Minutes of Structured Dialogue Meeting

mmmm....I'd have expected something specific to be asked and answered about ticket pricing and the other things relating to it as mentioned on the other thread.

Informative in some ways, but akin to answers being given by politicians in others!
It was probably a Nobber who started the stupid sale rumours - that's now put to bed.
It's crazy that the Penthouse is still occupied by 'that' family - how thick skinned are they, to occupy accommodation in premises where they're detested? The sooner BFC take possession the better.

There was actually quite a discussion about this, I’m surprised the minutes don’t mention it in more detail as TAM and PoultonBus conversed with both Ben and Brett for several minutes 🤔

The Penthouse situation is quite pathetic to be honest. It’s classic Oyston … Not man enough to walk away.

Probably going to take direct action; just supposing the CCTV went off at an inconvenient time as hundreds of fans started marauding through various bits of the ground....

And it happened repeatedly...

It would make life awkward for a tenant.

What was the question regarding the Morreti lounge about? Curious as we went up for the last game and even though busy we never had to queue, even at half time and the pie n pint offer is far better than the £10 to use a bar for no reward.

Mainly the seating provision which is nowhere near adequate
Also the pies for the first game were rank They’d had a premium food provision that’s been abandoned because of the FOC offer
It was better last game to be fair but still too few seats which tend to be taken by the ‘ one off ‘ attendees as they arrive earlier
Premium seats are also priced wrong
Only 6 in there on Sat !

Then the minutes need updating to reflect these discussions as this is a particularly thorny subject and possibly putting a number of people off in attending games. Being a meeting secretary can be quite difficult but corrections are allowed post meeting.

There were plenty of spare seats last Sat could with more or bigger tables then ?
For what it’s worth we were first time users and thought it was good, but get your point now a bit. Thought it was great for never having to queue for a beer.

As Mosser says think we spoke about that for 15 mins re the £30 being too much and our views over reciprocal deals being rejected

Edit - didn't mean to reply to TAM. Intended it to be the point about altering minutes...

It does beg the question of why on earth we're still using meeting minutes like it's 1992.

Surely we can record the meeting or if they don't want to release it to protect themselves against slips of the tongue or over analysis, then it's not hard to make a transcript of a recorded audio automatically and then edit out anything you don't want there.

I really don't understand why we're limiting the engagement to these kind of selected and filtered things. There's all sorts of ways to engage, social media or face to face and I find the stage managed nature of it all a bit weird.

TTV is a good example of a platform that is absolutely ripe for addressing fan concerns. We could have some quality content about the transfer window or strategy for example, with the fans concerns being met head on.

We could go on a tour of the training ground site with big Ben in a high vis telling us where things will be.

This event could have been edited into a package and I reckon would interest people. On the sofa with big Ben... Group chat with Ben,Simon and Brett...

I'm loathe to get into digging out the board because it just gets daft when people compare them to previous owners and want us to buy and buy and buy but there's definitely a deficit in communication and some of the rhetoric about us all being on the same journey doesn't match the paucity of information released, nor does it help when it means the manager is the only voice most people hear and thus his words are analysed to death.

We have to pay for everything (Hey!)
But some things are for free (Hey!)
We live on blood (Hey!)
We are Sparta F.C. (Hey!)

Some good feedback from the club, but I still notice they skipped around answering how many memberships had been sold.
Clearly they recognise it was a mistake, that they regret, and will have to rectify for next season.

What is concerning is that the board actually thought the membership scheme would be a feasible idea in the first place.
Decisions made by people at middle-class boardroom level, who are out-of-touch with the football fans mindset.

They should work alongside fans organisations or discuss with a fan representative before making these kind of decisions.

Certainly the fans on here knew the club had dropped a clanger as soon as they read about the membership scheme, and made their thoughts known.

The casual, half-hearted fans, and people who treat Blackpool as their `2nd club', were never going to be interested in buying BFC memberships, let alone the arduous form filling involved.

As for the £30 admission price. That's just plain scandalous.

Otherwise it was quite good feedback from the meeting.

Overall 7/10.

Tbf to the club memberships were suggested on here and by many fans in response to the previous seasons pricing structure (as was the u21 discount).

The club are hamstrung in what they can do in terms of membership cost / discount due to EFL regs and of course have to balance the overall pricing structure against operational needs.

It was confirmed that although on the day ticket purchases are down on the same set of fixtures last year by approx 1100, an extra 300 or so ST’s have been sold (for each game) meaning the club have actually sold more tickets overall. Ultimately the ticketing policy is largely working for the club - they even indicate increases at every age group level which is good for growing the fan base going forward too.

