Nearest football club to where you now live

My mate played for them when they knocked Cloughie’s Brighton out of the FA cup. He scored the winner.
My local team Basingstoke were in an epic title battle with Walton and Hersham for their level 8 championship in the last few months Think Wrexham and Notts County but with lower standards. Similar setup in that only 1 goes up automatically.

On the last day W and H needed to win to be promoted. They led 2-1 into the 90th minute at Thatcham and then conceded the equaliser and the title to Basingstoke. Hopefully Walton will also be promoted (they won their semi final last night) as they finished miles ahead of everyone else.

Oh and sadly Reading as the nearest football league team

Since there are many Blackpool exiles on this messageboard I thought it would be interesting to hear which professional club you now live closest to.

I'll start with Ipswich Town.
Stoke City.

It was close though, Stokes ground is 1 minute quicker to get to than Port Vale on foot and by car.

Sorry, I was saying, he has the scarf, banner etc in the barber's shop. He told me that Parana Club has basically folded. Is that right?
Oh, not sure, I’ve not heard owt, will make enquiries

What I can tell you is the Coxia Brancas have made a terrible start to the season 3-0 loss away at Flamengo and 0-3 at home to Fortaleza 🤷‍♂️

Back in Portugal in August so if I get up north I’ll hit you up👍

Was in Santos the other day, went to check out the ground, looked ace from the outside, I need to get to more away games but as you well know it’s a big old gaff to get round…
Very true! Got a real soft spot for Santos, place and club. Re: Coritiba, the guy who cut my hair here at the Barber's the other day is a huge fan of theirs. He's got the scarf, banners, the lot in the barber's shop!

What was Santos like? The Coritiba Imperio are superb, I’ve never seen anything like it, drummers who can actually drum and perhaps 7,000 of these ultras they don’t shut up all game no matter what’s happening on the pitch, the curva as it’s known is so loud it truly is emotional being there, I love it.

Santos, well, loads of passion, as you'd expect. It's also a very small ground, around 18 000 capacity so just a bit bigger than BR, so that adds to it all.

Just over 16k capacity at Vila Belmiro, Santos, so about the same as BR.

Currently in Gran Canaria so UD Las Palmas. Battling for promotion from La Liga 2. If they make it, we'll be out here for Barca, Real etc next year.
Vamos UD ⚽

yep, what a cock up. And the bloke who scored a hat-trick in four consecutive games a few weeks ago missed a real sitter to make it 1-3 and seal the game and promotion. But as you say, hopefully on Sunday.

1988 to date - Lincoln City
1983 to 1988 - Manchester United
1980 to 1983 - Brentford
1978 to 1980 - Leeds United
1962 to 1978 - Blackpool
1959 to 1962 - Barrow

Portland Timbers stadium (Providence Park) is about 10 minutes down the road from me.

Quite impressive, half of it is an old baseball stadium built in the 1920s and the other side is a 4 tier modern stand. They get about 25'000 "on" per game and have a decades long wait for season tickets.

I couldn't care less, American sports leagues are pointless with no relegation or promotion. I did see them play both PNE and Burnley in pre-season friendlies, our Brett was playing for PNE at the time and PNE lost if I recall.
