eddy as far as sprints go, but even if the total record is broken Eddy is still the greatest rider even though not the greatest sprinter. It would be a travesty if he beat Merckx stage win record. Merckx has won 5 tours. Not sure how many times Cavendish has even ridden down the Champs Elysees on the last stage.
I've met more arseho;le car drivers than cyclists. My guess is those arseholes you refer to are the same arseholes that drive cars.Cyclists' are arseholes who think they own the roads. in spite of having no requirement to have them maintained . Yet they can have a nice dedicated space marked out for them everywhere ( at no expense to themselves) this is still not enough. They want all motorists off the road so that they can ride 4 abreast allowing them to discuss the latest Lycra. If they're not chatting about cyclofashion they have their heads down trying to beat their previous best time for the route ( especially if alone) the only memory of which being the nice colourful bike frame and the road beneath. WHY DON'T THEY LOOK AT THE SCENERY ?
The Tour de France is completely different. Dedicated sportsmen who go through hell to complete a stage or race. I thought Mark Cavendish was finished but he has proven what is possible with dedication and a love for what you are doing. The sweetest revenge is when you are written off but come back to stick one up your critics.
Well done Mark.
100% spot on.Eddy was an all-rounder, he's won sprints, mountain top finishes and time-trial. Mark has already beaten Eddy as far as sprints go, but even if the total record is broken Eddy is still the greatest rider even though not the greatest sprinter.

As long as they’re all at it I don’t mind!Having read Tyler Hamiltons book about his time on the tour as part of Lance Armstrongs team (highly recommended) I'm highly sceptical of riders who come to form. They are all at it.
I don't disagree, it's a race that is brutal. The book was a massive eye openerAs long as they’re all at it I don’t mind!
Great stuff Cav, he’s a legend!
Yes I read the book a few years ago very enlighteningI don't disagree, it's a race that is brutal. The book was a massive eye opener
Bollocks. They were all at it at that time Not now. Ignorant to tar the current peloton with the same brush.Having read Tyler Hamiltons book about his time on the tour as part of Lance Armstrongs team (highly recommended) I'm highly sceptical of riders who come to form. They are all at it.
You honestly think they are clean? I remember having this debate with an ardent cycling fan back in the Lance Armstrong days, he was so passionate how the sport was clean FFS....Bollocks. They were all at it at that time Not now. Ignorant to tar the current peloton with the same brush.
Hamilton does tell a great story of that time though I agree. The video below at the Oxford Union is fabulous
Yes I do. FFS it's the same old nonsense every year about cycling on AVFTT.You honestly think they are clean? I remember having this debate with an ardent cycling fan back in the Lance Armstrong days, he was so passionate how the sport was clean FFS....
Cycling has always been and will always be a sport that uses performance enhancing drugs. I think most top level sport will suffer from this, football, boxing athletics, tennis. There are hundreds of millions at stake.
I take it you're a cyclist then ?Bellend post of the year
And you believe Dr Freeman is innocent? And Sutton had erectile problems?Yes I do. FFS it's the same old nonsense every year about cycling on AVFTT.
For one time only cycling is now the most tested sport in the all professional sport. YES for good reason due to the sins of the many in the 90's and early 00's it has been slaughtered (the fact it went on decades prior is rarely mentioned).
Yes I do believe that cyclists in the pro peloton are the cleanest in all sport. No other sport is as accountable yet no other sport is subject to such ignorant prejudice due to lack of knowledge.
That's what they said about Cav in his earlier days............no top-end sprinters. If you're the best of the current crop then that's it, tough luck. Not a fan, and them tears how very Italian. There arnt any other top end sprinters in the race sinse the other guy crashed out earlier in the week.
How often do you ride any distance in casual gear? I used to and then changed to lycra when I started to increase cycling time, and the difference in comfort is one hell of an improvement, so laugh on.The full Lycra does make me laugh as I drive past. It’s a bit like blokes of 30 -40 years old having a kick about on the park wearing full kit shin pads and boots. FKW
And yet many are quite ready to accept the cheating we see in every game every week as "part of the game". Cheating is cheating, full stop.Yes I do. FFS it's the same old nonsense every year about cycling on AVFTT.

They named a golf course after him in Buxton. So good they named a road after him in Bispham.
And he can't help it if the other sprinters can't stay on their bikes...its just a basic requirement in a bike race.He 's done it again today the Manx Missile !
