None of the current crop fit to lace his boots imo.

Still one of my favourite pieces of commentaries at the end of one of the great matches. 'I've not seen a match like this in years...'
RIP.
I vividly remember it, we only got the highlights of the Euro 84 games late at night on BBC, this match was like magic beamed from another planet.Yes, I can't say I remember that line but I love football and racing and so many great goals/matches or races are made even greater by commentary lines that stick in our minds.
I guess that's what makes them great commentators.
Sounded like he had a hoarse voice that night from shouting above all the air horns!Still one of my favourite pieces of commentaries at the end of one of the great matches. 'I've not seen a match like this in years...'
RIP.
I preferred Barry Davies but Motty was head and shoulders above the current crop.
I wouldn't split them but a distance back to the third.
"Look at his face, just look at his face".
They don't make 'em like they used to.

Love the sound of commentary and the crowds from that era. Seemed very exotic and different unlike today's crystal clear pictures and sound. It's all a bit bland by comparison.Still one of my favourite pieces of commentaries at the end of one of the great matches. 'I've not seen a match like this in years...'
RIP.
