Music genres you don’t enjoy?

Country (I know there are a lot of classical artists;sorry but I just can't get into it at all - with the possible exception of Johnny Cash)
Disco (sorry Lytham), and House Music - whatever that is!

C Rap, glossy manufactured pop, jazz (not all but the tuneless stuff) thrash metal, country (most apart from some Johnny Cash songs) jeezz is there anything left. I do like original stuff rock, blues, some punk, classic rock & much more. The above is a sweeping generalisation so of course there are exceptions 😃

Experimental Jazz, Some ** from Preston Country & Western, X-factor auto tuned shlock, 80's soft rock, 80's music pretty much in general with the odd exception.

Struggle to write off whole genres of music as there will always be one song or more to enjoy.

I mostly listen to heavy metal which is made up of many different sub genres the majority of which I enjoy but some I don't.

If I really had to pick I'd say anything classed as pop music is generally dire and irritatingly simple and repetitive. But that could be anything from Abba to Ed Sheeran 😆

Mines not a genre , but more an agonising torture and that’s the moment my six year old daughter says “ School is having another music performance “ ..... and you have to force yourself to an endure an hour and a half of dodgy recorder, triangle , bongo’s and the odd guitar performances.

Rap in all its forms, I have tried to like it, Spotify must think i'm related to Stormzy I've tried so many playlists, drill, grime the whole shebang.
Cant get on with it, then again im a 58 year old bloke, suppose its no meant for me.

Although i do like House of Pain jump around!

Soft rock - you know the 70s bands like The Eagles, REO Speedwagon, Supertramp, etc. . . insipid music IMO.

Good job punk came along and blew it away 😀

Am I going to sound like a complete cnut.........But I do love..............Jazz.......I know, I'm sorry....1948 - 1968 has some of the best music ever made.
Yup, I know....sad.

Cant say I dislike many genres of music....I've bought and watched everything from Test Department (industrial noise) through to Country & Western (Dixie Chicks).....I've even seen James Blunt....although I've NEVER bought a record.........I'm not that sad.

The One genre that bores me is Opera......and when you had a Dad who had a record collection of over 400+ LP's that were 70% Opera, 20% Traditional Irish folk music & 10% Frank Sinatra..........You're basically set for disaster.....My Sunday afternoons when I was 8 or 9 were spent listening to Puccini and Verdi....I can honestly say I knew more about Maria Callas than Slade or the Sweet at that age....

Anything that's made with profit as the sole motive.
License-free Youtube music.
Anything that utilises the "millennial whoop".
Grime.
Twee music from bands like Mumford and Sons that I like to call "fauxlk" music.

Edit to add: Music that is essentially painting by numbers. See Punk, Dubstep and Drum and Bass. Arguably, Blues, Jazz and other genres fall in to this but I just don't find them as grating as the aforementioned.

Not too keen on Opera. All that screeching at the tops of voices and pontificating and posturing. Yeah I'm sure, I hate it. Pass the aspirin.

Modern Rap. Just an an excuse for profanity and sick making sexual and racial referencing. Was a fan of early Rap, the pioneers, such as George Clinton, Isaac Hayes and Grandmaster Flash.

Country and Western amounts to a string of long winded yarns about life and its mainly sad outcomes. That said, like others have stated earlier I would leave Johnny Cash out of that equation. Particularly his latter day works with Rick Rubin on the American Recordings series. That was epic.

Jazz has many faces. I enjoy the jazz rock and jazz funk genres, but you can keep the free-form and trad versions thanks very much.

Rock I enjoy in most of its formats, But thrash and death metal I will keep at arms length.

I've always thought Jump around should be played at Bloomfield Road. There's some great youtube vids of it being played at American Football games.

I've got everything from ABC to Yello on spotify!!
I listen to the Beastie boys but hate other forms of rap🤷‍♂️
Don't get grunge at all 😞
And any manufactured shite that Simon Cowell pumps out

Prog Rock is shockingly bad. Also a bit sinister too

Loved some of the prog rock. In the early 1970s our next door neighbour was a roadie for Gabriel's version of Genesis. He managed to get us working for 2 nights running when they appeared at Lancaster uni and then the Free Trade Hall in Manchester. Absolutely brilliant live performances.
Hate Rap
