What is the point of playing Lingard when he isn't in the squad? Surely these friendlies are a great time for the players selected for the major tournament to gel
I don't get it either unless he's putting him on standby if someone gets injured.
I used to love the home internationals but I'm not sure they helped us achieve anything of note in major tournaments. Apart from one win we haven't done too well aside from is it two semi finals?
When he's picked 4 players who are injured, some of whom haven't played for months, it's bizarre to then pick Lingard. If you knowingly pick someone who is injured you can't replace them, unlike anyone who gets injured in a warm up game.

He does but they are Junior/Small Adult sized he says the large ones restrict his play.

It only really gets interesting when in the group & knockout stages & this friendly does seem a little pointless, well to me anyway.
Grealish seems to dally on the ball a bit too much & whilst he does keep the ball well he invites defenders to come back at him again.

Pickford's an accident waiting to happen I'm afraid. For himself or someone around him. Grealish and Bellingham should start but we'll probably get Sterling and Henderson - and Harry Kane turning up half the time as the midfield sitter. Like the pundits said at half time, someone needs to tell him to get upfield, lined up between the sticks.

Agreed - is it Italy that are only taking 24? Their manager says it’s not worth taking 26 as there’ll be no chance of them all getting a game anyway.
Normally you do but clearly Southgate considered it more important to give the United,City and Chelsea players a bit of a rest after their extended season. I don't think that was a bad call and hopefully they will all be ready to go for the next friendly.
