To be fair I think there is a dispute ongoing. The government claim a lot of the PPE wasn’t up to scratch and they want our (emphasis on OUR) money back. The supplier is disputing it.I think it is pivot point for the Government. If they ignore it, every single candidate against them in the next GE will be able to legitiamately claim the Tories were corrupt (again, remember John Major's government). If they do take action, it will open the floodgates to further investigations, eg what did Dido do with £37 Billion?
It makes me sick. Contracts of around £200 million of which at least 65 million went to just one person, naturally with connections to the Tory party, in profits. For PPE that was useless. Money that should have been for the NHS. Taxpayers money that they’re always reminding us they can’t afford to spend on for example rail projects (in the north only of course)Anyone following this story?

While longstanding reputable suppliers were frozen out in favour of companies literally set up a few days beforehand with no stock, no history of manufacture and no idea, yet known to Government ministers. Cronyism at its absolute worst, at our cost.It makes me sick. Whilst contracts like this were being handed out to ministers mates, a friend of my son was spending all his time making shields to donate, for free, to care homes and hospitals who couldn’t get hold of any PPE to keep them safe. He had to set up a go fund me page for donations to keep going and he wasn’t alone. Countless individuals and companies did the same while we all donated. Oh how they must have been laughing their their greedy little heads of at us.
And why the need to filter the money through countless channels before it reaches the offshore account if it’s all above boardTo be fair I think there is a dispute ongoing. And the National Crime Agency are investigating.
But what gets me is Mone’s very vocal claims which are subsequently disproved
“Nowt to do with me”. But then shown she approached Gove about the company being put in the VIP lane and fast tracked to a £203m contract.
“Yeah ok. But I wasn’t actually involved in the business”. Then shown she sent messages to various people discussing the price point for various products.
“Yeah ok. But I haven’t been paid”. Now shown that there’s an offshore trust that she’s involved in that’s received £29m from her hubby. Who received £65m from the company she had no connection with.
Well that all sounds above board.
Being transparent has tax implications, ie they might have to pay some. And why the need to filter the money through countless channels before it reaches the offshore account if it’s all above board
It sounds like what it is, a bloody disgrace. To be fair I think there is a dispute ongoing. The government claim a lot of the PPE wasn’t up to scratch and they want our (emphasis on OUR) money back. The supplier is disputing it.

Plus covid loansGovernment should also chase the Furlough Fraudsters who took billions out of the system!
There also seem to be quite a few businesses that took furlough grants quite legitimately which seem to have made very handsome profits during the pandemic.Government should also chase the Furlough Fraudsters who took billions out of the system!
I heard a figure of over £7billion that the Government appear to have given up on that is tax payers money! I find it staggering the amount of money that is wasted by government offices and begs the question what the National Audit Office actually do apart from issuing a report and make recommendations that clearly are not implemented! There also seem to be quite a few businesses that took furlough grants quite legitimately which seem to have made very handsome profits during the pandemic.
At the time I thought furlough was a good idea and saved a lot of jobs that would otherwise have been lost. I imagine it did. But what I didn’t expect was that it’d earn very good profits for some business owners as that certainly wasn’t the intention. There’s certainly an argument to make for a windfall tax on certain businesses.
I still think the concept was good, but people who milked it or defrauded it should be brought to book. There also seem to be quite a few businesses that took furlough grants quite legitimately which seem to have made very handsome profits during the pandemic.

Written off billions. Nothing at all to do with over a decade of 'efficiencies' that leave the relevant departments too short of staff to be able to deal with the vast increase in the workload.I heard a figure of over £7billion that the Government appear to have given up on that is tax payers money! Like Sunak's wife, took the money then liquidated the companyGovernment should also chase the Furlough Fraudsters who took billions out of the system!
It's not like it hasn't been obvious from the off. We were having these conversations back in 2020 with Lost defending them to the hilt as the urgent need at the time. This story will run and run.
For instance, how did Matt Hancock's local pub landlord get a contract to supply PPE despite having no previous experience? My local pub landlord didn't get one, nor did any other pub landlords from what I know.
It stinks. It looks very much like billions of tax payers money has been fast tracked to friends and donors of the Conservative party. It is one of a number of jaw dropping stories that the media seem to have (in the main) ignored. I really hope that when there is a change of government that there is a thorough enquiry and if necessary a police investigation. It looks very much like corruption from here.
It should have always been given as a business loan, along the lines of a student loan where they started to repay it as Their profits reached a certain level. That way only those who really needed it would have claimed it. It seems to be a thing with this government that they refuse to help those most in need without ensuring that the most well off are given the same at least. There also seem to be quite a few businesses that took furlough grants quite legitimately which seem to have made very handsome profits during the pandemic.

That's what they mean by levelling up.It should have always been given as a business loan, along the lines of a student loan where they started to repay it as Their profits reached a certain level. I think this government are taking a leaf out of the Kremlins book. They are creating their very own British equivalents of thr Russian oligarchsThey are up there with FIFA it seems.
Absolutely this. While longstanding reputable suppliers were frozen out in favour of companies literally set up a few days beforehand with no stock, no history of manufacture and no idea, yet known to Government ministers. Cronyism at its absolute worst, at our cost.
The Government supplier selection process and preferred supplier process were clearly ignored, granted time was of great importance but to give multi million pound contracts to the landlord of your local pub and Baroness Bra is somewhat questionable to put it politely! This story will run and run.

And how much money has been saved in the long run by killing off all those elderly and infirm people. Doing the public a service she was. Deserves a dame hood, oh she’s already got one.She should have set up a charitable foundation. Would've given her business interests a cloak of respectability. Get involved in a few woke projects, send the dummies off the scent. Oh well, it's only money and you can't bring people back once they're gone
Britain has always had its oligarchs. The class war is real.I think this government are taking a leaf out of the Kremlins book. They are creating their very own British equivalents of thr Russian oligarchs
It's called deflection Costero.Read somewhere that the CPS has been given a 100 million budget increase to create a team to prosecute furlough fraud. A significant portion of that budget goes to a private company to assist in the process who reportedly had bid free tender. Even in pursuing fraud they seemingly manage to commit it. The first case was some guy who had overclaimed 5k. Not an insubstantial amount but insignificant when looked at in the context of hundred million pound contracts
Absolutely, I should be angry and shocked but it's just another line on a long list of Ways the Tory's Fuck the Country and it's Population. We’re constantly being told how much the NHS budget is being increased by. The trouble is the money goes into the NHS through the front door and out through the back door into the pockets of scumbags like these who have no conscience whatsoever and see the NHS as fair game for lining their grubby pockets.
It’s not the NHS we can’t afford. It’s the ridiculous privatisation that’s been going on for far too long with little or no accountability.
Regardless of the need for expediency how is it possible for half of a £200million contract to be net profit. They need to be made to repay the lot with interest and a nice little spell in jail too.
Pretty sure it is not just a Tory issue, think Scargill wanted a flat in London for life, and the Unite leader built a white elephant building from Union funds and think his mate got the contractAbsolutely, I should be angry and shocked but it's just another line on a long list of Ways the Tory's Fuck the Country and it's Population.
There is only one rule of law and that is the rule of the rich.Mone holding a fire sale of UK assets and rumoured to be preparing to leave the country - surely it's time to put her in custody or at least confiscate passports
It’s really disappointing. She’s self made and from a working class background and it’s like being let down by one of your own, and someone who should know better.
