Maxwell

generally I've defended him this season but he had a poor game today. Will Grimshaw get a chance on friday? Well he should but he won't.

The blokes stolen a living all his career. He is not big enough or athletic enough to be a modern day keeper. They are supposed to command the box and put the defence at ease. He does neither of these.I am sure he only wears gloves to keep his hands warm because he sure cant cant catch with them. Grimshaw must be thinking what the hell he has done to sit on the bench and watch Maxwells weekly shit show.

Simply put we are not playing our best players and haven't been for weeks. Grimshaw is one of them.
If we don't play our best, then what's the point. It's totally fcuking mind boggling. I include Appleton in this too - who the hell doesn't play the joint leading goalscorer in the league (at the time - away to Watford).
On the list of requirements for new manager should be 'plays our best players'. It shouldn't need to be, as it should be a given but it seems we somehow manage to seek out the few managers who like to keep our most talented on the bench, or worse not even in the squad.

He is also very quick to bollock his defenders hen he concedes
On that note, if we put defenders on the posts they wouldn’t have conceded from the free kick, although Maxwell did line the wall up.

,
I don't know why the defenders don't shout back at him...

"how about you save some bloody shots"

He's absolutely shite
He was at fault for 2 goals today I beginning to wonder what hold has he on our club .Grimmy is patently a better keeper but? In fact did he even warm up today? . I was too busy admiring Maxwells fluorescent garb and immaculate hair do.

He's hypnotised Banks maybe?

He’s slow and doesn’t have a good spring. Any free kick or shot towards the extremities of the goal has a high likelihood of going in the goal. I cannot understand how such an experienced manager keeps picking him.
Spot on. He’s got no spring whatsoever, plus various other poor attributes.

Pick the younger guy, keep Grimshaw and build for a few years. Maxwell is 33 in a few months.

I'm concerned there's a danger that Grimmy will want away due to not getting picked. He simply shouldn't be our nr 2 keeper. Maxwell has had a few poor performances recently, but to get beaten at the near post like that was particularly disappointing. I don't know what he has to do to lose his place?

I work in Preston, and the PNE fan in the office (yes there's only 1) couldn't believe he's our number 1 keeper.

But I think @20togo is right, MM will probably stick with him, just as he won't give a start to the players who'll give us the best chance of survival.

Despite another awful performance today, does anyone really think MM will replace him for next game? I just can't see it, which begs the question, why? I don't get it. Grimshaw isn't perfect, but he is decent and can't be worse than Maxwell

Well there was a post earlier today that said Grimmy wasn’t playing because we won’t pay his appearance money. And the same point was made later about three other players. Anyone confirm this?

A couple of seasons ago Maxy was really good, but gradually became error prone. Grimmy then took the position and it was blindingly obvious this lad is the better keeper. One of the most important attributes of a Keeper is 'positioning' and Maxy repeatedly is dire in this regard. He has good reflex save ability, but stays too much on his line, probably due to his height disadvantage.

Grimmy should without a doubt start the next game, but MM seems reluctant to play his stronger players.

MM and TC have brought nothing to the existing squad and should go immediately.

Maxwell isn't good enough. I've been saying it all season but he makes one or two saves (shock, a goalkeeper making a save) and people come to his defence. He is never a Championship goalkeeper. I don't want him in L1 either because he is just not tall enough. His kicking is also garbage.

I think Maxwell has had some unwarranted stick on here, for poor defending leading to conceding too many goals. Now today he didn't cover himself in glory, it's time to give Grimshaw the gloves FFS we've tried everything else.

He's too small!Pathetic on corners! When he collects the ball he rushes to the edge of his area and then waits for the opposition defence to regroup! His kicking is atrocious, 9 times out of 10 he kicks it straight into touch! He adopts the Jordan Pickford attitude of blaming everyone but himself!

Spot on.

Maxwell has been a decent signing for Blackpool and he's pulled us out of the shit plenty of times this season and last. Saturday really 'wasn't the game for him' to be perfectly honest, but he doesn't deserve to have the piss taken out of him by Blackpool Fans!!

Personally I'm not convinced about Grimshaw (never have been) although if L1 is where we are heading, then he's likely to be good enough for the time being. On that basis I's probably give him a shot in the remaining games..

I hear the criticism about Grimmy being too small and maybe there's an element of truth in that. However, he's a far better keeper all round than CM and with proper coaching as well as game time, the height thing might just be something to be tolerated as the rest of his game is very good.

We talk about the model of buying good, cheap and then selling it on, well how does that work with Grimmy not playing. Surely if you even accept there's little between them (I never have) then you play the one who is going to be the better asset in the future.

Listen to me, harping on about models. That toy boat sank a long time ago.
