More Pool fans blocked by the club on Twitter/X

This doesn't seem the best strategy to build club-fan relations.
I'll keep saying it, this is a bad bad look and won't do the club any favours. Got multiple people all across social media's fuming now, when it's something that could easily be avoided. Talking about giving up their season tickets next year and just going to the occasional game. We need to be getting more bums in seats not less.

Rightly or wrongly, a few accounts have been blocked. Okay. fine.
On the back of that you get more twitter users getting angry and chiming in on the blocking of users, making more comments on official posts, @'ing the club and now directing it all at Simon.

I've seen a few posts pointing fingers with choice language at individuals now. It's gone from calling the performance on Tuesday wank (rightly so) to telling Simon to fuck off back to Hong Kong.. (just one example)

This is what I was saying, they've taken something that most people would just ignore and turned it into a massive deal. There's no need for it. Just mute them, it's not that hard. Now we have multiple threads on here about it, blackpool fc twitter going into meltdown, comments about it on Facebook and IG, WhatsApp groups raging and the discord group talking about it. They've made a mountain out of a molehill on this.

Its fine to say mute it, its fine to say its just criticism...
I've seen criticism that doesn't involve call everyone a dickhead, or telling SS to fuck off to HK.
Not many businesses will just leave comments like that on their socials... and some just lock posts altogether before it fills up with what can be classed as abuse.

When you know why someone is blocked, and then go and do the exact same thing.. lets be honest, you're looking to be blocked to get angry all over again..

It's getting silly both sides now.

Even if it’s out and out abuse?
The problem is what constitutes as abuse though, because what I think abuse is and what someone else thinks abuse is are 2 completely diffrent things. Some on here think that saying we were wank on Tuesday is abuse, I think it's factual. Some think that saying Sadler only cares about the spreadsheet is abuse, I dont. If it threatening or doxxing that's one thing, but saying a player has been shit that game on social media isn't a reason to get blocked imo.

I agree it is getting silly on both sides as I'm seeing multiple posts @ the club and telling them to block them too because they're pissed off. I just feel like it's a problem that didn't need to happen. You go on any clubs twitter page after a loss and it's carnage, blocking people won't stop that. Football is unlike any other business. I will say if its threatening or racist, homophobic, bigoted etc, then they should be blocked.

because they don’t like supporters saying it how it is,that’s why they don’t give a true record from meetings with the supporter’s,sadler has got his arse lickers that will turn on any supporter that ask awkward questions
“Saying it as it is”
Ahh yeah, you know someone’s being a wanker when that one gets trotted out.
They are giving an opinion nothing more. Just because they say it it doesn’t automatically mean that’s how it is.

If every other word is a curse word then I’d ban them. I don’t want my young ones reading it and thinking it’s ok. My late father told me many times growing up and as an adult “only uneducated people use swear words because their vocabulary is so low”
Don't think your young ones should be on Twitter then, or most social media regarding football. Also studies have shows that swearing is actually a sign of higher intelligence.

You just proved it Billy.

some on here use similar language,a few posting on this thread, why they need to be insulting,we are all Blackpool supporters,ok we all have different opinions,so stop being aggressive, rude and insulting.

I think that as this is not being dealt with in an even handed manner perhaps @hertfordseasider is correct.

Wouldn't you just contact the offender and tell them being critical is fine but cut out the language and direct insults. perhaps they have done, dunno.

Thing is, the club isn’t a ‘personal’ account - those directing ‘abuse’ will continue ‘abusing’ no matter if they’re blocked or not, in fact blocking probably makes the situation worse.

The club account should be basically a news/engagement portal, shouldn’t pay attention to comments like that.

The club need to rise above it but they’ve failed, and it’s an awful look.

If Sadler can’t hack it, he should find a suitable buyer and pack his bags.

The Club are absolutely right to ban them.... As others have said, we have younger kids interacting with the Club SM... The abuse is unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated.

Suitable buyers aren’t that easy to find, as for SS, he doesn’t seem to take criticism well, maybe he’s never had it, having been a successful businessman and he doesn’t know how to deal with it.

Again, as I said about manager appointments, he should be getting advice from the football people he’s employed on the board.

Can you imagine the outcry if the club used social media to tell a fan to go fuck themself?
Works both ways, the club's X account isn't there to be addressed like some online Aunt Sally.
And it seems to be more than one or two posts.
The statement via the Gazette talks of the level of abuse directed at "certain members of the playing squad, management team and staff."

I don't blame the club for reacting as they did.
If stuff like this isn't nipped in the bud, it escalates.
Don't forget that Mansford had death threats sent to him not so long ago.

People sling angry self righteous abuse around, call it passion, and then switch into full on victim mode when they get silenced. They'll end up with the owner they deserve. And we will all have to put up with it.

I think the problem we have is that the Boycott Years almost gave a bit of license to this kind of moronic behaviour and provided a platform for those who wanted to engage in it. We now seem to be actively engaged in some kind of collective ego-fest, where the being the biggest and best idiot is the objective.

Social media is one of the worst things to come into existence imo.
I saw some woman taking a selfie while walking across a zebra crossing the other day, presumably to post it on some sort of platform “look at me walking across a zebra crossing while taking a selfie hehe”BANG
crazy.

Couldn’t agree more, it’s easy to sit behind a keyboard throwing insults. Problem is, that empowers them to be aggressive in other ways.

Some good points above.

I just think the club have made this a bigger deal than it needed to be by blocking instead of muting.
