Millwall Twitter Statement

I'll be very surprised if Saturday goes ahead, same will all London fixtures - adds another midweek to the calendar. At least we'll get Wednesday in.

Should play them Saturday during the I'nal break. Tough poop if teams have players away- that's what a squad is for.

It'll go ahead.

They misjudged the mood of the country by cancelling.

Footy fans would have wanted to show their appreciation and respect yesterday.
Even if some matches go ahead next weekend, the statement is making big references to policing requirements in London. I can’t see them mentioning this if there wasn’t already some indication this could be an issue.

Stop making excuses for them to cancel it. Just get on with it.
I'm not making excuses for them, just relaying what they have said. I'm actually planning on buying 3 tickets for the game so with the travel involved it would juct be good to know either way.

Simplest solution would be reverse the fixtures

The thing is the Met won't really know how many police they will need next weekend so they'll err on the side of caution. People will start to flood into London, buildings will need securing and there will be a heightened terror alert. What better timing to make a statement from some terrorists pov?

Next Sat you have Tottingham, Millwall, QPR, Leyton O, Sutton,Dag & REd, Bromley who all will require Police at the grounds to a large or small degree, all playing Saturday afternoon.

If you were the Met Chief, could you actually say that you could provide match support to all these games in advance?

“A Millwall statement said: “As it stands, there is currently no obligation for a similar postponement of fixtures next week, during which Millwall are set to play at The Den against QPR on Wednesday 14 and Blackpool on Saturday 17.

“The club has every intention and desire to fulfill these fixtures as scheduled and believes that its supporters would like the opportunity to pay an emotional and memorable tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll.”

The Old Bill can bring some members from other parts of the country for next weekend. They won’t mind some overtime 💷

Agreed, and the unknown numbers of police required extends to impacting Scotland (no Napoli fans at the Rangers game on Thursday night because of policing issues)

Also on the return fixture no away fans for fairness ,if they are banning away fans they can postpone the games for me because it will be soulless.

Notwithstanding potential issues with police availability, there could also be a lack of stewards due to other demands related to the funeral.

Might help us out if it doesn't go ahead - another game where players can return and also avoids two away trips within 72 hours.