There was bound to be a hit given the state of the economy- and that applies at every club - so the stability/increase alongside a slight ticket price increase would show the board their policies are pretty solid.

They’re never going to keep everyone happy, they want to try make games as affordable as possible and they’re open to and working on plans to improve going forward.

As for the membership idea being slated the board are damned if they do and damned if the don’t. It’s a policy the fans were calling for 12 months ago. Likewise the fans criticised the match category system - yet now people want cheaper tickets for certain matches based on the likely popularity of the match… so the same category system the club got rid of to appease the fans.

It was my first one and I saw the value ( and I am quite cynical )

The points made regarding the impact of rejecting reciprocal pricing offers on our away support and the £30 price point for walk ups seemed to be taken on board whilst there were also useful discussions regarding a number of other matters ( eg disabled provision ) which will hopefully be borne in mind when decisions are being made

Also the production of the minutes which are run in the Gazette etc offer a useful update to those who don't follow developments on a daily basis

Still don't see what the issue is with live streaming personally

Good read - sounds like January transfer window will be a case of see how we are on the injury front, if players are back it will be quiet.

The penthouse suite is typically Oyston ridiculousness, hopefully gets sorted soon and the final stench is out of the club.

On another note, how much does the club promote itself to schools that aren't in the immediate area? My school isn't, and we have a Fleetwood Town coach who delivers multi-sports and after school clubs, plus they offer other aspects such as mental health lessons.
I've never had anything from Blackpool, no school children ticket offers either, is this an area the club are working on? Need to convert a few more children to tangerine.

The Trust are responsible for a lot of school initiatives in the area.

What area are you in?

What's the latest count up to on supports groups?

Sure I read explorers had found another one last week in the depths of the Amazon? Doesn't that make it 3,214 now?

Fy6 and over wyre is Fleetwood, constantly getting child's tickets offered at the school. When I was there we used to have Blackpool players coming to visit

BFCCT only cover the Blackpool and LSA postcodes I believe
F/wood cover FY7
Not sure about FY6
Surely for certain things bfc or the trust should be casting their net a bit wider to include all of the surrounding areas. Leaflet drops for eg would surely want all fy postcodes and parts of pr4 and 3 too, as they are closer to Blackpool anyway, an outdated postcode system doesn't mean a lot.

As I said earlier, Blackburn and PNE have both cast their nets this way - have even had free tickets for Man Utd offered on a regular basis for the children.

@LA1 Seasider Your question, seemed obvious it was you as you have raised it on here....

They seemed to reject the idea that they haven't taken full advantage of positive situations to promote the club etc.

When you ask your question and get an answer, is that it? Or do you come back with some examples of what you'd like to see to show them what you meant?

The notes make it seem its question and answer only.

Were you satisfied with the answer? What more did you want to see? We've mentioned more regular promoting of games etc, thinking outside the box, promotional videos etc....

I think the most pertinent question is where I'm supposed to park on the odd occasion I turn up for work if there's a pitch going over the PCT car park? I'm not walking more than 200 yards.

For you perhaps… From a personal perspective I was disappointed that nobody asked them about the possibility of organising a Veg Box scheme.

Tbh given the responses that had been given to other questions (I actually asked more than the one) I found a lot of answers had been provided and I was relatively satisfied with the answers overall. My main frustration was that they seemed to think I wanted us to follow suit with PNE (which is not at all what I want or expect) but I actually just provided PNE as an example of positive marketing working for their particular set of circumstances.
They acknowledged mistakes had been made, they announced a number of new initiatives at the meeting and confirmed more positive proactive marketing was due to be announced going forward (East stand tickets for PNE, Luton discount etc). They also confirmed the marketing, comms and media teams has grown and were still in the process of developing so I do feel overall my concerns have been satisfied. Essentially the remedies to the problems are already in place - I just wasn’t aware of that prior to the meeting and at the time of putting my question forward.

It’s worth noting that the minutes are of course not verbatim and a lot of information perhaps gets lost in the ether or isnt quite ready for full public disclosure just yet.

But what I will say is I’m satisfied the club are improving in the areas I felt needed it. The board are listening to concerns and are taking proactive and positive steps. Everyone should should put questions forward and ask the SLO for an invite. It’s worth it.

Not interested in that but I would have liked to have seen the hotdog celebration music get a mention.

If you haven't heard it, its to the tune of sex bomb, but says hot dog instead, each time one is bought, it's played.

Really helps create a feelgood factor, but disappointed it wasn't in there.

It goes like this...

"Hotdog, hotdog, you bought a hotdog.

Step over to the right and add some sauce on if you want.

Hotdog, hotdog, you bought a hotdog.

Now go and cheer the mighty pool on."

The atmosphere really fell away since they stopped it.
