Middlesbrough want game called off

You had 1 covid case and injuries.

Them 2 positive cases have clearly spread through the Boro team.
I keep seeing Boro fans post this on Twitter. We had one COVID case that day (ie day before the game), not one in total.

We gave 2 youth players a squad number for first time and recalled another from loan. I assume you're recalling all your loan players? We were missing 12 genuine first teamers.

Absolute disgrace .

They should be told to play or forfeit

Fans have made plans hotels booked some will have even flown in from other countries

Field a team and get on with it like we did.

If you lose you lose it’s only a game of football. Give a chance to the younger players they might surprise you .

Respect the fans and their kids who were locked out of stadiums for the best part of a year

Oh well 😂 hope they stick to the morals they expected us to have and did have... Hope they get thrashed 5-0 rather than a 93rd minute winner then celebrate like they won the league 😂

Wilder press conference reveals 19 cases of covid. EFL told him to recall players out on loan, Spence and Wing played 90mins last night.
No wonder if the players are going to be jumping around hugging random supporters after a goal, instead of following sensible CoViD protocols at this time.

If they have players at the Club who they can field, then they need to get on with it.

So how many did they have against us, can't have been many and now its 19? Seems a bit of a jump.

This. Jumping into the crowd twice isn't following strict covid protocols. Wankers.

Is that 19 cases of Covid in the squad or the whole of Middlesbrough?

Did they all go out in the pïss in Ma Kelly’s after the win?

😁

I will be pissed off if they have more club players available than us but still get it called off. That would be a distortion of fair competition

Ten members of staff and nine players have come down with the virus.
Seven of the nine players featured at Bloomfield Road against the Seasiders on Wednesday night.
Despite the outbreak, manager Chris Wilder has been told by the EFL they must find a way to get their New Year's Day game against Sheffield United on.
Boro have even been told they should recall players to make up the numbers.
"It's possibly been the most difficult 48 hours of my managerial career. That says a lot," Wilder told BBC Tees.
"The game is on. We've talked to the EFL, who have told us we need to do everything we can to get it on.
We have a number of players that are available and what they've wanted us to do is supplement that group with players out on loan. I can't get my head around that.
"I'll be making a call to (Nottingham Forest boss) Steve Cooper to see if we can have Djed Spence back to sit on the bench. And the same with Lewis Wing. And Rumarn Burrell. We have players travelling down on their own to Sheffield.
"We'll have to recall the likes of Stephen Walker, Lewis Wing.
"The blunt message we keep getting back from the EFL is 'you have an obligation to fulfil this fixture'.
"People have been cutting corners. We're not. This is genuine. I'm not that type of manager, this isn't that type of club.
"This is 100 per cent a Covid outbreak. We have one injury, and he could play for 30 minutes. Let's put the cards on the table. Will some clubs have bent the rules to dodge a fixture? In my opinion 100 per cent..
"I'm a man of integrity and honesty. I will play a game anywhere against anybody on a level playing field. We have been absolutely decimated from a player and staff point of view."

No we had 2, and can you answer how if it’s spread through your first team it hasn’t affected ours seeing as they shared 90 plus minutes on the pitch together
